mbasta - 2010-11-03 9:21 PM Half of my team the CRUSHERS is here! I want to join and should join, but I don't weigh daily. Still thinking about joining, or I can just talk to my Crusher buddies in our challenge thread...

*Making myself accountable at least to the Crushers in case I don't show my face here again.

Come on join, all the cool kids are doing it Laughing

I'm not sure I can juggle 3 challenges... I'm already in winter weather and Crushers...

Let me sleep on it.

I'll handle the management for you...all you have to do is post your weight on your log daily.  I will pull it from there.

I am in Bill's crappy weather challenge too....it is how I am going to succeed at this challenge!

Hmmm.  I want to lose a little more (lost 19 so far this year).  But daily weighing will be a change for me. However, the accountability of the challenge would be helpful

Do you have room for 1 more? Just what I need is another challenge, and daily accountability.

I've slept on it and decided that you guys will be a great help in getting me to my goal. Or, at least part way. My major goal is to not get bigger - but getting smaller is a bonus!

Morning weigh in 176, goal by January first 165.

There, I said it. What a crazy and amazing New Years treat it will be if I can even get to 169!

I hesitated about 2 minutes before submitting that I was joining...

Just a side note to help everyone - body measurements are a more reliable source of information for body fat reduction progress. Most or all of you already know this, but I think it's important to bring it up just in case. So, when your weight goes into a standstill or even goes up a little - maybe you gained a little muscle in the legs and lost some fat in the gut. Aside from weighing, I recommend take measurements once a month to get a better picture of your progress. I usually get people to do bust, waist, and hip circumference. I do those plus thigh and calf.

Anyone who would like any help with this or anything else that I might be of use just let me know on here or PM. I work in the health/fitness field and love to help fellow BTer's!

Ride the wave and get to 165!  Every time you reach for seconds, that piece of pie, or that sugar cookie, I'll be in your brain taunting you and reminding you that you are in a challenge to not gain but LOSE weight this holiday season.

This goes for EVERYONE who has signed up.  We will do this together!

Great point!  For example:  This morning I felt like a winner of the Biggest Loser competition on NBC.  I weighed in at 194.4 lbs.  I can tell you honestly right now that I am dehydrated and this will jump 3 lbs once I get my body fluids right again.

The only reason I chose weight as a measurement is that it is something we all can do daily and keep a tabs on.  I cannot afford nor have the tools to do a body fat analysis daily.  I don't trust my cheap scale to do it accurately.  For those of you who have these data, I agree with Melissa (mbasta) that they are what are important.  Body composition change is what we are looking for (ie. building lean mass--gaining weight--while losing body fat--losing weight).  I can and will post belly measurements weekly so I can track real progress.  I also plan on posting photos in my old challenge from last year which show the loss of my belly and manboobs.  I put it all back on again after IM st. George but you all can go witness what is possible in this thread--check out AbbieR's transformation!

Thanks Melissa for posting your thoughts above...they are very true in my mind.

I'll update as folks get data in their logs.  Happy Training Today and EAT RIGHT!  I added a Group Total row to the table just for my own curiousity.  We weigh under a ton together and have just over 100 lbs to lose before the new year.  Very doable.

A very healthy breakfast to start the day! I had real oatmeal with berries and a dab of honey.

I also realized that the final 1/4 of last nights Baskin and Robins icecream is in the freezer with last nights intention to eat it today. I told my mom she could have it.

(I need all of my cheat meals for when I REALLY need them. The first day of the challenge is not one of those days... see me next week.)

Wow! Great job Abbie! It's amazing how changing body composition also makes people look so much younger.

I would like to look like photo 3 please.

Sounds like another great thing for me.  I want to play.  I have not weighed daily this month, but did check in at 204.2 on Oct 31.
My goal will be 198 - not much I know, but through the end of the year, not gaining 6-10 lbs is victory for me...

I think we have a great group of folks in this interesting and HARD challenge.  Anyone want to suggest a prize for the winner besides bragging rights.  We may have multiple winners if we each reach our goals--this is what I really would like to see and the intent behind the challenge.  Maybe we all pick a race next summer to do and we reward ourselves with the entry fee.

Updates will occur at noon Mountain time so get your weights in by then.  If more people join, they will be added at the noon update as well.  This way we won't get bogged down in the blog with tons of update tables.

I did a weight loss challenge a while back in which a TACKY dollar store tiara was granted to the winner.  In fact, it has been mailed all over the country and we have spent far more mailing it than it is worth!
Picture of it should be in one of my albums but I can't say for sure which one.
