Just wondering whether I'd be the only one who did not spring for the extra $30-a-pop for family to go. Do you go? Do you bring your family? The first year I did an Ironman (Lake Placid) I went to the dinner and the "required meeting" afterwards. It turned out that yes, the food was mundane at best, and the information given at the meeting wasn't anything that was not already covered in the athlete guide. So the following two years I didn't bother with the dinner or the meeting. There were no repercussions. I'm not sure how they can prove you attended or not. |

It's outside in a park, no one knows if you go or not. Personally, I found it all rather cool, and part of the experience. I am sure the food was not that great, but it wasn't about that for me. It was also cool to see BTers win the youngest participant (gymgirlx) and most weight lost (devouhay) If it's your first, I say go. Just my .02 Edited by ChrisM 2010-11-08 6:39 PM |

Member 89 | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona : Official Thread I just printed out the athlete guide and noticed that the last available time for athlete check in is Friday at 4:00. WTF? My flight doesn't land until 11:30. If I have any delays or transportation issues, that could get interesting. Why wouldn't you have any available check in times late Friday or even early Saturday? |

As the results are made available when you cross the various timing mats on the course it will send those results automatically to the contacts you have setup. |

Why wouldn't you have any available check in times late Friday or even early Saturday? The airport is about 5min from Transition, you could walk there and still make it. |

Veteran 147 TEXAS | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona : Official Thread First loop can be crowded, 2nd and 3rd loop it spreads out pretty well. When I did the race last time there was a lot of "TRI-Debris" (CO2 cartridges and bottles) on the roads especially Beeline the last 2 laps so be aware. |

Folsom, CA (Sacramento Area) | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona : Official Thread It's official !!!! I got my first dream where I got out of the water and then got distracted and walked around for a while. When I realized I should be on my bike, I could not find it and everybody was out of the water already. After I found my bike, I did not know the route to follow and nobody could tell me where to go. I was getting very frustated because i could not get started on the bike.........then I woke up. 9 more days ..... |

Elite 2645 Phoenix, AZ | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona : Official Thread It was windy as HELL this morning. Here's what I've seen every day for a week: Northerly wind ~10 mph until 11 am or so. Then it comes around to a Southerly wind, which are a little lighter. It's surprisingly consistent, so I'm expecting that on race day. The lake temps are dropping FAST. From www.ironboomer.com I see that the water temp is dropping 1°F every day! It was 71°F on Sat and today it's 66. |

Now you know why I moved here from central MA after retirement! The weather here is fabulous, I think it's rained 5 times in the last 6 months. |
