Expert 1323 Rowlett, TX | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED! For those that are using power how do you keep the power in range when going uphill? I ave. about 230 on my last ride but some of the hills I was doing 300-330 and only going 10 mph. Should I be seeing a 100 watt spike on hills. I know it takes alot to get my up the hill. |

If you ride with a group you will notice your power scream (200+W increase from your previous W) if you plan to keep pace going uphill. On solo rides I typically only let the power get 50-100W above the planned power goal on hills. A group ride typically does the same thing after a turn. They "hammer" coming out of the turn and the power can exceed 500W if you plan to keep up. My vote would be to take the 10mph at 330W uphill and have more energy for the rest of the bike and the run. You will have a better shot at hitting your aggressive power goal and hitting your run pace. My thought is the overall pace for the ride and the run will make up for the speed you lost on the hill. If the hill is at the end of a training ride with no run scheduled after it - have at it and build some strength in your legs. I have pulled over 1000W on a few rides for a few seconds. You can't re-light that match though. I am sure Eric will chime in when he has time. He hasn't missed a bike w/power question yet. |

Pro 4482 NJ | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED! Happy Friday everyone. A little story to share with you before the weekend begins. I am heading to the shore tomorrow, so I bumped my long run up a day. I was a mile and a half from home on a road with almost no traffic. My hammy was feeling really tight so I stopped to stretch a bit. A van pulled over and the driver (middle aged man) asked if I was ok. I told him "thanks, yes I'm fine." He then said "well, you don't look fine." Hello??? I'd run 14.5 miles already. Of course I looked like carp. He kept saying "you don't look fine" and ignored my responses. I was getting really creeped out, but thankfully another car stopped and that driver asked if everything was ok. The guy in the van then left. He was probably nothing but a decent sort that wanted to help if needed, but I was seriously glad I had mace clipped on my fuel belt. And mile 16 was done at the fastest pace of the entire run. Nothing like a little motivation. |

Nothing like a little motivation. Not a fair fight 14 miles into a run. Bring his @$$ back when you are fresh! Really glad the second car stopped and that you at least had mace. I can't keep Keri from tracking idiot drivers to their house much less bringing mace and letting things go. I can't say too much I had a bit of a road rage incident early in my road riding last year. I needed to remember how many people in TX carry guns toi stop that routine. |

Master 1623 | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED! Hey everyone! Feel like I havent posted in a while so here's a quick update. Been sick since Wednesday night with some cold that just won't go away. Feeling better now but still coughing a lot. But good news, I got an internship on campus with Student Media. I get to do some marketing and advertising as well as help them find new sources of revenue. I'm extremely excited to start this. My boss is just awesome. It'll take some time from training but its only about 15 hours a week so I'll still be able to get my training sessions in every day (if this stupid cough ever goes away that is) Hope everyones having a great start to their week! |

It was very wet and crowded (5000 ish participants though around 7000 registered). Yet another great learning experience and fun time. thought I'd share my rr. Nations |
