Justin Scheele - 2010-02-07 9:29 PM I just recieved an e-mail stating that if you sign up for Kansas or Branson before February 14th, you can recieve a new pair of K-Swiss shoes.  You need to enter a certain code and a shoe size.  They in turn will send a free pair within 4 to 5 weeks.  I missed out also, I'm already registered.

I missed that email and I registered a long time ago. CAn you send a copy of the email to my PM?

I e-mailed the people in charge if IMKS and they replied back.  People who already registered prior to the shoe offer are out of luck.  No shoes for you or I.  Sorry.

if u register by the 14th there is a place to put the code on the active.com registration page, you put in KSWISS and then it asks ur shoe size and thats it.

I'm glad I added this to my "race list" before I officially registered so I got to read about the free shoes. I was planning on it anyway, but that did make me register sooner. I hope it was as easy as entering "KSWISS" and the size. Almost too easy. I looked up the press release about the promo and the shoes are pretty cute Kiss

Noticed on the website, IMKS is having a training weekend at Clinton Lake on April 17th.  Suppose to be similar to last years course ride, but with a few extras.  Pretty excited that I'll be OFF from work that weekend.  I plan on doing it then running the Kansas 1/2 Marathon in Lawrence that next day.

I'm in. Hoping to improve on my time from last year. Shouldn't be too hard since I walked most of the run.

YES!!  Injury has impaired my training.  Cannot run for another 2 weeks or so.  Also limiting bike time/intensity.  Been improving my swimming though so not as nervous there.   So while I would be nervous to being with, I'm double nervous about being "ready" when the time comes.

Thanks for the countdown Tongue out

Not quite yet. It has to stop feeling like winter first. June, at this point, seems far away.

On a side note, does anyone know if the training weekend in April is going to have any association with the Kansas Marathon/Half-Marathon the next day? I recall someone mentioning last year that those who did the training weekend also got an entry into the half-marathon race the next day if they wanted it.

I was wondering the same thing.  I'm planning on running the Kansas 1/2 Mary, but don't want to pay if I don't have to.  It will just be a training race to see where I'm at.

This year IMKS participants can get into the 1/2 marathon for $15 off.
Just plug in the coupon code of:
XDTQDE9VEY

It is the day after the free training day being put on at the race site...so it makes for a good training weekend.

The half marathon's website is www.kansasmarathon.com , it is a not-for-profit event to benefit a local health care clinic for low-income populations.

That's good news, thanks! Best of luck to you, Ryan, on your races this season.

I am glad to see that I am not the only nervous one!  I am feeling better now.  My coach put out my March schedule and it is getting more intense as far as workouts so that will definitely help the confidence.

I thought about doing the training day but that just seems way to far to drive for a 1/2 day of training.  I guess I will just do the same workouts but here in the hills of Colorado!  I hope everyone who does go has a great time!

WOOHOO! i'm in too! it'll be my first long race since IMCDA last year... since then i've been busy with PCSing with the air force from WY to NE, fitting in some short road races and one sprint, figuring out a new career field in aircraft maintenance with standard 10.5 hour days, and NOW i'm doing some more AF training for the next couple months in texas. whew! i wish i could say i did more cycling in the off-season since it's my worst discipline, but snow and ice on the ground since late 2009 in nebraska foiled those plans. is there anyone in north texas (wichita falls) who knows some good, quiet roads to ride on? anyways, i'm very excited for my first half (and free shoes!). anyone else doing the free BT program?
