Master 1254 Chesapeake, VA | Subject: RE: Dating a triathlete... Butchcantswim - 2006-10-03 12:20 AM "I enjoy sharing quiet moments together." Really means: It's taper time. Just back off because I am strategizing and in a pissy mood because I am worried about my "A" race and can't workout. I resemble this remark! Butchcantswim - 2006-10-03 12:20 AM "I enjoy road trips and leisurely drives." Really means: You have your choice of Wisconsin, Idaho, Florida, California, Arizona, and Canada, but don't expect to do much site seeing. If I get enough support from you we might be able to include Hawaii in there. This one is my favorite.
Thanks for posting - this always give me a good chuckle as it isn't too far from the truth. |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: Dating a triathlete... that's hysterical...my husband doesn't train in any way with me. I'm lucky he puts up with the crazy food issues and 5 AM wake ups on days off for my swim practice. Thought he was going to blow a gasket when the new bike came home last weekend. Replacing running shoes and bathing suits (again) will probably send him into orbit. At least he drags himself and the kids to my races and acts somewhat supportive ( if you call doing paperwork while waiting for the start time and between transitions supportive) |

This is hilarious! Being recently divorced and jumping back into the dating scene, I am going through this as we speak... Me: I need to get home a little early. My date: For what? Me: I'm getting up at 7am to run 10 miles. My date: For fun? Me: Uhhhhh, yeah. Want to join me? My date: No. Me: It was nice to meet you.
(Ha ha... that didn't really happen, but most of the guys I am dating think I am completely nutso! ) I'm surprised, actually. Boston is full of runners. And there are lots of cyclists there too. I lived there for 5 years, and it has somewhat of a reputation as a "fit" city. You're just not looking hard enough |

Extreme Veteran 426 Somewhere in your dreams | Subject: RE: Dating a triathlete... Ok, so here is the latest dating or almost dating saga for me...... I met this guy at a party a few weeks ago and he asked for my number. He seemed nice and we chatted at the party so I didn't mind giving it to him. Well, when he called we did the chat and get to know each other. I told him about the triathlons that I am training for and he immediately compares my 8-10 hours a week of training to his 4 days a week at the gym. Now, I am NOT a tri snob but I just think what we do is completely different than doing the eliptical or stair climber. He then proceeded to tell me that he rides his bike to the gym (all of 2 miles) and then starts laughing about the distances that I am training for and what not. I proceeded to tell him that I really don't go out too often and that I have had to cut back on adult beverages and then he goes of laughing and telling me to stop and that I need to learn to live life and that I shouldn't be like that.... Can anyone tell me why I have yet to return his phone call?!?!?!? My theme song is "Another one bites the dust" |

(She doesn't exercise.) Bleah! Of course, you have to know your limitations..... but there's nothing wrong with trying to stretch and push your limits a little, too! I'm better off finding someone who is also athletic and active even if she's not into the all the same sports. Athletic girls are hotter. |

My mother tries to exercise and rides her bike but then complains that she is so slow and never gets faster and then she pouts. I told her that is because she only rides once every two weeks and that she needs to get at it more. Ugh! She saw me today after a long ride in the heat and said she does not think what I am doing is healthy. Either you get it or you don't and she clearly does not get it! |

Oh, lover boy called me back two days later and was laughing and chuckling in the message because he wanted to see if my legs were sore from the long ride I did two days before. Obviously I did NOT call him back! Why can't I just meet a nice normal/psycho triathlete (I mean aren't triathletes somewhat psycho )?!?!?! And we only have two tri clubs here but I prefer to be on my own. Butchcantswim - 2007-06-30 2:30 PM Wow guys, this got popular quick! So on the first phone call this guy is already criticizing your decisions and being patronizing? And I thought I was bad at dating. One point in his favor, he's being right up front with his idiocy. |

He is not an athlete, but he does take good care of himself and maintains his fitness. It was particularly timely because I am just wrapping up my biggest pre Musselman Half Iron wk of training and the following wk I will sign up for IMLP. His comment? "Yes, it really made me laugh...It's a great list of all the things I love about you"... This guy is a total KEEPER! And I should know...We have been married for 28 years! Moral of this post?? I mean you dont want exercie interfering with your life or anything... she doesnt even think doing long racing is really a good idea... takes up too much time.... Guys are just as bad....The thing is when a guy offers to take me out its always to a bar for 'drinks' or dinner and 'drinks', out late etc... I took one riding once, he freaked out when I was in lycra and he had an old t-shirt, shorts and a mountain bike...so no wonder Im not dating!!! Edited by kaqphin 2007-07-01 6:03 AM |
