great job.  now, go turn the heat up to 90 in your house and somehow get the humidity up to 100% and have a fan blowing 25 mph on you.  then you'll be close to race day conditions.

I've been told its going to be 70 when I hit the bike. A little humid. But all good. then the run will hit 75 with a slight breeze to cool me off. Please do not deviate from the story i have been told.

Wow...looks like I missed a busy day of trash talking!

Hey - when are we going to get the virtual tri going?  That will give us all a reason to start trash talking!!

No shaved legs here.  It is enough work for me having to shave my face...I don't see a point in adding other places to regularly shave!

I was in training today and will be there tomorrow and Thurs so I won't be around the board much until Friday.

Have a good rest of the week!

LOL, driving 3 hrs to do a sub 1hr race, then driving 3 hrs back home.

Plan is to go all out but have sane transitions, still working on those.

Another beautiful 75 degree day today.  We are expecting 85 this weekend. In another month we will be at ...well let's just say the story you've been told may be slightly flawed. ..sorry.

As for me. I'm out of Lonestar.  I seem to be on a new hiking kick that I want to explore.  I've been doing Tri's since 06 and have done it all.  I would keep going and try to get faster if my body would cooperate but I've been injured since Aug 08 and the docs don't have answers and I'm really tired of trying to run while being in pain.  I will of course keep dabbling in everything since this is a lifestyle choice I've just decided not to "train" but be active.  I've been fighting this for some time and it's time to listen to the bod and heal.  I'll be back at some point.

I'm sorry I'm going to miss you all at Lonestar and was tempted to come up but the rest of the family was going to Port A that weekend and I want to be with them.  If any of you travel to San Antonio please look me up.  I work for Marriott and I'd be happy to help you out if I can.  If you will have me I'd like to stick around in the group and give my two cents every once in a while.

Happy Training!

Kelly

damn kelly.  i'm happy you're making the best decision for you but i hate to hear this.  not just lone star but big picture.  i hope you get healed up and come back to teach those of us like myself that are new to the game a lot of what you have to offer.  as for sticking around here, i really hope you do. you've seen that is not just triathlon here but a damn fine group of people.  i'd hate to lose one.

Knoxville Covenant Heath Half Marathon-Sunday 0730.  I'm a little nervous, I know I'll finish, but I am still worried about going to fast early and blowing up.  It is going to take a concious effort to maintain a slower pace in the beginning.  I am still recovering from a couple of workouts from last week, and with several days until the race, I expect my legs to feel strong by then.

I hope everyone has a great week and you all achieve your traning and race goals!

ME, ME, ME, TOO!!!!!!

Short sprint close to VA Beach.  Can't wait to get out and see how I feel.

Of course, I already have something to obsess over this season.  My coach gave me numbers to aim for this weekend.  I'm cool w/ the swim and run but the bike is way low.  I didn't ask at the time b/c I didn't want to seem foolish since he based it upon my FTP numbers.  Anyway, he said I should be able to do 16/16.5 mph.  My avg. last year during my 6 races (not including Mooseman) was over 18mph - all of which had longer bikes than this race.  Not sure why it's bothering me but it is.

5 Best Triathlon Festivals

by Liz Hichens

For serious tri addicts some masochist long ago created the tri festival. A tri fest offers participants the opportunity to race one more event throughout a weekend. It’s also a great way to travel with a family or group of people each racing a different event. We feel any weekend-long celebration of tri is great, but the greatest of all takes place the middle of Nowhere, California on May 1-2. Lake San Antonio, which is quite literally smack dab in the middle of nowhere, is home to the world-famous Wildflower Triathlon Festival, an annual party celebrating why triathlon kicks .

This year’s festivities kick off with a half iron-distance race on Saturday, followed by an enormous party on Saturday night, followed by a mountain bike tri and Olympic-distance race on Sunday morning. Grab your camping gear or rent an RV; just be sure to bring plenty of beer.
