Tom - thanks for fixing the spreadsheet!

How's everyone doing this Monday?  Good weekends all around?

I had a surprisingly good weekend, at least in terms of weight loss, especially since I went on an absolute food bender on Friday (think:  bakery goods, italian sausage sandwich, fries, milkshake... and NO training).

No problemo (I work work with xcel quite a bit).

The weekend was ok, we have been having prospective graduate student social weekends the last 2 weekends (students come in and get to meet the department's students and faculty during formal meetings and then two parties [one with grad students, one with everyone]).  I did well this weekend by staying away from the free beer/wine and only one piece of pizza.  I had one glass of wine at the potluck and stayed away from anything fried or sweet (ok, one small cookie).

We did buy "healthy ice cream" at the grocery store (double/slow-churned lowfat/cal) during the last P90X grocery run.  Could have been worse.

We must be doing well as I am slowly losing weight (mostly changing fat to muscle), and my wife is changing weight and body composition at a healthy rate.

Happy V-day all.

That is great you are doing that together! Good job.

Thanks!  I realized a long time ago that I can only control my own fitness.  If other people want to join me, then I'll support and encourage them, but it is up to them to initiate their own commitment and changes.  I'm very proud of her progress and motivation for herself.  She is doing it for herself and I know that she'll continue to do well.  She also does a good job of encouraging me to get off my own butt ("maybe you would feel better if you went for a run" --> True, I did... and then I did).  I makes a huge difference for me to have someone (person or dog) to hold me accountable (that is where this challenge is helpful).

sort of excited about weigh-in tomorrow.  I'm expecting my weight to be about the same, but I think my fat% will go down (hopefully, I don't jinx myself).  All this core work in P90X is really making a difference (well, the exercises are getting easier to do and when I put my hands on my hips, I feel muscle under there).  Crossing my fingers for everyone else too (don't forget to enter your data on the spreadsheet....).

A bit of a step backward this week -- gained a half a pound.  This kind of seems to be how my body works, though.  I plateau at a weight (plus or minus a pound), then I drop about 3 pounds, and then I fluctuate between the new low plus about 2 pounds for a week or two before the new low sort of becomes my new normal.

So - not too worried about this.  Going to just continue doing what I'm doing.

Well, at least I am the same weight as I was last Friday.  I had been above or right at 200 all week, but for some reason I seem to weigh the least on Fridays.  BF% was down though!  A whopping 1/4 of a percent to 16.24 (from 16.53 last week).  Slower results this week, but I feel great!  So regardless of the point in my fluctuating body comp that I caught this morning for measurements, I am feeling the difference.  I'll just focus on that for the near term (until next week..... I'll get you body fat!  I know where you sleep!).  I served my body fat the eviction notice about a month ago, I just have to be understanding because it is a slow mover and I am not giving it anywhere else to go.

Only ~4 people with info in the spreadsheet this month, so I put the info here in case it is hard to find.

I saw the Lion King years ago in San Fransico (actually was dragged to it by my wife) and ended up loving it. Very cool.

Been finally making some traction this month. Was hoping to get sub 200 by Mar. 1 but a week sick, and 4 days of a mysterious shoulder injury put me a bit behind.

Hi, guys! I'm still around. So, I'm inching back down again ever so slowly. The training is paying off with a firmer figure. A lot less fluff, and more muscle, yay!

Also, KENB!! I accidentally changed the date on your last weigh in day. I sorry!

I learned yesterday why I always weigh myself first thing in the morning (after a bathroom trip... saved me 2 pounds the other day).  I weighed 5 more pounds before bed yesterday than I did first thing that morning.  Eek.  That is helpful to know for triathlons when I am deciding whether to enter as a clydesdale or not (normal mild mannered triathlete in the morning, clydesdale at night).

Heh.  Totally true.  I avoid the scale like the plague anytime after I've eaten something for the day!

Friday weigh in:

Back up to 200.5.  But, my %BF is down over 1% from 16.24 to 15.08 (more than a 5% change since  Jan 14th; 6weeks).

Although this puts me at a net weight change of -2.7lbs since starting P90X, it represents -11.68 lbs of fat and +9.68 lbs of muscle. I can definitely feel the difference, even if the scale isn't budging that much.  Best of luck to everyone else!

Great job. that is an awesome change in body fat/ muscle. Was the weight BBR or ABR (before bath room/ after bath room)?

I was on vacation on Friday and totally forgot to check in here, but I'm almost glad about it... on Friday I was still recovering from an over-the-top Culver's binge.  But - a weekend of being good has brought everything back into line.

So - I'm down about 1.5 pounds!  I'll take it.  And I did my monthly measurements on Saturday (still bloated/yucky from Culvers) and lost about 2.5 total inches.  I suspect that if I were to do measurements today that it'd be even a little better.

This week will be a bit of a free-fall, though -- my birthday is coming up and a few of my friends are whisking me away Wednesday afternoon for an evening/overnight surprise adventure.  I assume there will be lots of food/cake/alcohol involved (at least, there better be!) and I'm probably not going to worry at all about what I'm taking in.  My birthday stuff will be over by Sunday (going out Saturday night, I think and then dinner at my Mom's on Sunday) and then it's back into good-eating mode.

Happy B-day!  An "evening/overnight surprise adventure" with a bunch of "food/cake/alcohol" sounds like a blast.  You have been doing a great job so far and deserve a weekend of fun.  Enjoy it!

Does anyone mind if I "update" the worksheet to include only people that are currently entering data (i.e., delete people that haven't entered anything in since Nov/Dec)?  Then I could post on Monday's with how we are doing (i.e., our combined weight loss since the beginning of the challenge, the amount of combined lbs we have left, and the average progress that we have made [as a percent of goal]).

Alternatively, if there is an objection to deleting the not-up-to-date participants (which I could see as a legitimate concern), I could try to sort the worksheet by last update and have the totals reflect only those participants that have entered data within the last month (I could color-code the cells of people that are at least within a month of the current date so you know what is being used to count towards our composite progress).

I was just thinking that because this is an individual and group challenge, it would be nice to have a weekly progress report of sorts for the group (we each provide our individual progress already).  Thoughts?
