Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() fattyfatfat - 2010-03-30 10:41 AM Is a snorkel legal? yes, under USAT. Specific races can say they won't allow them, if they want to. just to be clear, a usat race (director) can only do this with written approval from usat received prior to the race. they can't just go changing rules. edit to add and not directed at you tony... i'd like to see an example of this happening. show me one and i'll show you an rd with a lot of other things he/she needs to worry about. i'm wrong. an rd can add this snorkel rule without the written approval from usat. same for the shoe in pedals. below is paraphrased from communication i just had with a usat official. basically the RD can do what he wants as far as imposing additional rules.... Also allows individual RDs to impose differnet rules to make their race safer, fairer, etc edit.. -10 to tony for wiki reference ok so i'm beating a dead horse with you non-rule caring people. my apologies. but it turns out this may not be wrong after all. and it seems i'm not the only one wondering about this. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() George, Dino, Tony - Thanks so much for the advice - I'm taking the bike and shoes into my LBS tomorrow for a shoe/cleat/pedal fitting. I agree that the cleat is making me use my calves a lot more, and my legs are totally not used to this - it needs to be moved back is my guess. Probably need some arch supports, too. I have flat feet, unfortunately. After the fitting I will train a few more times before I make a decision. I'm already having pain with my run, don't need the bike contributing to it. Btw, I'm using the X series, Tony. I have mobility from side to side, but having the pedal in one spot in terms of back/forward mobility is messing with me a bit. Again, thanks guys. You all are the best! ![]() |

thank you canada. you make me feel better. I didn't see your note below your totals, so was just gonna call you out for trying to pull one over on us by reporting KMs for your bike. But since you outed yourself, I'll save you the public flogging. Nice month -- especially impressive run numbers! |

Was happy to see the run miles top 100. Whether or not it means squat, it's good for my psyche, which is starting to feel IM-fragile. Suzy, I hope for your sake the weather gods are incorrect and you get some sunshine for your longer ride. Totally TMI but I'm gonna go there anyway: my cheeks are still complaining about the first pair of shorts I had on for my long trainer ride... I fear I'm screwed no matter which shorts I wear for awhile, and I actually wore chamois butt'r with my jeans/undies today. Scary!! The things we do.... |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() SSMinnow - 2010-03-31 5:36 AM Who is going to have some fun racing this weekend? Give us a sneak peak into your strategy.... Do the workouts, believe in yourself, and the rest will follow. And I plan to have a whole lotta "que sera sera" on hand, cuz, well, ya just never know. (Is that one thought or strategy, or is it many? I've always had a problem with verbosity and following directions.) I guess if I really want to be bullet-proof I need to buy a vest... |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Great month for you! I have this rule that once I start a CT file I don't want to stop it so I have yet to get off in a 3 hour ride. Not sure I can do that for 4 hours....I wish there was a way to pause the CT file so you could do your stuff, come back and start where you left off.....Grrrrr. kkcbelle - 2010-03-31 7:03 PM

My heart pitter-patters when people achieve greatness in their swims. Awesome!! Good luck with the pedals/cleats. My fitter tweaks and tweaks with those. Funny, when I was in last week he wanted to know if he really fit my cleats. I told him he sure did!! He re-tweaked yet again... |

Suzy, why can't you just hit F1 and it pauses the ride? Trina, wow! nice 100 time there! John, the computer is hooked up to the CT and shows the ride while you are riding. It also saves to look at later, but all the info is on the screen, with the course and elevation, etc., current speed, av. spd, distance traveled, current watts, av. watts, hr, rpms it's all there, I LOVE IT, (when I don't have my skewer end stuck in the darn thing). |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() fattyfatfat - 2010-03-31 7:45 PM do all you guys with computrainers have them hooked up to tv's? Yes, I have mine hooked up to a pc and big honking flat screen TV. It is hands down the best technology investment I made in 2009. To really get the most out of it IMO, you have to have solid workouts developed to ride courses. Otherwise it is a really expensive trainer. I have the good fortune of having an evil coach who develops killer MRC files which you can probaly do yourself...love my CT....can't wait to see what it has done to my outdoor riding! Oh and now that I have had power, getting the PT on the GURU with the new joule interface....YEAH! |

I always have a movie on preferably a comedy or action.. nothing like laughter or a good action sequence to distract you from being a hamster.. The CT is connected to the PC.. I generally only look at the computer screen if I notice a major difference in watts required to maintain my rpms or if i'm trying to improve my spin scan.. Edited by trying1 2010-03-31 9:04 PM |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Kim--if you hit F1 and pause the ride, doesn't the "save the file" come up and then start it over without saving the file? |
![]() ![]() |
Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() mine lets me pause and doesn't restart the course but if you don't finish a course and you try to save the course it doesn't. |
