Artemis - 2010-03-06 10:27 PM I was planning on running today, but I was sidelined with a headache.  I'm going to try to run and bike tomorrow to make up for it.
Bummer. Hope you are feeling better quickly!

kns57 - 2010-03-05 9:05 PM Hello team, I miss a couple of days on here and we are already on page 23.  Wow!

And then I was going to ask about a chart and there are two backgrounds posted.  I like the second one with the wind.

I have managed to get in my workouts this week.  2 swim, 2 bike, 2 strength, so I'm at 25%.

I'll have to catch up on Sunday to see what everyone else has been doing.

Way to go with getting the work outs in!

Sunny and warmish here in Wisconsin.  I'm itching to do some yard work, but there are still at least 6 inches of snow cover.  Guess I'll need to wait a while!   I did get a very slow 8 mile run in.  Longest in a long time, and I did have to walk some.  I'm working on it...  Happy Weekend bEasties!

Way to get the miles in! You are doing great!

MDHillSlug - 2010-03-06 1:25 PM I went for a ride today with some people from my tri club. I fell behind before we had even gone a mile. There was no way I could hang with them and they left me in the dust. I did only 20 of the planned 32 miles. It wasn't any fun at all.

My legs have felt terrible for several months now, always tight, no spring.

That happend to me the first time I tried to ride with a Sat. morning group....I never went back! I think that will be a goal of mine this spring/summer! Keep trying until I don't get dropped!

yogachic - 2010-03-06 1:34 PM Just popping in here quickly for an update. . . Ran my first 16-miler today (my longest run ever!!) and I feel great!  It's a beautiful day out!!  I definitely ran the second half of the run faster than the first half, and I sprinted to the finish Smile

Now time for a shower and nap!

Wow great job!

My ride was killer too.  The first hour was GREAT.  I felt fabulous.  The second hour (which should have been only 30-45 min) was HORRIBLE!  My everything hurt.  My back, my legs, my head, you name it, I was dying!  I think it was too ambitious of a route for the first outdoor ride of the year.

Just think of the PR you will do as we get into summer!

rnihill - 2010-03-07 6:59 AM So, the 4 mile race that I was DREADING yesterday, actually went well!! I have never, and I mean NEVER been able to run any faster than 10 minute miles. I figured with my lack of running lately I would be happy to just finish under 40:00. I finished in 37:51!! At first I figured the course was short, but after talking to several other people who have done this race several times before they saud they think it is right one. The course was flat and the weather was in the 40's and SUNNY!!! What a fantastic morning. I followed it up with some treks around the neighborhood - my daughter on her bike and me sprinting after her and some driveway soccer. My wine last night tasted SO good... Today's plans are some swimming some biking and painting the bathroom...

WOOO HOOOO! Way to go!

My legs have felt terrible for several months now, always tight, no spring.

When I posted this yesterday I didn't spell out the fact after I fell off the group nobody came back to check up on me. Later in the afternoon I got an email from one of the other gals on the ride. She said that they didn't realize that they had lost me and that when they realized, they thought I was with someone and that all was OK, and only much later realized I was alone. She concluded by saying she felt bad about this, a rather weak apology. I responded by saying that I had a terrible ride, wouldn't have wanted to hold the group back, but that it would have been nice to have someone check on me.

Today, people are posting on the group email list that they enjoyed the ride, etc, but are not mentioning what happened to me. I'm thinking about posting:

Hmm, it wasn't much fun for me when I got left behind. I wouldn't have wanted to hold the group back but it would have been really nice for someone to have checked up on me. I'm an experienced rider, quite able to take care of myself on a solo ride, but I didn't think I was out on a solo ride. What if I had been a beginner out on a ride with you all? What if something HAD happened to me? Not cool!

Should I post it?

Thanks for letting me vent a bit here.

Post it, Nicole!!!  There's safety in numbers on a bike ride and they left you out there hanging.  You said it perfectly... "NOT COOL!"

It's 4:00 on Sunday and it is BEEEEEEAUTIFUL outside.  Sunny and almost 60 degrees.  I'm supposed to be heading out for a run right now, but a couple of our friends called and said they have chicken and steak on the BBQ and offered to bring it over if we supply the wine... INSTANT PARTY!  Decisions.... decisions.... Run vs. Wine/Food.  OK, the little devil on my shoulder just kicked the living crap out of the little angel... Where's the bottle opener!!!

Is it advertised as a no-drop ride or in a certain mph?  Either way, I think it would have been nice for them to check on you and it's what I would have done.

Totals for the day: 12.08 miles biking, 6.01 miles running

Is the little devil on my shoulder related to yours? This dilemma sounds so familiar. I do have to say, it was a good thing I got my run in early yesterday because it was SO nice to be able break out the BBQ and the wine. I love the first hints of spring!

So I did get my ride in this afternoon but didn't get my swim in. I'd go now but my husband has been good about being in charge of the kiddle-doos today while I painted the bathroom and then rode. I should be nice and give him a chance to get some stuff done today too! Besides, still have mountains of laundry to do and another coat of paint to get to. I have no worries about making it up this week.
