Fun weekend coming up.....long ride, long run, cross-country meet in the middle of what should be the long ride time.  a little over this whole long training thing right now.

Wah.

Loved the yoga mat!!!  I have one still in it's original wrapper.  Yup, still on my to-do list!

Good luck to the racers and the sherpas.  Suck it up, Kim-----you owe LOTS of race support!!!  Wink

I LOVE that you are next up! Keeping the MG IM train rolling throughout the year! And I love thinking my next LONG ride will be on a jet plane to Hawaii in 3 weeks! Btw, Ragnar relay start on tv right now! One of these years! Thinking out loud, Birdy, when is that OTHER relay? How is it I am ready to run already? Coach says no way, don't even think about it! *rolls over, pulls sheets back over head*. Ah, recovery! Am I glowing through the screen yet?

Happy anniversary Suzy and Paul! Congratulations!!! Enjoy your long ride this evening!!

(Wait, did I really just say that??!! Ha ha ha!!!)

Hang in there, Linda! You are going to crush Arizona for sure!

And back to Yoga (not hot, though)... I made it back to a class yestrday and hooo boy, is  my upper body sore today! In the best of ways, of course. Every time I stray away from Yoga and then find my way back I'm reminded how wonderful it is for my body. I do little Yoga things around the house (I'm the queen of pigeon while reading, ha!), but nothing like a focused class to get your head on right (focus! breathe! tune out everything else!) and work on various body parts. My  hips in particular love love love Yoga, and my upper body appreciates the attention too!

Very cool.  My chiro has me doing 30 minutes of strength and stretch every morning and every night lol more strength training this year logged than any before and I've only been doing this for 2 months.

It's amazing how much better my workouts have been if  I can get that 30 minutes in before my days workout starts.

Holy crap it's cold outside.  I had a 7am cross practice today and it was in the 40's, had to put on arm warmers & vest.  Should have put on toe covers and tights since I was still freezing.

It was 90 the day before yesterday.

Go Dan, Tony, and Linda!! Awesome racing all around!

Just another Slacker Weekend planned here... a few soccer games, dinner out with friends, trying to sleep in (why do I wake up earlier on weekends w/o the alarm than during the week??!!), run a few miles... the usual!!

Have a great race guys!  We need some details as soon as you finish up!

Kyla, not sure what the long ride reference means, but I can assure you there won't be any action at the Shain household.  I'm SICK and we are both so tired from all the moving crap going on.  You and John will have to get some for me (and no, not together!).

Response to the Yoga Mat on Craigslist:

So I bought this yoga mat I found on Craigslist and you will not believe what happened next.  The seller had only used it once so and it only cost me $1.  So I right after I picked it up I brought it to my first Hot Yoga class in the Hollywood Hills.

10:00 AM

Entered yoga room and find a spot near the back of the room to set up. There is no one near me and I lay down to corpse pose to relax. I notice an unusual smell coming from the mat, but cannot quite make it out.

10:15AM
I feel a tap on my shoulder. I must have fallen asleep. I wake up to find two beautiful women staring at me, one blonde and one brunette. They are two of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. I lay back down thinking this is a great dream!

10:16AM

Blonde taps my again and asked if that wonderful smell is coming from me?  She tells me it smells like asparagus, cloves, tuna and taco, all her favorites. So that is what the smell from my mat is!

10:20AM

The room is quite hot and humid. Amber (the blonde) and Candi the brunette have taken up spots on either side of me and ask if I minds if they take off some of their clothes. Being a gentleman I tell them to make themselves comfortable. B oth turn out to be aspiring actresses.

10:25AM

Our instructor, a knockout redhead I think I have seen on television comes in and starts the class. Not being a very flexible guy I am a little intimidated at first, but Amber and Candi encourage me.

10:35AM

The temperature is about 95 degrees and a puddle of sweat is flowing off of my mat. I feel embarrassed but the girls do not seem to mind.

10:45AM

As the room temperature reaches 100 degrees we begin harder and harder poses. The girls seem to move from one pose to the next with no problem. Despite some pain and tightness I follow their lead hoping to impress them,

10:50 AM My efforts seem to be working as Amber seems to be really taken with me. Candi is jealous.

11:00 AM
Despite my mortification at the stream of sweat flowing off my mat due to the 110 degree temperature and 95% humidity, I am astounded to see that Candi is not the least put out by this. In fact she is LICKING it up in a scene from some 80’s music video.

11:02 AM

Not to be outmaneuvered Amber compliments me on my cowface pose and helps me get my hands to meet behind my back, all while holding the same pose herself.

11:20 AM

We have progressed to harder and harder poses. Amber and Candi seem to be fighting over me. Each has expressed their admiration for my flexibility and has encouraged me to attempt each of the ever more difficult poses.

11:25 AM

I think this is the luckiest day of my life. I wonder why the previous owner sold this magical mat? Women I would never expect to have a chance with are now literally fighting over me. Amber and Candi are writhing on the floor pulling each other’s hair and arguing over who saw me first.

11:30 AM

The girls seem to have calmed down a little. Both are cooperating in helping me attain the next pose, a variation of the peacock pose where you balance on your hand but here my legs are extending over my shoulders.

12:00 PM Despite yelling for the past 20 minutes I am alone in this sauna of a room! I am stuck in a twisted pose I cannot get out of!  The last I saw of Amber and Candi they were rifling through my wallet and taking the keys to my Porsche. I think they just went to buy me some lunch. There are rug burn type marks on my body from this stupid mat and I have lost feeling in my lower extremities. Hopefully the girls will bring some slave back with them.

1:45 PM Barney the dinosaur seems to be taunting me! I keep telling him I am not Gumby! I am beginning to think the Amber and Candi are not going to return. Maybe this mat is not so lucky. I lost all sensation in my penis an hour ago. That can’t be good!

8:10 AM (The next day) A janitor has come in and helped me out of the knot I was in. All my belongings are gone except the stupid mat. I think I need to get it out of my life and sell it on Craigslist.

 (Just my imagination!) Wink

Well I did the same this morning ...haven't been out on a mtn bike in "never years", had a trek 800 with no shocks, never again, never again, I am surprised I did not do a header into a tree.....technical trail was really tough but a lot of fun despite the bike.....
