WHAT!!!

Cyclist Boonen gets shock 11th hour Tour reprieve

MONACO (AFP) — Belgian cycling star Tom Boonen has been granted a shock eleventh hour reprieve to compete in the Tour de France which starts here Saturday, his team confirmed.

Is this why I can't find a start time for the riders tomorrow, they don't know who's riding? Seen the weather forecast? If it rains......

So I've got Cancellara, going to also go with Contador to make a statement, and Grabsch because CHR always seems to pull out quite a few stages.

Here's what happens when Boonen takes on cav:

and

and let's not forget Milan-San Remo where Boonen did the smack talk and Cav did the winning.

I wish him well but have my doubts. Cav looks too strong. Hopefully Tom has stashed some where Cav can find it.

Cat, were those your picks in the first post or were you thinking out loud?

1/Contador ~ got to show Lance he's the real team leader.

2/Popovych

3/ Canc... Wigg...   Pellizotti

& I get a 10 sec. time bonus when they come in in that order

Dave Z.  He hasn't thrown it down in a time trial in a while.  May now be quite long enough for him though, so my back up will be Cancellara

I've wanted to get involved in this thread, but can't say im educated enough to make a real pick, so I'll just throw a name out I haven't heard mentioned much yet. With that said, I'll go with Christian Vande Velde, because thats how I roll.

I have to pick Cancellara for the win.  Just for the fun of it I will say 1. Cancellara 2. Contador 3. Leipheimer, with the local boy 4. Zabriskie.

1- Cancellara (I love him I do I do)

2 - Hushovd (history says he does well in the short prologue format)

3 - Lance Armstrong (why not... he is looking FIT and he has one short proloues before)

I was going to go with Rogers... between the two Aussies... but...ummm....he doesnt seem to pull it out in the shorter distances or in grand tours!

I'm going to throw out a name for the OVERALL that I haven't seen mentioned to many times yet...Frank Schleck.

Stage 1 is my favorite rider from the old CSC team...Carlos Sastre.

Sastre for a TT? Bold choice... even with half of it uphill..

Oh and I mentioned Schleck in one of the other threads... but Im not sure his TT skills are there yet...

Of the Schlecks, Andy seems to be in better and more consistant form this season.  I still think he will struggle to get onto the podium.
