Ha!! Got a vm from Kim (super-duper pissed and sad I missed her -- called her back but had to leave vm). She sounded fabulous (I wanted her to read me my bedtime story!)... and said it was the hardest thing she has ever done. And you can not understand how hard until you have done it. I can't wait to hear more about her day. Mooooooooooooo!!!!

Dino -- come home and post stories! Or are you still there cheering on the late-night finishers? I wanted to watch them each time, but just couldn't muster the energy to do it. I'm a total slacker.

Suzy, come home and post to us too!! Need to hear about your day!

I'm so proud of both of you guys!! Amazing, strong, inspirational, courageous, beautiful... I could go on and on!!

Gotta share some IM love... Had the weirdest thing happen to me today. Was going to the Mariners game with the fam and walking down the street to the stadium. I hear someone shout my name from a car... I see a woman and before I have a chance to register who it is she says, "It's me, Karen! From Ironman!"

This was the woman I met before the CDA race who really stuck with my heart that day and onward. (Her mom had raced Kona in 1988 and had died of breast cancer just a couple of weeks prior to CDA.) We found each other on FB post-race and have exchanged a few emails. She was in Seattle to run a race with her sister (that she ran with her mom last year, so very sad). I was totally blown away that she recognized me in time to call out. She was at a traffic light that turned green so we didn't get to talk, but it made my day, because of course I had awesome Ironman Women on the brain (mind out of the gutter, Trevor and John!). Loved it.

Checking in (can't) go back to sleep after waking to pee...gosh, I love sharing bodily functions with my MG! Sorry to scare everyone with losing the little device, I have a feeling it popped out of my tri top when i was grabbing my baggy for endurolytes. Enuff of the small talk, WOW, what an amazing experience, probably the number one hardest thing I have ever done in my life. Ironman will test your mettle, inch by inch, mile by mile. I will write more in my race report, promise, but you honestly can't know what your decisions will be until you are out there in the heat of the moment (pun intended!). Need to check in on Suzy later, she finished strong, but needed to go right home (after taking the obligatory Irontwins photo. All I can say is, that girl is Tough As Nails! Thank you for all of the support yesterday, it was felt and at times, I let you all say woo hoo at those timing mats, because even whispering it to myself was physically draining. Ok, guess I may as well head over to check out finisher gear when people start lining up. Maybe I will get to eat some cheese today!

Thanks for all the well wishes!  To borrow a phrase from my awesome Twin, yetesterday was all about "adapt and overcome"!  From getting mauled and kicked in the head until I saw stars at my new swim start position, to riding 1:15 minutes with a broken front cable, to losing 21 minutes waiting for SAG to fix it, to dealing with no bathroom breaks except for mile 30 on the bike wondering if I was dehydrated or suffering from hyponatermia and really suffering on that run (from crazy girl cramps with no ability to take Advil safely).  Sorry guys--course Dino already heard this sob story yesterday!  All in all, the toughest race day of my life.  Everytime something was thrown at me, I evaluated it and figured out a way to get over it.  Probably the best part of my race because it'll make me that much stronger in '12 (Yep, signed up on Saturday).

Kim and I haven't downloaded our day yet, but will do so this morning. So proud of my Twin and doing her first IM in my home town.  Simply awesome.

fattyfatfat - 2011-09-12 7:00 AM where are your race reports?   hurry up.

Tomorrow, tomorrow there's always tomorrow, it's only a day away!

Off to help Kim with her bike, go to the awards thingy and then resolve to pack more crap for our move next week!  I refuse to think about the fact I have to take Kim and Kathy to the airport already.  Today is one of those days you want to just hang out.

Yep, tough as nails.  I agree completely.

Suzy and Kim: amazing, awesome, "cold iron" (and you have to read Steven Erikson to understand that one).
