I rode for 4 hours, did 30 min of power sliding, and 15 min of stretching and foam rolling. Initially, I mistakenly set my plan up as if I was doing an IM. That is why my plan called for a 4 hour ride. I have it fixed now and the ride should have only been 2.5 hours. Oh well, now I have 1.5 hours of ride time in the bank. |

So, I'm not familiar with the camping option. There seems to be a lot of interest in it on this forum. Can some one explain to a newby what the big deal is and whether I should think about it or not? I'm just looking for a hotel nearby right now. |

I just drove into the spot the morning of the race. |

I'm just looking for a hotel nearby right now. It's just a nice option to have since if you camp, you are literally just feet away from transition and start/finish lines. You don't have drive in from your hotel or fight traffic or arm wrestle someone for a parking spot on race morning. I think a lot of people really enjoyed the convenience factor of camping; and it's something hardly any other races offer. The race site is in a State Park, so the campgrounds are already there - they are actually on the run course which makes it also applealing to those who have a cheering section - they can just "camp out" (heh) at their campground and see their athlete at least two times without even leaving their lawn chair. Plus you can't beat the price (assuming you have a tent and other necessary gear)! Edited by lisac957 2010-01-24 1:47 PM |

I'll probably do 10 miles or so on the bike, then go for a swim afterwards. I'll also spend some time stretching, relaxing, and being social. I've found the workout calms my nerves and gives me some self-confidence about the course. After the workout I will sometimes take a drive on the bike course to get a feel for it too. This being the first time I'm doing KS, I'll definitely drive it. And I'm lucky- my brother-in-law works for Hilton and can get me his discount on the Hampton Inn. I do think it would be cool to camp, but I don't have any of the necessary equipment, so it would be cheaper for me to stay @ the Hampton. |

You need to enter a certain code and a shoe size. They in turn will send a free pair within 4 to 5 weeks. I missed out also, I'm already registered. |
