Subject: RE: Revolution3 HIM Middlebury, Connecticut: Official ThreadI just watched the Run Preview again ... did anyone catch that K-Swiss Mile Climb?? I can't recall ever seeing a climb that long and brutal, considering our legs will be fried from approx 3 hours of Hills. Usually inclines don't look so bad on video, but that climb just looks a 10/10 bruuutal sufferfest. The Michael Lovato interview keeps running through my head. He said they lucked out with cool conditions. He said if it was a hot one people would be dropping all over the place. This past weekend I ran the Long Island Half Marathon and throughout the 10k, half and especially the full marathon, runners were walking due to the heat and humidity. My recommendation/suggestion is to assume it's going to be very hot and humid by the time we get out on the Run course. The best way to prepare for this is to Run now at least once a week, preferably a few times, during the hottest, humid part of the day. This will help your body acclimate to the conditions. I did this before my half marathon and I didn't suffer nearly as much as many of my friends who only run indoors, early morning, or in the evening. Lastly, I'm going to try and drop a few pounds before Race Day. Especially with Hills, just 5 lbs will make all the difference. For instance, picture holding a five pound wieght and running the K-Swiss 1-mile climb. Now picture throwing that weight on the ground and running wihout it. Happy and Safe training Everyone.![](https://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/images/emoticons/smile.gif) |
