dead doesn't sound half bad right now...  well i guess it wouldn't be good..  but it can't be much worse then the handful of rejection emails and letters that i got again today in the job search....

I had a real bad day on Monday. Depression city: Didn't get dressed or leave the house. Tuesday I decided "F this" and went to an unrelated meeting, then for a long ride. Ate lunch, called my mom. About 2:00, I finally checked email. There in the inbox was an unsolicited "I'd like your resume" from a recruiter. 30 minutes later, I'm phone interviewing with the CEO. They're scheduling a face-to-face interview for next week.

It's tough. Especially since you put out the "Hi, I'm here and like you" query and you get either rejection or no response.

Chin up girl! You've got a real full plate of issues lately, don't you?

Nice mud run pics, WIG. I had to go in there and clean the place up though....

You're just jealous of my rock-hard body

Why are you still clean and Meh has mud all over her naughty bits? Hmm....

Dude, MEH is the clean one. I'm the dirty one (lighter pink shorts and pink sunglasses) MEH is the taller one, who is in better shape MEH is taller, so she was able to leap through the mud better. I got stuck or didn't know that a big hole in the ground was coming, since the water was all cloudy.

Wow...you two ARE twins!

Congrats on landing a great interview!

Job-wise it's been a rough two years. I specalize in a specific area of Construction Cost Accounting and Capital Spending/Planning. So the last two years have been rough from the stand point that projects/contracts get cancelled, work can be feast or famine. BUT I still hold a ton of skills that are applicable to general staff finance and accounting. Anyway, when our project ended abruptly in Feb and I was laid off that was when the lightbulb went on in my head about how ALONE I have been in fighting to provide a good life for my family. My husband retired from the military in 2001 and has not done anything job/career wise since then and STILL expresses little interest in anything of the sort. I look back at how my life has been the last 8 years and the life path that friends/family members have gone during the same time frame. Bottom line I've been walking uphill on a knife's edge with no backing, safety net or contribution from my spouse. So obviously THAT situation is not going to change. I did a lot of soul searching at the time and realized I needed a major life change and the start of the change would be getting out of a relationship that has held me back from a lot of progress in my life. There is no quick and easy way to be done/out, that will take awhile. But it's going to be the first steps into rebuilding a happier life for myself.

TMI for TAN???

I don't think so.

I'm sorry that you're going through all this, but I hope it puts you in a happier place in the long run.

WOW! Nice 1 paragraph summary! Believe it or not, to me it sounds like you've got it together and just need to start executing on the ideas. Things will turn around quickly.

As for emplyment, those sound like very transportable skills. Construction and capital spending is way down right now, but startups will need ROI projections for business plans. Tons of thinktanks need these rolled out for clients. You'll be fine. Keep scratching and you'll find a nugget soon.

Hehe, no I fell a couple of times directly in the mud. A lot of the "mud" crossing was water with mud underneath. But there were spots where it was just mud. I fell in one or two of those. MEH did not. But yes, it does look as though I shat myself.
