Hiya Manatees!  I can be taken off the DL for my stupid knee, but my stupid brain has had me down for the count since Wednesday afternoon... hoping to be okay to do a loop of the Austin 70.3 bike course tomorrow morning... and debating whether I should try and swim today or just leave it because my brain still kinda hates me.

What the heck is up with your brain?  Has it melted from the heat or something?

I don't think it likes it's living quarters any longer as it feels like it's trying to escape by using an ice pick from the inside out.

I was a bad Manatee today. I skipped the run/race this morning. I was not "feeling" it. It has been a rough week this week for me, more mental/emotional than anything. Planning to get back on track on Monday and force myself to go run/bike.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

Monica, tell your brain it needs to stay put.  You may be blond but you really don't want to be brainless.  Besides, it might need to be reminded that it won't get very far without legs so its break-out plan isn't well thought out.

Jonathan, it's okay.  There are worse things than sitting out a race.  You're not booted out of the Pod.  Sorry to hear the week has taken such a toll.  I've been hearing the news about that part of the world and thinking of you.

Both of you, take care of yourselves, okay?  (((hugs)))

Well, I did only say probably. :P.

I think that Randee was saying that she's a single track kinda rider!  She's got skillz!

You mean she has a single track mind?

She's not the only one who's done a fair amount of single track.

I raced my whole first year on a loaned bike while I saved to by my current one. Take your time and do your homework. But most of all just enjoy yourself.

Go TJ.

Smart call to skip it Jonathan. Sometimes we just need some mental down time and I am sure where you are that it is more needed than for the rest of us. Thinking of you and praying that you all stay safe.

Jazz arrived safely last night. She was pretty good only whined for a little bit before sleeping most of the night. Thank goodness.

Awwww, Stacey, Jazz looks like a sweetie.  Such a sweet soft puppy muzzle.  Does she still have puppy breath or is she too old for that now?

TJ, glad to hear you had a good time at the race, despite the mechanical issues.  Looking forward to reading your RR!  (Note the subtle encouragement to write RR's promptly so no details get lost in the mists of time.  Not that that's an issue for you, TJ, but there are some among us who, well, I think most of you know what/who I'm talking about!! )

I need moral support from the pod.

Yesterday I was happy and talking to DH and others about whether I wanted to do IMAZ or IM Boulder and today I'm feeling fat and slow an extremely mopey and self-pity-ing. :/

It's not like I'm coming off a major race or anything! Granted the pix from yesterday are reminding me how "soft" I've gotten, but seriously! WTH?!?!?!?

I think you need more coffee! That will make you feel faster and more energetic Just remember, "Soft happens. It's how you deal with soft that matters." Also, you know IMAZ is calling. T and Mak are great with cowbells. :D

You did great yesterday!  You had mechanical issues and you dealt with it.  You didn't give up or sit on the side of the road and cry about it.  You will get your retribution at Patriot in five weeks.

As for the pictures, use the delete key!

Fat, slow, mopey, self-pitying days happen.  I have 'em too and they suck.  I usually manage by sitting in the mopey muck until I can't stand it anymore, then get back out there and do something.  I often end up surprised at how not-slow I am and it especially helps if I don't look at anybody else's training logs!!  Besides, you've had a few things to slow you down physically and emotionally lately, between the ITB issues and DS2's enlistment/impending departure.  All those things take their toll.  Even though yesterday day wasn't a big race, it was something that you were focused on.  Now that it's over and high's worn off, you have to psych yourself up for the next one.  ((((Big hugs)))), friend.  You'll get through it.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
