Maybe the $35 to ride 10 miles? Dunno. But I had so much fun last time. But that was with a bunch of womens. But this one has a good share of women signed up. but...

Cool! I just got Strava a few days ago, so this weekend will be my first ride with it   I'll have to tell DH about that site...he's all about analyzing his numbers. Annnnnnd, I'll probably get sucked into it too. LOL

Oh yay! Please share your Strava name so we can stalk track  and support you there too! We've got quite a group on there.

Busy couple of days:

Took kids to zoo at 7am on Wednesday to TRY to beat the heat...didn't quite do that since we stayed til after noon, and it was 104*. Luckily, there are splash and waterplay areas! Kids loved the Squirrel Monkey open enclosure (oxymoron?) where they could get 2-3 feet away. Soooo cute!

Yesterday was doc appt. We thought baby girl had two shots on the agenda, but ended up getting 5!!! I think she shed one tear for each poke. Taylor told her, "You were a brave, brave, brave girl!" Laughing

I still remember when I was a kid and all of my siblings and I (6 total) had to go to the pediatrician where we all got shots. Everything was fine until the nurse got to my youngest brother, who was probably about 4; he witnessed the rest of us getting our shots and decided he was having none of that, so when the nurse came in for the kill shot, he kicked her.  A few times.  SHe and my mother were not amused, the rest of us thought it was great.  He was not a brave boy

No joke!!! We've started looking at 140.6s for DH and it makes me choke a little. And with both of us doing races...I think I'll aspire to IM distance when the kids are grown and out of the house. lol

LOL I can't imagine wrangling 6 into the dentist or doc. THAT'S brave! DH and I used to joke about 7...2 is good.

I don't blame him for kicking. I HATE HATE HATE needles, but both of my kids can watch themselves getting poked while I look away Embarassed

Funny thing is, my hesitation isn't caused by 140.6, it's caused by $675..

Yowza!

Yeah, I hadn't really thought about 140.6 until Boulder was announced. It IS the inaugural, which is pretty cool. But if you want WTC, you pay for WTC. The closest Rev3 is Casper-frickin-Wyoming no thanks. HITS is in Grand Junction but it definitely is nowhere near WTC on the "race experience" even at the cheaper price.

Maybe the $35 to ride 10 miles? Dunno. But I had so much fun last time. But that was with a bunch of womens. But this one has a good share of women signed up. but...

I know how you feel I signed up our team for a November HIM a few weeks ago, my share was $130 DH nearly fell off his chair, and then when I told him I was only doing the swim leg and should be done in less than 45 minutes he nearly died.

Then I reminded him that one race tyre costs him $300+ and often only last 1 race (maybe 10-15minutes). It can be a good thing sometimes to have a partner that has a hobbie that is even more expensive than triathlons (yes they do exist).

Awww, look at all her little Band-Aids...dear little brave soul!

Her face is so precious!  Sweet little peanut.

Gasp!

The cost of doing an IM really gives me pause.  When you think about entry, travel, and extra time/gear (that many more miles? that many more tires, tubes, running shoes, etc) it can really add up.  When I started down this path a year ago I was doing it with the idea of working up to an IM to check it off my bucket list.  Now I love training and doing tris. but I'm not sure I'll ever do an IM :)

Much props to all of you who do and take on that commitment.  It is really impressive.

Does the altitude seem scary at all?

Tahoe looks like it would be GORGEOUS, but I don't know how I'd prepare adequately for the altitude.

An interesting swim last night - did a Macca workout called Waves - only made it once through coz it was hailing at the outdoor pool and windy, couldn't see through the steam from the pool and the hail hurt!  The aim is to get to 3x the main set.  Macca, Crowie and co all swim at the same pool in Sydney and do this set every week.

But here's the set.

600m warm up (I did 400m)

3x100m - freestyle a little above race pace with 20 secs rest

4x75m - freestyle with paddles - a little bit faster than the first set.  25sec rest

8x50m - freestyle with fins - go as hard as you can - 30secs rest

600m cool down (cut to 400m)

First time I'd used paddles - felt like Wolverine.
