Overall I think it was about 5% higher. Too much in my opinion.

I think Revolver went at ~135% for the intervals. Actually got close to that once, before TR existed. I almost died on it. Not something I'd want to repeat. Hitting or just breaking 120% is fine for triathletes in that workout.

I read the same thing as this only this week from someone else. They are hard on TR, especially hhnf. I've read that cycleops is even worse. Can't remember which workout someone was referring to, but it was one of the ones with 20 min intervals. Cycleops had RPE of 7 set at around the 105% mark, and the video asked to do the 20 min intervals at 7.5, which bumped it up to 110%. If you could manage that, then your ftp is wrong.

Haven't tried or read much on Cycleops yet. I think TR does have these set so that if you are doing them at 100%, then you are close to an FTP bump. I don't have an issue with that. It's up to the person to adjust the IF of the workout from there. I do have an issue with what I saw in HHNF. If you're going to use the video for the workout then set it up to match the video. The surges and effort changes should match what the vid is saying up on the screen. Also, the first and second interval IF's should be somewhat close. I saw about 100% for the first and 105% for the second per TR work. That is too far apart. A couple watts different is understandable, but 5% is a rather substantial gap. The videos themselves are more even than that and I don't think that's as good of a way to execute them. Go high and strong across both.

Both source their palm oil from sustainable sources, so no help there. If the flavor is the same to you, my vote is for Justin's, purely because it is easier to get every last bit out of the container. I have a special Nutella knife, but even then I feel like I'm leaving some behind.

For about 20 years, I started every day at work with strawberry pop tarts.  I had a small toaster in my office and it was kind of a daily ritual along with my coffee.  A few years ago my toaster got yanked because of fire regulations so I only occasionally eat a cold one now.

But I've also branched out to enjoy chocolate fudge pop tarts as a frequent snack in the evenings.

Now Nutella is another story.  Not much a fan of it but my son goes nuts over it.

I've been a bad running buddy for the last few years, what with going into tri and then having a baby ... but i will genuinely miss her and feel the loss. We've been running together since 2007 and trained with her for 4 of my 5 marathons (and same for her

do you have training friends? Have you had to deal when the moved/left/stopped training with you?

Yeah, I've been through this a couple times. One was particularly hard because she was a training partner at a high level. I could count on her to be there for those really grueling workouts. We get pretty close and frankly, really enjoyed eachothers company. She got pregnant and then has suffered a couple stress fractures trying to get back. It's a totally bummer and I miss her. As far that the other stuff though, ultimately the motivation, the ability to get through a workout, the desire to even get out there in the first place has to come from you. So you can mourn the loss so to speak but know that the other part has to come from you anyway.

Perhaps you can take some time to try out some different groups and maybe find some other partners?

I have a question for Tour of Sufferlandia experts.  Most of the rides are on Trainerroad; I realize the videos 'make the ride' but it is possible to do them without the visual?  Can't see shelling out a bunch more cash right now...

Yes, you can just use the TR app. Couple of points to note this year though: trainer road is not partnering with sufferfest this time because sufferfest have released their own app and are now their competition. Also, there's a new video in this year's tour that hasn't been released yet. Whether the guys at TR towers will get a workout to match it out in time will remain to be seen.

I'd actually be ok with this.  Some of the targets on TR are borderline insane.  Anyone who does Revolver X 2 at 100% of TR's targets needs to retest their FTP.

I was only on TR for a couple weeks awhile back. Did they change HHNF? When I did it, they hardly matched up the changes in effort. Particularly in the early goings of both intervals, where there were surges. They also had a significant mismatch from interval 1 to 2 in that everything for 2 was ramped up harder. I've completed revolver at 100% of it's targets, and they are insanely high for what would normally be a great VO2 workout.  I'd do well to ride an hour of Z2 after that much less the same workout again.  It's an anerobic workout on steroids (I'll be doing said workout in about 30 minutes...hooray!).

HHNF as TR has the targets listed is impossible if your FTP is accurate.  I mean look at the profile on Sufferfest's site:

The first 20 minute alone is insane.  You'd have to have insane VO2 to threshold curve to be able to spike going into it, hold FTP for ~6 minutes and then do the rest of it well into VO2 range.  The second 20 minute enters impossible.

