Subject: RE: Rumpass in Bumpass International : Official ThreadThe only thing that can prepare you for swimming in cold water is to swim in cold water. The only thing comparable to swimming in cold water is swimming in cold water.
Now, do I personally think it is a big deal? No, but this will be the fifth straight year that I've done a race at Lake Anna in April.
Was it a big deal the first year? Yes. It took me about 20 minutes to get through 750 meters.
The idea isn't to scare you, the idea is to make sure you are prepared (not just in terms of wetsuit, cap, etc, but to also be preparted mentally ). It's hard to put your face in cold water when you have the option NOT to. Get in the water before the race starts. Swim in it. Get some water in your suit and allow your body time to bring the temperature up. |
