Absolutely no extra time to get on the computer at home and at work it's budget season which needs to be done before I go on vacation in two weeks so I'm more than a little slammed. I did read back a bit but was overwhelmed with the pages. Happy Training! LV is possible! Even if you have to do a 1:1 walk run, the after event entertainment will be worth the trip! LOL - It's possible! I'm probably gonna do the same. Run/Walk method. I don't think I'm ready to run a full 1/2 mary without walking just yet. :-) However, will the price of admission be worth it? That's up to her... Luckily, I only live about 10 minutes away...so yeah. |

John, I could NEVER do IM Texas. Never no way ever ever. Heck, if I ever (ha ha ha!!!) qualified for Kona I don't think I could do that!! BTW, had a brilliant idea today while shuttling kids around. You know how they have the Nike Women's Marathon?? Wouldn't it be cool (for us chicks) to have an all-women's Ironman???? |

Did I miss anything big in the last month? I am not so sure I will be able to read all of these pages to catch up! ![]() Lets see updates on me 1) Husband and I went to Italy and Greece for 11 days in the beginning of June and I am just now getting around to posting the pictures on the blog. 2) Had my first race of the season and missed the opportunity to post on the fun "Are you racing this weekend thread" Bummer. Did ok in the race (Better than last year) but not the improvement that I wanted to see 3) I am about this close || to hiring a coach for nutrition and training purposes. Meeting with her at the end of the month to chat about what my training should look like for the remainder of my HIM preparation. I like the BT Plan but I think I need something a bit more tailored to me. 4) I AM RACING THIS WEEKEND! I will find the fun thread just so that I can post to it. ![]() 5) Work has been hectic. With a building fire right after I returned from Italy and Freshman Orientation, I have been super hectic and no where near a computer for leisure time. So I apologize for my absence. Needless to say, nothing recently has been going as planned but I am being flexible. Miss yall. Now hopefully I can get back to normal I hope. Many thanks for those of you who posted "Inspires" for me in my absence. I appreciate them! Awesome! Good luck this weekend with your Oly, I like that distance. I am really liking the coaching, it is really nice to have someone else in control of your schedule so you don't have to worry about it. |

Rode my bike to work this morning, kind of grabbed clothes in a hurry to pack, all old stuff so I am dressed like a clown today, swimming in my clothes, I know Sam will say STFU but I really need to get out to buy new clothes... |

It's time to give the MG some details..... For those not racing, we're probably about mid-season so what goal did you hit so far and what's still left to be conquered? Me, me, me! I have a the mini musselman sprint tomorrow. If I was setting goals, I would go for 1:40 pace on the swim, 19 mph or better on the bike, 7:40 pace on the run and transitions that make me look like one of John's disciples!! All that being said, my training has been inconsistent at best the last month or so my real goal is to have fun! This is a local race that is supposed to be a great time. They make a whole weekend out of it with the micro mussel tonight (a "fun" tri with some ridiculously short distances), the mini mussle (sprint) on Saturday and the musselman half on Sunday along with a kids tri. My wife is doing the sprint tomorrow too and we are headed back up on Sunday so that Tommy, my 8 year old can do the kids tri. He is super excited! It is going to be a good weekend! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() OK... this is waaaaaaaaaaay off topic, but falls into the category of healthy, seasonal, local eating, sooooo... My turnip supply runneth over. We've had an unusually cold and wet spring and the produce from the CSA is lacking thus far in variety and abundance. (That's the blessing and the curse of a CSA -- I don't mind, really, as I LOVE eating locally grown produce.) Anyway, I'm looking for ways to use turnips that go beyond steaming and mashing. I've put the plea out on Facebook too but so far my friends just steam and mash (oh, and that's how they eat their turnips, too). I'm finding some interesting recipes on epicurious and allrecipes, but thought I'd see if anyone here has something to share. I'm sort-of wondering if I could make a "potato salad" using turnips? Boil or steam them, chill, then use them like potatoes? It's really warm here so I'm not wanting to braise or bake or anything. Any foodies have any good recipes to share?? |

I had a good race overall - I'll have my race report up in a little bit! |

Swim and bike felt good, run was terrible. Just didn't have any giddyup in the legs. Something like 34/62 in my AG which is a typical MOP finish for me. Race report later after results are posted. |

Worst congestion I have ever swam in, have a nice black eye to prove it.1st on the bike and 4th on the run, with a so-so run stomach kind of sloshy. If I would have just done 2:00 100's I would have won AG I think.Lol posting this from a store waiting for Sam to try on clothes. |