I go into that workout either set at 90% or try 100% knowing that I'm going to get ran into the ground.  I'll be curious to see what the Sufferfest app sets these targets to when the desktop version comes out.

I left HHNF at 100%, but was on virtual power during that time and felt almost 10% off. Thankfully so as the second one came up much harder than I thought it was going to be.

I do wish Sufferfest would fix their scale for the diagrams. The 7.5 is actually where 7.0 should be. It's made more difficult as in their older videos FTP is more like 7.0. The revamped Angels reflects this difference with the effort selection, but I don't know if all the others do. All the new ones for some time seem to have the 7.5 as FTP in mind though.

In the last 2 years I have aggravated this injured area a number of times, mainly when lifting my 80+kg (180lb) dogs. The latest aggravation happen just after Christmas when I was out walking a couple of my dogs and fell and landed face first on the road. I ended up landing predominately on my left had side and I am still sporting some of the bruises. I'm sure it looked pretty impressive as i did a delightful 180 spin as I fell. I see a Bowen therapist and she does a great job, I can now stand up straight, she fixed my shoulder that took a fair bit of the fall and I am relatively pain free, just very stiff. I don't drink coffee (I know but they still let me be a Manatee), but I do drink a bit of English Breakfast tea and partake of a fair bit of chocolate. ...
May I ask why you don't drink coffee anymore? Is it related to your recovery, or you just don't like it as much as you used to? o.O I personally prefer green tea (some kind of Oolong), but I drink a cup of Latte now and then.
I have never drunk coffee I don't like it. I don't even really care for the smell of it.

And, we still let you in the pod  Of course, I don't like pop tarts or nutella and I'm allowed in, so i guess I can't be too tough on you!

Somebody still fached the quoting up but I'm still grieving your distaste of Pop Tarts and Nutella ...

YAAAAAAAAY MOOOOOORE FOR MEEEEE

I realize more and more the great sacrifices Stace Face makes for me.

Crap, she gave me a BIKE.

She runs around after me and my idiot husband. OK, I'm the idiot, but he's ... well ... he's a special kind of ... special.

*cautiously raises hand* I don't like Nutella either!

Actually, I don't like anything chocolate - I know, I know, I should hang my head in shame or something, but I love just about everything else that's bad for me, caramel, ice cream, candies, cookies (ZOMG - Tony made ah-MAY-zing oatmeal cookies last night & whoever comes up with these "makes 36" weird numbers clearly never took into consideration the amount of cookie dough batter that is consumed before baking said cookies), pie, etc...

And I have pets (some days this includes Tony), so... basically I have no business being a Manatee, but you people kept me anyway.  Yay!

I stopped reading at the part where you said you don't like chocolate. I would probably be 40 pounds lighter if that were true for me. I have never tried Nutella, so I can't comment on that part. We were making chocolate chip cookies and buckeyes for Christmas and I couldn't stop eating the chocolate chips.
I stopped reading at the part when you said you've never had Nutella....
Ha, Ha, come on us Chicagoan's have to stick together.

Surpisingly enough, I haven't like Nutella, but I don't like hazelnuts either.

Nutella is nothing comparing to this gem: Milky Way spread (two colored) we have had in Poland (I am surprised I could not find it in US). It's the most addicting thing ever!

I think I've seen this years ago somewhere, but don't recall seeing it lately. I do prefer Nutella though, maybe it's because I grew up on it.

Wow not even a week into the New Year and already on page 16. Manatees never disappoint on the talk scale.

Lets see if I can get my butt back in gear and start training again. I was a Manatee back in 2013/13, then took a break from Triathlons/BT.

Had a flair up of Plantar Factitious (sp) in Sept 14 and have had trouble getting back motivated. I am now back up to about 245lbs from 205 and need to start getting back at it.

I am in luck (sorta), I will be on vacation the week of the Tour of Sufferlandia so .. well.. maybe next year.

Have great days.

Robin, I knew you were in WNC, but I didn't know the Asheville area. That is on the short list of retirement towns for me, along with Greenville SC and a couple of others around there.

That is funny seeing as you are living in the town I was raised in. Back when I was there, there was only a jr high. I ended up going to venice high. A lot of my friends went to port Charloltte (North Port existed only as a couple of gas stations).
