While getting some publicity is great... it irks me to no end that the people who can afford to buy expensive stuff... constantly get it for free. All the movie stars get free sunglasses, clothes, cars, etc. While us normal working folk get to pay for everything they don't. *Rant off* |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() CubeFarmGopher - 2009-06-23 8:39 AM I've never watched the show but I couldn't resist rubbernecking at the train wreck last night. One thing that struck me was the condescending manner in which she kept using the phrase "MY kids." She seemed completely unwilling to acknowledge her husband's existence in the matter. Sadly thats pretty common in divorce. Women seem to think they have a monopoly on love and the ability to raise a child.( I am referring to during a divorce as it seems to bring out a "mine" mentallity)I mean how dare a man think he could raise a child as well as women. Sadly the courts are sexist and agree. No offense to any of the mothers here but it happens far too often. I remember correcting my ex many times during our divorce with the word "our" Edited by Imjin 2009-06-23 12:28 PM |

![]() BikerGrrrl - 2009-06-23 1:05 PM While I blame Kate for the ongoing b!itchiness that started their issues, Jon is a child himself. I totally agree that if they were really concerned for the kids, they would have tried counseling. They just plain gave up. Jon actually said "I'm only 32, I have a whole life ahead of me." What, now that you've given up on your family? Sorry it didn't turn out how you liked, Jon, should have thought of that. I actually mostly blame him. Kate was probably a b!tch from day one. He shouldn't have married her or had those kids, but when he did he should have found a way to make it work. I am not a fan of parents staying married just for the kids, because that causes bad tension too. But I think people give up WAY too easily. So, now they are going to have a place for Jon to live, for Kate to live, and the "kid's house." I hope they don't get their schedules messed up some weekend and we find the kids alone, Jon skiing in Utah, and Kate off at a spa somewhere... Wait, so WHO'S going to parent the kids? She's not going to live with them?!! WTF?!?!? Greedy, spotlight-grubbing biatch! She doesn't deserve to have children. Just disgusting. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I find it very interesting that from watching little tidbits of these people's lives, we have it all figured out. We know whose fault the breakdown of marriage is. We know they didn't try to work at it or try counselling. I mean I am a regular watcher of this show (hey, my kids like it) and I have my own opinions, but I'll be the first to admit I could be totally wrong. It is easy to make judgments of others when you are not in their shoes. I do agree that wanted the good stuff that comes with fame and they have to take the bad too. |

Kate actually mentioned how parents to multiples have triple the divorce rate of other families. I thought that was a nice touch: It's not her fault the marriage failed! It's all due to the kids! I hope she's happy they have all these memories on tape for perpetual playback during their future therapy sessions. Edited by trysprintolympic 2009-06-23 1:12 PM |

While Kate clearly looks like a bully, Jon kinda stuck his head in the sand and went with it. While I felt sorry for him in the marriage, FOR GOD'S SAKE MAN UP AND TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR FAMILY. There is nothing cute/sexy/hot about a pushover man. NOTHING. They both make me want to vomit. and I love my food way too much. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Huh, I didn't know about this birdnesting business. There are even fads in divorce proceedings. Seems a lot more palatable than the every other weekend kind of business. When my folks divorced my dad moved away about a year later (which I also disagree with, btw) so now our visitations meant I couldn't do anything normal on weekends with him. No school or friend activities, spending time in the car driving back and forth, etc. I would have been thrilled to send my mom off and have my dad step in. I mean it's "all about the kids", right? NOt. Anyway... was reading article on Yahoo news and saw this statement. I never thought I would agree so much with The View: "Meanwhile, the Gosselins were a hot topic on "The View" Tuesday morning. Co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck said the show should end and that Kate Gosselin should "get a job" and that the reality show was "not healthy for the kids." Barbara Walters, the only member of "The View" who acknowledged watching the show, summed up, "If you have more than five children, you shouldn't be allowed to get divorced." Ha ha! Master![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I don't get how everyone says Jon shouldn't take it, he's a pushover, he should have stood up for himself. If the roles were reversed and Jon had treated Kate the same way the past 5 years, the public outrage about abused women would be through the roof! Abuse comes in all sorts of forms (not just physical) and just b/c he is a man does not mean he is any more able to leave an abusive relationship than a woman. Nobody wants to be talked to like they are stupid and worthless everyday. ![]() |

Yes the parents should remain together if they can make it happen... but kids watching parents in an unhappy marriage isn't much better than divorce. It affects the kids, just like divorce does. It just seems that John and Kate pulled the plug on their relationship without any work. Yes, it looks as though he cheated... and she should toss him for that alone... but they have 8 kids, so she needed to try to work it out. It's pretty obvious he probably cheated because she (Kate) is so horrible to him. |
