I have no Smack talk to contribute, but thought I'd share the entry from my blog yesterday and the photo (taken on 12/31/08) that started this exchange.  (Note that I have been obsessed with working my abs for a few months and take pics to keep me motivated)

"Classic proud mom moment.....last week I sent my mom my latest abs pic (my parents live in NJ and have not seen me since Oct).  She told me today "everyone is so impressed by what you have done to your body!  They can't believe it!"  I say, "um, mom, who is everybody?"  She says, "oh everyone at work and your aunts.  Of course they also think your nuts for giving up sugar, but can see the results so far."  I suddenly had the mental image of my mother walking around with her cell-phone showing everyone my abs' pic.  Thankfully my mom works at a pharmacy so that only accounts for about 8-10 people.  Ahhh....mom, classic moment "

abs

I wonder if people would believe me if I showed them that picture and said it was me.  Probably not.  I now have a new goal to work toward.  I want to be AbbieR.  You look terrific, Abbie.

Funny story Abbie!

I got another ding yesterday.  I was in the middle of another all day meeting, and all of a sudden a BIG plate of cookies and pop walked in the door.  I shouldn't have, but I gave in...

Congrats to everyone without any dings - excellent work!

I switched to all-natural peanut butter today.  It tastes different than what I'm used to, but not in a bad way.  Just in a less sweet, more like real peanuts kind of way.  I think it will take a little getting used to...right now I still expect it to be sweet.

I LOVE All-natural PB!  The last time I had the sweetened kind it did not even taste like peanuts to me!  Oh, almond is amazing as well, yum!

Any more ideas?

By the way, I just had an a-ha moment!

I love the basil-pesto flat bread pizza from Trader Joes. Normally I eat the entire thing. Well, today I cut it into 6 pieces and took 4 with me upstairs to my bed to eat, and I didn't have to finish the other two. Yay!  I need to keep trying not to "finish my plate".

Sheesh. My parents and their "starving children in Ethiopia" still sticks with me...

anyone else have this problem??

Almond butter sounds delicious, but I am horribly allergic.

I can see how regular PB wouldn't taste like peanuts after the all-natural version.  The all natural was delightfully peanutty for a change.

Homemade breakfast burritos - scrambled eggs (I usually buy the egg white containers), salsa, little cheese in a tortilla.

How quick?

I do Canadian Bacon with scrambled egg whites..takes about 4 minutes to make.

Are you eating process foods? If so whole wheat english muffins with something on it...could add egg and Canadian bacon.

This has been an absolute struggle for me so far but I am not giving in. I have been dinged more than a drivers training car but am still standing.

Missed weigh in I think the other day but was down a bit to 222.6 so a little positive at least

Still weigh 188, no recent dings, I feel some good things ahead for all of us. I think in the next couple of weeks I'll have some good weight loss. My running is coming along very well, I just need to get up enough nerve to hit the pool. Keep up the great work, Abbie your abs are smokin!

All the time.  Growing up, my parents wouldn't let us leave the table until everything on our plates was gone.  It's ingrained in me, but I am trying to teach myself that it is okay to not eat all of the food and that the world is not going to end if I throw away any food.

I had visible abs about 7 years ago.  I'm hoping 2009 will be the year that I see my abs again.

Abbie's look awesome!

I happened upon Oprah when Dr. Oz was on and his list of foods to avoid to live healthier are the following:

HFCS-high fructose corn syrup
Sugar
'Enriched'-foods with this label as it means they took out nutrients and then tried to add some back
Trans fat
Saturated Fat

Just as I suspected... I am out of the challenge. The 8 day vacation to Florida did me in..

Though, I am back on this morning. But with probably 20+ "x's", I am officially done

A couple of my quick breakfast options are oatmeal with fruit and protein powder or a multigrain bagel (i do half) with natural peanut butter and a little honey. I also like homemade smoothies too. I usually use a little milk, water, protein powder, and frozen fruit of your choice.

I do early morning workouts so my breakfast is always following a workout too.

thank you!  anymore things I can bring with me? I'm up and out the door in 30 min, I'd rather not cook at home in the morning....those kinds of things will get me off my bagel and cream cheese.

Has anybody started thinking about the changes they will make on March 1?  I sure don't want to give up what I have achieved here, but I really want Diet Coke and ice cream (not at the same time necessarily).  I think I will go back to Diet Coke - I had already cut back on that and was not even having one every day at the start of the challenge (from a one-time six-pack a day habit).

The ice cream is trickier because that does have calories, unlike the Diet Coke.  I am kinda thinking that I will get to have ice cream on the days that I go running or walking in the evening as an after-workout treat.  The ice cream will either be strict portion control Dreyers Slow Churned or the Weight Watchers brand which is already portion controlled.

Not sure about the rest of the sugar universe.  I don't want to go back to just mindlessly, indiscriminately eating it, but I am not good at having "just a little."  I am much better at having none or having all.  I need parameters.

What about you?

I buy a carton of egg-whites and some frozen veggies.....throw it in the microwave for an instant omlette!

THANK YOU everyone for the abs comments, it really lifted my mood this morning!  And of course helps keep me motivated.

I haven't thought about what I will do after the challenge.  I have been so focused on making it through the challenge for right now.

I think I'm in the same boat as you - I miss diet pepsi and ice cream.  But, I am NOT good at having a little sugar.  I easily sit down and eat an entire bag of candy.  I don't really want to go back to that.

I'm in the same boat, All or Nothing seems to suit me well.  I LOVE candy, but over the past few weeks, I dont miss it.  I know if I go back to it, I will start to crave it again.  As my IM training picks up I'll start having more sugar in my diet from Gu and other assorted sports nutrition stuff...ugg (last year sports nutrition products became new food group for me).  For now, my plan is to stick to the Sugar-free challenge even after it ends and adjust accordingly depending on my training.
