sdanaher - 2009-08-06 7:42 PM $300 - gah, I hope my wife doesn't see this thread!

They consider that rate special??? There must be other places to stay. What about nearby, short drives? I don't care if I'm right at the race site. I'm only coming down for one night so I'd prefer not to blow $300 on a hotel I'll barely be in and barely enjoy. I'll also have people with me who can drive me around for once and intend to take full advantage! If anyone knows the area and can share some suggestions, that would be great.

I'm camping!  Luckily I love to camp... and it's only $25 total for the entire weekend.  Not too shabby if you're into 'the great outdoors'

IN!!!!!!!

Relay.  I'm swimming & biking and my friend Heidi is running.  Our relay name is Smokin' Hot Hard Core Mamas!!  We needed a little motivation to get in shape and attempt to live up to our name.     Another friend from State College is doing it as well.  It will be her first HIM.

I am staying at the Days Inn in Easton, MD.  Got the room for $93 + taxes through expedia.com.

Un-freaking-believable  Eagleman registration is still open after 10 days!!!!!!!  WOW!

Breaking news:  As of 11 AM, August 13th, there is less than 100 spots open...   jeez, I'm almost tempted to sign up again.

I'm lucky if I plan 1 month ahead; how do you guys commit so soon? Is there something that makes this race soooooo much better that everyone knocks down the doors to do it a year in advance?

A lot of pro's race it; it's a very competitive AG field; it's flatter than flat ; it's very centrally located on the East Coast so a lot of people from different states can easily drive to it.

I did it last year, to be honest, IMO: it's a tad over-hyped .. but it's definitely a HIM you have to Race once (if you're within driving distance), and I definitely will be racing it again.  It's a really good race, good time, if the heat stays in check -- it's very easy on the body cause there is zero elevation to this course.

Oh and you have no choice but to schedule it 300 days out cause it closes out so quickly.  Last year it closed out in 48 hours, this year -- not so much...

I'm in again this year Cool  Then doing IMKY in August.  Hoping to pull off a top 5-10 in AG, which is going to be ridiculously hard for 2010 since there are now 99 girls registered in my AG (25-29)!!!  Last year there was only 66 Yell (44 of which showed up)

But I say: Bring it on!!

Wow. Just signed up and I think I got one of the last 30 spots!! Doing my first HIM in 4 weeks in Muskoka (lots of hills) so I think it will be a nice change as I will never want to see another hill again!

P.S. My gf thinks I'm crazy for signing up this far in advance!! But what else are you going to do?

It's not early at all. I'm almost completely finished registering for my 2010 season. You have to plan ahead in this sport!

I'm in as a first timer.  Doing the Aqua Velo.  That was the plan all along and when I saw today that the full tri sold out on Friday, I figured I should pull the trigger now.

I'm in but only for Aqua-Velo.  Was full before I even had a chance to register for the HIM.  Do want to do a HIM sometime in 2010 along with a couple of Olympics and a Sprint.

Whoa just saw this.  Fred is a huge veteran in this.  Yes the wind is pretty bad.  It can be hot, humid and windy.  I went to school on the Eastern shore and would get killed on ride with the wind.  Think you'll have a tail wind coming back.  HA!  Yeah right!
