I'm getting nervous about this race alrady...I have never been in a race with over 400 people...so 3800 is a bit overwhelming...

Can't wait to see everyone...the last (and only) other Olympic race I did was a blast because I got to meet all of you guys - Q, Kendall, Peter, Lucy, etc

Anyone planning on doing the Buc's Draft Day Dash on Saturday before St. A's?

I think I may do it again this year even though is is the day before the big race

Maybe, but I might just do Meek and Mighty that day. I don't have a wetsuit and was too poor to register for St. As but I think Vols get a discount for a lil o' race.
I will be volunteering again on Sunday.

Wow seems like it is so soon all the sudden. Wonder if I'll be healthy by then and actually have run 6.2 miles before the race. I keep having some stupid injury stuff reappear.

I can't wait to come to FL...just started a new job and after 3 weeks going to be gone 12 days...great way to impress folks.

Welcome to the club!  I slipped and fell in the bathroom and hurt my back a little.  I almost opted out since I had the accident a few days before the cutoff, but since I already had a plane ticket I didn't.  I decided I would go insane if I travelled down there to watch the race.  My training has been aweful, so this race it going to be painfully slow.

My mantra for the race is "this is fun, this is fun, I'm not doing this for the mon."

Awww....c'mon ladies, you all are going to do just fine!  Make sure that you enjoy the experience at whatever pace you take it.  And definitely enjoy the sunshine and warmer weather...gotta love Florida for that!

Looking forward to seeing everyone!  I'm in Spain right now and haven't made any hotel plans, because I don't know what our family schedule's going to be like that weekend.  I guess I'll figure it out in a week or so when I get home.

26 days and counting!!. AAA!

Did this race last year with a wet suit - water was about 72F and I was overheating by the first turn. No wet suit this year. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

They said it was 72. There is no way it was. I was overheating as well, and can all but guarantee that the water temp was above wetsuit legal temps.

I heard last year the temp wasn't wetsuit legal, but they allowed it because of the waves.

'Wetsuit legal' is a bit of a misnomer.  AG athletes can wear a wetsuit at their discretion if the water temp is 84 degrees or less.  You just won't be eligible for AG awards or prizes.  I'll be in my sleeveless version if it's 78 or less.

And I bet they find a way to make it wetsuit legal to assist all the new triathletes, especially if there's chop in the water.

I'd be happy to arrange some social events.  Jess will be doing the race (I opted out, I wanted to relax after IMAZ, not get ready for another race) so I'll be the only local BTer not racing.  I'm glad to figure some stuff out, suggest meeting places (last year's places were pretty good) and figure out a pre-race dinner location (NOT Spaghetti Warehouse!! HAHA) and all that stuff.  I'll have a couple weeks after IMAZ to sit around and think about this stuff, so definitely fire some suggestions my way and I can figure this all out.

PM me for more info.

I'm up for anything.  I am coming down on Friday and staying with a friend who is doing the race for the weekend.  I'll probably do dinner with him on Friday, but Saturday is open besides bike drop and packet pickup.

So if you are also looking for numbers for dinner.  Count 2 here.

I've been recovering from a broken toe so I haven't been in the water in about 3 weeks and prior to that I wasn't doing much swimming. My goal is 3 times a week from now until St. A's.

Luckily my thin Carribean blood keeps me from getting overheated in my wetsuit. I practice at My Local YMCA while the seniors are doing their water aerobics and the pool is a chilly 80 degrees . I have yet to overheat.

Say what you want about the wetsuit, the added buoyancy makes me feel less afraid better in the water.

I'm interested in meeting up for dinner as well.

Last year we went to DISH in St. Pete.  Is anyone interested in doing something with similar food selection or would y'all rather have a more pasta-oriented menu?  I'm assuming we want to do something close to the race venue as well...so post your preferences and I'll go looking for something in St. Pete that suits our collective taste.  I'll use my post-IMAZ rest period to do all the research and get fat eating at all these places post my findings here so we can decide.

I don't eat pasta so a place with more choices would be excellant.

From the reports last year the places you went to were great. Thanks for stepping up to organize this...looking forward to meeting you!

Likewise Kathy!

OK, personally I think DISH was awesome.  I would definitely go back, but just not sure what everyone else thinks.  They do have a very large selection and you choose every ingredient, so it's EXTREMELY user-friendly and about as customizable as you can get.

What about Friday peeps?  A bunch of us got together and had sandwiches at TooJay's...in the same plaza where DISH is...Baywalk.   Would anyone wanna do that again?  I'm up for just about as many BT events as possible.

Also, to answer Betsy's previous question, I'm doing the Draft Day Dash this year too.  Is anyone else?  Fun little 5K at the Raymond James Stadium.

I prefer a pasta dish the night before, but it doesn't have to be an all pasta place, just have it on the menu.
