Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm in. As far as training goes, I'm doing the Philly Marathon in November so I've been focusing on running, with some swimming and very little biking. After that I'm getting Sinus surgery and will be pretty much out of action until January. I've got some time between now and then to figure out a plan. |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm in. Secured a place on-site after volunteering, and completed my registration today on Active. Yes! This will be my first IM. I'll be doing the BT 20 wk program as well - that starts my "official" training in April. Hmm... so that means I can just sit around and watch football this winter, right? Did you have to pay another $26 for processing? I thought we paid that at sign up when we were charged $576. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I did have to pay another 26$$ but then later I got an email saying that was refunded. |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I am in - my first! Volunteered this year and loved being part of the race! I just wish we didn't have a whole year to think about it! |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm in.............finalized registration this morning, and was charged the additional $26 too. I called and later received the refund email. This will be my first IM and will be training with two IM vets - should help having experienced IMers in my ear! Looking forward to Jorge's Winter Bike Training plan - just not the (d)rainer! haha We'll be putting together our IM training program sometime in October, early November. In the meantime, I am going to enjoy "family time" while I can - it will be a LONG year for them too! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() For those who were refunded money from Active, be sure they didn't refund the whole amount. Some people were refunded the $550.00 in additon to the $26 overpayment. Although it would be great to race for free, I don't think that is what they are trying to do. Looks like Active has a few bugs to work out of their system. I would imagine this will have no impact on race slots etc though. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() pennylope - 2009-09-21 11:49 AM loos like there are a few of us IMOO folks doing chicago in a couple weeks...i'm in for that as well ![]() so, for a conservative estimate, I should start gearing up in marchish? or maybe april? i might be delusional or sick, but i'm actually kind of excited to devote much of my free time next year to training! What's wrong with your foot if you don't mind sharing? I ask because I'm in a long recovery from a serious foot injury that almost ended MOO for me this year (had to walk the whole marathon....). As far as when to start, that's very personal depending on what sort of plan or coaching you'll be following. I trained 32 weeks so I started in Feb, but a lot of folks did 20 weeks. My Feb-Apr training was lighter of course and I raced an HIM during that time so it wasn't as IM specific, really just gradual build. I'm starting in Dec/Jan with IM focus this year as I have IMLP first on July 25 so I'll need to get cranking early. In between now and then I will be doing foot rehab and a heavy bike swim focus. No running for me this season ![]() |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() When I confirmed my registration on Active, it said "No payment due". I'll see what they charged my credit card when I get the bill. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm in!! Got in online MOnday morning. This will be my first IM and it works out perfect as it is almost the halfway point between my in-laws and our house. I should have a nice support geoup at the race. As far as training, I am doing the Florida 70.3 at Disney so I plan on just rolling from that layoff into week 16 of the 20 week training plan. Hope it works. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I was charged twice, too. $576 when signing up onsite, the $551 when I confirmed online, yesterday. Refunded $551 yesterday pm. Confirmed the screw up with Active.com today - all is well. |

I ask because I'm in a long recovery from a serious foot injury that almost ended MOO for me this year (had to walk the whole marathon....). i had a sesamoid stress fracture that put me out of running from nov 08 to april 09 (i was in a boot that whole time!), it just would not heal. i was just starting to get my running groove back when my foot started really hurting a couple weeks back. ironically, it had NOTHING to do with my running. i felt great running. but it was the high heels at work. walking up and down the long marble halls of the office...and just all of a sudden searing pain came back. and it won't really go away. i'm just worried about having to take another 6 mos. off. what kind of foot injury do you have? (feet are the worst... ![]() |

(feet are the worst... ![]() I have a partial rupture of the plantar fascia. I had PF pretty bad 1.5 years ago, aggravated by walking around NYC in super high heels after doing a heavy period of speed work. I ended up taking 4 months off and then having minimal issues with it after. Toward the end of IM training I had twinges of pain but nothing alarming, then woke up one morning about 2.5 weeks from the race and couldn't walk. The tear wasn't acute so I had no idea it was happening and the pain wasn't severe enough to warn me to stop until it was too late. I'm looking at 4-6 months recovery now, but luckily only a week or two more in the boot! Fingers crossed our feet hold up for next year! |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() Myself and 2 other training partners will be making the trip up from central Illinois sometime next summer to ride the course as well. Maybe a large BT group training ride in the future? ![]() |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() James..where at central Illinois? I am from Bloomington and I will be racing as well. I am trying to figure out when to go up and "look around". |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() We're in Tremont.....................not far from you! Sounds like there are around 15 folks that have an affiliation with Tri-Sharks doing IMWI next year. We are all members of Tri-Sharks, but formed T3 (Tremont Triathlon Team) just this year. I know I'm speaking for the other guys (CKinsey) and (patodonohue) but we'd be happy to hook up for some training rides or runs anytime - maybe we can get a group of central Illinois to road trip up next spring/summer? |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sounds great!! I am a member of Tri-sharks but to be honest I haven't really done anything with the group. My time is so tight that I have to train when I can and the nights they have their things I just cannot do it (4 kids 5 and under ![]() |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() haha - I wish I was a 25 mph guy! My fastest TT this year was 21.7...........I'm the slowest of the 3. The other two guys are 22-24 TT guys. On longer rides we like to do some pace line work, but mostly easy riding. My race paces this year have been from 19-20 mph...............I was a 17.5 guy last year, so I'm getting faster. My 1/2 Iron I avg. 19.4 (pretty flat though) None of this, however, is anywhere close to my plan for an IRONMAN pace! Would like to do IMWI in the high16-low17 bracket..............but that depends on weather, nutrition...........well a LOT of things. No worries on the speed, we do group rides all the time and have all levels.................from 15 mph -> 21/22 mph. We are not heavily involved with Tri-Sharks, however, did make a few TTs, but mostly enjoyed having somewhere to go for an OWS on Wednesday nights.....................really paid off in the 1/2. I've added you as a friend - add Ckinsey and patodonohue - we'll be posting our training and if you feel like joining in on a group ride - give us a shout. We are doing the No Baloney 100 miler tomorrow. Edited by JamesNissen 2009-09-25 3:02 PM |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() If I can get up there... I might come if there is a BT group getting together even though I'm pretty damn shy. I am also a bit on the slower end though and I'm not sure how much slower on the hills since I don't have any to train on here in Chicago. In my races I've averaged 17-18.5 but they have been fairly flat. By Spring I should be 50lbs lighter so that shall help. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'll try to come up from Lafayette, IN if I can. I may be able to do some work with my job in the area at times and stick around for a ride! Can anyone put a non-snorer up for a night if I make it? ![]() ![]() |
