Does anyone know how to convert the route to a gpx file?

Current in the Hudson is fast!  I did a comparison of Matty Reeds swim time from the Nautica NY Triathlon (.9) and the Rev 3 Knoxville (.9).  Both river swims and the the Hudson swim time was 2/3's of the Knoxville swim time.  !8 minutes + for Knoxville compared to 12 minutes + for Nautica....use that as a gauge of the current effect on the time.

I drive the bike course nearly everyday...its a parkway which means that you cant actually get on it with a bike.    My estimates right now is that the total elevation gain will be around 6,000+ feet.  I'll have gps files soon.

Sadly, there's not too much here in Southeast Michigan in the way of hill training

Central Florida is a little lacking in the hills as well, although I hear Clermont (about an hours drive) has some good training areas.

Does anyone know how they are going to handle transportation from the transition area to the finish area and back again.  There will need to be some way for the spectators to get from transition to the finish for viewing and the athletes will need to get back to transition after the finish.

I know they are going have a ferry to get us to the swim start.

Just curious how they are going to handle all of that.

Thanks for the info on the elevation gains for the bike     I avoided Lake Placid because of the hills but it looks like we are in for the same if not worse on the bike here.  At least the run should be flatter aside from the climb up to the bridge.  Looks like I have a lot of hill training in the near future.

Didn't know this thread was alive just yet.  I'm in too.  It'll be my 6th IM (as long as everything goes as planned in Texas a few months before hand)

The current is going to be an interesting twist.  I did the NYC Nautica race a few years back and the early waves were just flying down river, along with all the damn jellyfish, and other debris.  However, when my wave got in the water there was very little current and I ended up right around my normal swim time.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a nice little push down the river.

I had some free time at the office today so I downloaded the participant list and threw it in a database to see how it breaks down.  See attached spreadsheet (if it works) for all the particulars but here are the highlights.

Hopefully my next ride in that area will end with better results than my last ride there when I was hit by a car.  Not even a nice BMW either, just some dude who was living out of his car.  He decided that he wanted to move and on his way decided to put me down.  I hope the rest of his move went smoothly
