I would give a vital body part to run in 60 degree temps!
I have to say I was thinking of you while rummaging through my dark closet this afternoon looking for my running shoes.  Lilia sleeps in our closet - no it's not punishment and is a large closet with her bed inside (it works great for naps).  Anyway I put her down and about 10 minutes realized my shoes were in there!  You know the wrath of a toddler woken up early from a nap so I was on my hands and knees fondeling shoes trying to match them up.  Unlike you, I was successful but only because I took the time to determine the difference in laces from the Asics and Zoots.

Now I'm going to do something I never thought I would do.... somebody PLEASE come to my house and eat the remainder of Betsy Balls in the freezer!  They are torturing me calling to me so I eat them and then I am tortured again but in a different way.  I have a tummy ache and had a yucky run this afternoon.  I guess I should go eat some real food.

Good Morning from Louisville everyone. I arrived to Louisville yesterday afternoon after a three hour ride from Barboursville, WV. It took me six hrs to get there from Baltimore. Great scenery through Maryland and West Virginia (lots of climbs).

Yesterday was check in day so I got all the usual goodies- carry back pack, transition bags, timing chip, athlete bracelet, etc; walked through the expo and had to get the 140.6 sticker which I am planning on putting it on the car on Monday and I also purchased an Ironman visor.

I walked next to the river heading towards where they have the exit from the water area and bike transition/run area- huge! I wanted to go for a little run or bike ride yesterday but before I knew it, the day got away form me and had to call it another rest day.

I am meeting a friend at the practice swim area this morning, we are planning to be in the water by 8:20ish hopefully and swim for about 20 minutes to get use to the murky dark waters of the Ohio river, it looks nasty! I'll be heading out for a bike ride around noon and after it will be crunch time to stage the bike and hand in all the bags.
After taking a gander at the river and reading the sign- I decided not to wear the white skinfit suit I had planned on using for the race. Good thing I brought the other one.
Family and friends will be able to follow via

Trust me on this, best cracker EVER.  I had plain Almond Nut-Thins.  Very tasty.  I understood every single ingrediant on the list (short list at that) and I am not a chemist.

I got a little extra rest on my run this weekend.  I am doing my long runs in a National Park we have here.  It's 8 miles around and very hilly, which of course I need.  I did the first loop before the sun fully came up over the mountains and it was an awesome loop, felt really strong.  I'm like "yes" this is what I have been looking for in my long runs.  Then the sun came out.    Man, what a factor that sun is at 2500ft with no shade.  I don't think it will be a factor during the marathon though.

That would have put an immediate stop to my run....likely bc I'd have a heart attack.

Ha, you wouldn't get far around here then.  I normally see non-lethal snakes but this is like my 4th rattler on my runs (I saw another tiny snake earlier, but not sure what type it was).  On the road I don't mind sine they are easy to spot, I hate finding them on the trail.  They are much harder to spot.  And EVERYTHING sounds like a rattle when your trail running.

Hi All.

I am back from the woods and back on line, after 17 days with no internets I am slowly catching up with work and life.
Short form, We spent 5 days in North Idaho going to Silverwood Amusment park and fishing with my boys. ( they both caught thier first Bass. I got in 3 runs there, nothing spectacular but got them in. We then made the run out to The Oplymia Penninsula for a week on the coast, I did a bit of single track and a whole lot of Kayaking, probably in the range of 15 miles over the week. All in all a much needed and relaxing trip with the family. Now back to training and life.

FYI... Gasoline and Saucony runners do not mix well, my liners turned to mush after I spilled gas on them in Spokane.

Eric I need some of your advice, for the last 3 wks or so every time I swim I've been cramping and it's forcing me to stop my workouts early.  Yesterday I cramped in the shins and feet, sometimes it's the quads or hamstrings..  It's basically all the muscles and nothing specific.  I don't cramp in the run or bike and this only has happened the last few wks.  The only thing that has changed for me is now I swim in a larger pool (a third larger) and now i only do kick turns.  do you know what can be the culprit?  I think i'm eating and drinking ok..

Rumour has it there were over 800 DNF's at Ironman Louisville.  That's a lot and tells you much about the conditions.  I hear they actually ran out of water on the bike course.
