I haven't either, starting to wonder about that. Hope it comes soon... X3. wounder if i will get it before i leave for wilmington. My guide came yesterday. LOL about "man card" and 73 degree water (some pages back). No - won't need the cap (or booties, or gloves). Also laughing at the taper talk for you 140.6 folks. Man, you guys rock. My taper is an easy hour spin tonight while watching the World Series, then a light 4 mile run tomorrow, a 1,500 m swim Monday and then I am pretty much done. Though making sure to stretch several times a day, and eating healthy (okay, forget the bourbon I am currently sipping). Race day weather: mostly sunny with temps of 45-67 degrees. Like it.

+1 on the stretching, but my last snort was last month. Next one is providing motivation for reaching the finish line Edited by Oldteen 2011-10-22 8:44 PM |

I'm almost positive there was nothing in T1, but that isn't a big deal because you loaded your bike in the AM. I think their was an aid station not far after T2, but I'm not sure. I always put a bottle of water and a GU in my T2 bag. I eventually chuck the bottle at an aid station. |

Master 1770 Bedford, MA | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread I ran a little temperature test this morning to test out what to wear on race day morning. I wore my tri suit, a light pair of gloves, arm warmers, and a pair of biking socks. The temperature was 45 degrees, probably around what it will be coming out of the water. I did feel chilly initially, especially my fingers and ears, but after about ten minutes I warmed up to being comfortable. My toes got pretty cold though, so I'm thinking of bringing along neoprene covers for my shoes. I definitely felt under-dressed compared to other bikers that I saw who were all wearing full tights and jackets, and I probably looked a bit funny on a road bike with my setup (my tri bike is waiting for me in NC). I can't wait till race day - maybe it's the taper that's getting me all giddy! |

Based on weather report (low upper 40's, high upper 60's) I'm wearing light SS base layer, bike jersey, arm warmers, headband (sweatband), & normal cycling socks with my Sidi shoes (vent holes taped). No toe covers or gloves. One of the benefits of riding slower (18mph??) is lower wind-chill
BTW- Any other BTers going to the Thurs PM dinner? |

I think Doug is correct about T2 after the first bridge leaving the battleship area and before the draw bridge there was an aid station. T1 is a blur not to mention a bit hectic with the packed changing tent and as mentioned your bike should be loaded up so get on the road and moving. |

Member 72 Kodiak, AK | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread Seems like it's really hard to know how cold it's going to be in the morning at this point. Upper 40's doesn't sound so bad to me, but I may have a bit of a bias there. Expert 1706 NoVA | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread Sounds like you guys are in for "warm" weather compared to '09. It was high 30's at the start of the swim and right at 40 when I started the bike---I had made the decision to stay with my trisuit but put on a long sleeve bike jersey (full zip so still easy to put on wet), cheap stretch cotton gloves and the neoprene toe covers on my bike shoes---can't say I noticed the temp since I was "warm" from the swim and it warmed up during the morning---I eventually dumped the gloves and was fine in the long sleeve jersey once it hit 60. Gotta say you all have me wishing I was racing this year....probably next year as I feel I have "unfinished business" on this course! Enjoy your day and make the most of all your training! |

New user 339 Salisbury | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread Swam part of the course Saturday from full start down to Blockade Runner. Water was little colder then 2 weeks ago my face was a bit numb for the first few minutes, feet were okay. No wind so channel was flat and calm. I also later swam in the Ocean in board shorts and also went for a dip on Sunday to help alliviate any fears of cold water. The wind kicked up to 15 mph on Sunday creating chop so if we get a calm morning channel should be glasssy, just depends on the wind. Don't sweat the swim it should be a lot of fun good luck all.
