Heavy-Dee - 2006-01-18 1:49 PM  Fine, just bear in mind that this may actually cause people to NOT donate. Like myself for instance. I just can't participate in such blasphemy.

Now *that's* shallow.

I mean seriously, it's hair. It grows back. Why do appearances matter so much?

And I think it's a really cool show of solidarity to cancer patients who have lost their hair.

I agree with Jim. And if one of my good friends had to lose their hair I would shave mine first in a heartbeat.

Exactly.  I really don't care what people think.  If they don't like me for my character then why do I want to have anything to do with them??  People are going to enjoy my company and want to hang out with me, regardless of what length my hair is.  And...cancer patients don't get to chose whether or not to keep their hair.  If anything, when people stare at me with a shaved head I can tell them why it's like that, tell them about the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Team in Training, etc.  There's something good will come out of this.  And...the main reason is to raise money for the Society- that's the most important part of all this.  What's wrong with helping a cause?  If you don't think that's a good thing, then yeah- I'll just call you Shallow Hal.

I am pleasantly surprised that Janelle has decided to do this. This is personal growth territory for her. Maybe me too. I'm starting to wonder what I could do to raise $3000 for a worthy charity...

Despite my post on the other thread regarding women looking better with longer hair (which I stand by) I'm also proud of you and I will donate.  Women with big hearts look pretty good, too.

Jim, stop typing, I said 'big hearts'.

p.s. just make sure you grow it back long!

I would be a bone marrow donor if it came down to it.  I mean we're talking about saving lives, not whether or not guys like short hair or not.  If I can help save a life or make a patient's life easier by raising some money and shaving my hair- to me, it's worth it.

I've never been superficial or vain, nor will I ever be.  I'm happy with the person I am regardless of the length of my hair.  And...it's for a darn good cause.  How could I not?

    Lot of stuff to address:

    3558 - 2006-01-18 12:26 PM

People would pay a lot of money to see the Confession thread something that never existed. That's for sure.

    I've had offers...

    Heavy-Dee - 2006-01-18 12:49 PM

If you can't look past your own preferences to realize the sacrifice she's making and donate based on that effort, perhaps you can make a donation to have her grow it back...

Are you registered? You can't be a bone marrow donor unless you are...

Whoa whoa whoa! Easy everyone. I'm playing. Sorry, this is the internet and my joke didn't come accross. My bad. And I'm not being sarcastic. Please accept my appologies.

Runnergirl29, it's an awesome thing that you are doing. My wife donated to locks of love a few years ago. We are still married. Promise.

You are going to feel so great when you shave it.  I did mine bald a couple of years ago and have kept it short ever since.  Definitely up there with life-altering moments...

Do you have before and after pics?  I would really love to see those!  I almost wish I could just hurry up and shave it so I don't keep thinking about it.  It's one of those things where if you're gonna do it, just do it.  But...I need to make sure that the money is raised before I shave it.
