Oo la. I'll donate 1/2 the proceeds to charity. The other 1/2, I'm keeping as a "nice guy fee." LOL She is gone...finally. I went in and woke her up and said "where am I dropping you off at? You can't spend the night again..." I drove her 30 miles home. She did say she is going to rehab. We shall see. I genuinely hope that she does. She is a beautiful girl, and the sober version (the one I met the first day) is someone I would have sex with...Lots and lots of sex. (if that's too much info for my fellow pod mates, blame Jo - she's the one that said "bring it") LOL I don't think it will be the last time I here from her. She now has a mad crush on me because "I'm the nicest guy she's ever met." Next time she calls me, I will inform her that she needs to focus on herself and not relationships.... I don't need or want this drama in my very stable / mostly normal life. Now I must sleep... it's been a long weekend.

CLOSED jogo - 2013-02-10 3:14 PM TriAya - 2013-02-10 3:01 PM jobaxas - 2013-02-11 3:11 AM Manatees yesterday I was gearing myself up to go out on my bike not for long just a practice and then do 40 km indoors. Well complete emotional meltdown I never knew I was so scared of it! Geez it's irrational I did a HIM last year what is wrong with me.!!!However I saw the ladies group at Artemis tri club Sunday they were off for a ride and I noticed four out of the six didnt have clip less they just had flat pedals no cages no nothing and I thought maybe that's what it is ? So DH changed my pedals and tomorrow me and Artemis will hit the park see how we go. I may become an ironman going old school pedals and a road bike no tri bars! If it works why the hell not?! 'Twas a chickie at WA with just sneakers on her flat pedals ... she smoked me ... on the run. But there are people at Ironman who go old-school! I used to go NUTS having to fuss with all the bike equipment and stuff for long rides and water bottles and lube and this and that ... I say just frog it and ride! If you need something on the way, buy it ... if something breaks down, take the train or a bus back! If you go old school, then you must get a bell on your bike. No old-school road bike is complete without a bell. I went back to a road bike(with clip road pedals) from a road bike that had aero bars on and SPD (mountain bike) pedals. My friends (there are 3 from my running club) who all share my road bike with aero bars that they now have put flat pedals on. Take away message: Whatever works for you is what is best for you. What JoGo said. BTW, I love the bell idea! |

Master 9705 Raleigh, NC area | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors, Part 2! CLOSED KansasMom - 2013-02-09 6:30 PM I survived. It was a mess. I slipped once, very gently just slid right off my feet and into the soft mud on my left side. No problem there. The trail was so bad that on two of the worst hills, there were ropes for us to pull ourselves up. I predict that my upper body and palms will be the most sore tomorrow. My 14:30 per mile pace is the slowest I have ever run. It was just brutal.(I don't think, well I know, I wasn't the very back of the pack. I passed a bunch of people. I learned a lot. I am beat. Congratulations Felicia! You are simply amazing! |

Master 6595 Rio Rancho, NM | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors, Part 2! CLOSED Busy weekend for the Manatees! Michael, good on you for helping your neice! You will both benefit long term. Chad, wow, just wow. Not many men would be honorable enough to do what you did. Felicia, congrats on a great race. Hope you are recovering well. Jen, adorable pic! Much better use of the foam roller. Jo, I'm glad you are tearing down the "roadblocks" on the bike. Heck, put on a banana seat and streamers if that makes you have fun riding! My weekend was fairly uneventful. I bought a new, much larger, aero bottle to replace the broken one and got some race nutrition advice from the owner of my LTS (local tri shop). He suggested some Hammer Nutrition Endurolyte capsules on the bike, instead of sports drink. So for my ride yesterday, which ended up being 2 hours outside and 2 hours on the drainer because of the New Mexico spring winds, I did 3 waffles, a pb GU, and one of the endurolytes. I liked the PB Gu so now I am up to two flavors I like I did one half of a waffle every half hour but stomach was quesy the last half hour so I skipped that one. Not sure what I think of the pills. James at the LTS said to take one every hour. Not sure how to judge the effectiveness on those. Caught a cold over the weekend. It didn't affect my training Saturday or Sunday but this morning I could not breathe and knew swimming was not a good idea. Might give it a try later if the breathing opens up. |

Veteran 416 Cleveland, Tennessee | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors, Part 2! CLOSED I failed my running streak on Saturday. I got home after swimming and started watching tv, I stayed there and took a nap. I figured I would switch to a 30 workouts in 30 day streak but that fell apart yesterday as I spent most of the day reading for my class. So, with the new week will come a new attempt at starting a new streak. I last week I missed several of my bike workouts so I need to improve that this week. I hope everyone has a great week. |

LOL you won't be anywhere near the cutoff times, but seriously, the less time you can spend in the onshore headwinds on the last part of the bike course, the better. I of course was in the second-to-last wave, heh! I can't stress getting to transition early enough. You'll likely have to bike in as cars can't get very close, so bring a light for your bike and a headlamp to set transition up. It is very huge and very packed and very busy. Honestly, IM transition areas weren't that intimidating after Oceanside. |

BLARGH--sorry about the cold! Remember that Endurolytes are a pretty concentrated source of electrolytes, but won't give you any calories/sugar like a sports drink will. |

My new aero bottle is actually two bottles in one so I could put sports drink in one and water in the other. I can't find locally the PowerBar Perform that will be on the course.
