I figured they would fly off the shelves as soon as they came in.  At my tri shop the owner said he cancelled the order on 12 of the 16 he ordered and I see he has 3 hanging on the wall as decorations.  The P2 and P3 are just good enough to not justify spending the extra money for the P4 I guess.

A lot of marketing hype, but the fact that there were no Cervelo's in the top 20 in the ITT at the TdF will not help them.

I heard the chatter about the p4 at the tour as well.  I found it interesting the the next bike out or 2 the rider took the integrated water bottle off and had a regular water bottle cage/bottle fit on the frame where it was.

I believe this is because the UCI determined that the bottle was an illegal fairing and could not be used.

Well, i don't know if I agree with that. Lack of sales likely has more to do with the macroeconomic issues then a problem with the bike. And the Tour TT results has more to do with the athletes than the gear.

I may be wrong but I don't think Cervelo could care less how their team did in the ITT's or TTT.  The team was not built around TT's but rather appeared to be looking for success in the road stages (through breakaways and sprints) and the overall Green Jersey competition.

In the past (with CSC) Cervelo typically had a strong team but the bulk of the hype was around the P3 in the ITT's (under Zabriskie and Fabian).  This year they are getting a ton of exposure with their new road bike.

Ultimately, as far as triathletes go I don't think they have much to worry about.  Last year in Kona Cervelo had more bikes than the next four manufactures combined (Kuota, Scott, Trek and Felt) and although some of the new TT offerings will probably cut into Cervelo's marketshare, I doubt that they are too worried whether triathletes are riding the new P4 or any of the other models you will see at races (P3C, P3SL, P2C, P2SL/P1, Dual, etc).

This may be blasphemy, but I find the P4 to be ugly.

x2

It may be fast, but I saw one on display at the Philly Tri expo and was disappointed with its looks compared to other bikes out there - especially with the waterbottle not installed.

At the end of the day, I think any complete bike in the $7000+ price range are all pretty comparable.

they are dead sexy bikes

looks to me as agressive as p3....i am just curious about the price you can get one of these at....because msrp is close to 10k  and there is no way i am droping that much.....for 5k i would consider it but i doubt they are even close to that price range.

MSRP is $6,800 as it comes from Cervelo. That's with SRAM Red, Vision alloy bars, and Easton Ciruit wheels. However it's most often photographed with 3T Ventis bars and a combination of Zipp wheels which would put the price tag in the $10k range. Obviously a lot of money, but comparable to the Scott Plasma LTD and Felt DA.

Sounds a lot like triathlons!

Ya know I saw one this past weekend in action at the Stone Harbor Tri.  Of course the guy was hardly cracking 20 MPH on it so it was hard to tell just how fast  the bike could go....

To me though there were a fair amount of P3's in the race and to be honest with you they looked, for all intents and purposes, the same if not very similar when compared on the race course.

I just don't get the goofy water bottle thing on the P4.  I'd have to say that I love my P3C in black and white and would not dish out the extra for the P4.   I also saw one at the LBS around here and was not overly impressed.

Actually, if I were going to do another bike I think I would go to the Argon 18.   That thing looks sick.

Oh and Dan...you spent upwards of 5G on the bike.  It better be comfortable! LOL

Mike - lets just say that both I and my team have a very good relationship with my LBS and I was very happy with the price and bike.

Glad to hear that.  That's the only reaqson I'm on the P3C too.   Got the hook up a few years back before clearwater... It's a nice thing to get support.

I love the look of a sexy bike - but I don't find the P4 that sexy in comparison to other bikes on the market.  That said, if anyone is buying their bike based on how it looks you've likely made a huge mistake.  I'm sure most acknowledge this and would buy a bike for comfort/speed first, and look second, but I'm just as sure there are any number of people that walk into a bike shop, and buy the "sexy" one - cause if it looks fast, it must be fast.  Laughing
