Well that depends. Have you started supporting the Falcons and UGA or are you still a die hard Pirate and Pant--- oh wait you are a Cowboy fan. Ok are still at least a Pirate?

Hope the knee is healing.

There is about 15-20 from Northeast Tenn. coming down for the race, including a big chunk of the Tricitiestri club.  Can't wait!

Hmmm, I don't know.  I just reran it again, resetting elevation.  Usually that cures any hiccups.  But it came back at 2507 ft for the same route.  I'm looking at the climbs, and here's what I see:

250 feet from T1 to 64

Have not ridden in the park, but I believe the 3mi from T1 to US64 is a solid climb

180 feet over the next 10 miles

Once you cross the bridge on 64 it climbs decently to the right turn onto Beaver Creek. Then there are a couple of solid ups on Pea Ridge till the park entrance where Duke HIM used to start

Big downhill pretty much to the end of Pea Ridge

Start the long sucky uphill on Old 1 and climb 175 over about 6-7 miles

Pretty much a consistant uphill on old US1

100 feet of random ups and downs down by Harris Lake

250 feet of BIG climbs back up Avent Ferry (remember the backside of Triangle?  Get to go reverse up those)

Pretty much what I think looks like the toughest 5mi stretch of the race once you cross the bridge over Harris lake until you get to Avent Ferry.

300-400 at least until about mile 48

Solid rollers on Optomist farm

Big downhill and big uphill about mile 49, about 100 feet

More big down and up on Lake Wheeler (around Yates Mill area), 100-150

Yep. Solid climb from Yates Mill pond up to Tryon Rd.

That only adds up to about 1700, but I'm sure I'm missing a lot of the 50-100 foot climbs.

I won't discount that 2500 feet until I ride the course.

Yep you could be right Bill. When you break it up like that.

I can help...I rode the entire course about a week after it was announced.  There was one part off of NC 55 that we couldn't ride due to construction, so there is a small detour in there and is the reason why the distance is a little long.  I got right around 2300 of total climbing on my Edge 500 and 2800 my 910.

Here is my garmin data - http://connect.garmin.com/activity/212175193

The road coming out of T1 to NC 64 sucks.  It is very narrow and is going to be a draft-fest going up the hill.  The hill isn't too bad though.  The second half of the course is pretty hilly.  There are some nasty rollers and seem to just keep coming over and over.

Awesome. Great that you are coming up for this one Michael. If you learn to swim before then, please pass some of that on, because I am struggling to get a smooth stroke while wearing floaties.

Just remember, when the swim marshall comes -- you saw them floating in the water and picked them up to turn them in.  And for penance, you have to run a marathon the next day.

I will probably try to get up there and ride the course some time next spring.  It might be fun to try to get a group together.

Anyone out there besides me get a burst of training energy after this past weekend?  I saw part of Kona on the Ironmanlive feed and read some good after-race articles and interviews.

I'm headed out for a run now.  Mainly because I need it...not so much because it will really make a difference come June 2013.

But if you continue to do them from now till June they will make a huge difference.

x200.  I'd be willing to bet that for most triathletes, training over the next 20 weeks has a lot more to do with your success in the race than does training over the 6 weeks prior to the race.  A lot of that difference follows from the fact that if you train well over the next 20 weeks, you will be in a great position to peak for those spring races.   If you (and by 'you' I mean most triathletes, not necessarily YOU) slack off now, you'll spend late winter preparing to go the distance instead of preparing to crush the distance.

The race site says the water is expected to be in the mid- to upper-70s.  Does anyone have experience swimming there around Memorial Day?  Re: We're only 7.5 months away and of course I need to plan whether or not to bring my wetsuit.

If the race is wetsuit legal, it will be very close.  I did a race at this site on June 17 of this year that was wetsuit legal according to USAT rules.  Just remember, WTC rules are slightly different and I believe the wetsuit cutoff is 76.1 degrees (vs 78 for USAT), although you can wear a wetsuit up to 83.9 if you are willing to take yourself out of the running for awards.

Don't know if there is a race that fits prep as a Raliegh 70.3 they might be to close to June 3rd

My tentative plan is to race a half Marathon in March , and an international (bellows Lake) in the spring...we will know more when setups releases there 2013 schedule in a couple of weeks

I'm hoping Belews is on the weekend of April 6th, then I'll do Tar Heel 10 Miler on April 20. If Belews is on April 13th, then I'll skip TH10. I haven't trained consistently in months, so today marks my "prep for prep" start of IM 70.3 Raleigh Training.

White Lake Half has been moved to April 6th for 2013.  Look for Belews Lake International to be either April 13th or April 20th.

I could get by doing the sprint at White Lake and then the TH10 on the 20th, too, I guess. Have to wait and see how my training unfolds.

Just remember, the sprint will still be the Sunday of the first weekend in May (Saturday of that weekend will be an Olympic/international distance race).  The new weekend in April will be for the half iron only, IIRC.

There will be a new HIM in the fall in the Charlotte area.

There will be an extra race at White Lake.

Kure Beach is no longer but that format will be staged at a different beach/town.

Cool Breeze and Huntersville Triathlon are possibly not going to be back next year.  These two races may be replaced by 1 new event at a facility in that same North Charlotte area.
