tricupcake - 2013-02-26 9:05 PM I wish I could be one of those people that logs food religiously. I'm like you momma. I'm good for a couple of days and then I forget. And I eventually give up. I've got My Fitness Pal set up but have only ever logged one or two days. Since everyone is jumping on the bandwagon I guess I will, too.

It takes a while, the longer you do it, the easier it gets. I am so in the habit that I have a note pad that I write on when I am away from my computer (no phone app) and log them later, sometimes days later. I started because I wanted to see my macro and micro nutrients to make sure I was getting enough. Caloriecount does a good job on that, it tracks 20 or so nutrients.

As soon as I sit down at my computer at work I open the myfitnesspal page and just leave it open while I work on other things. When I eat anything I log it immediately or else I will forget. I also have the phone app but I only use that on the weekends.

You can set your self-reminders on a google calendar as well to remind you 2-3 times a day to log  your food. I am not saying I do that but it can be done

Among the many other benefits of logging, I think I am saving a ton of money!  I never want to pick up lunch or dinner on the way home, cause it would be too hard to figure out how to log a bought meal.  So instead I stick with the simple stuff I make at home.  Yeay for lazy!  And no more expensive packaged snacks, a trip to Costco on the weekend for a boatload of fruits and veggies and I'm set.  Looking forward to our little local farmers market starting up this spring too, in the past all I ever bought there was kettle corn. Sealed

I'm thinking of trying to figure out how much $ I'm saving here, and start a new bike fund. Cool  Figure that will add to the incentive to keep up the logging too.

So March is just about here, any new mini-goals?  I'm going to stick with what I've got going, keep logging everything I eat every day, and try to keep around 1500 cals/day.

Lots of good things happening for everyone this week!

x53 on the logging. When you make it a habit, it isn't a chore. It is part of your day. I use www.sparkpeople.com for logging. Very easy to use online and there is also an app. FREE. I have tried several others. I like that I can create a grouping of foods to make logging favorite meals a 1-click instead of search and select each individual food. Really speeds up logging my "usuals" like lunch salads and omelets.

Scott - good intentions and then life happens. I want to get to the point where I can just turn down the pizza etc. Just say "that's not my food".

Short term goal is local 5k April 27. Actually not so near. Big goal is being in shape to offically start my training program April 1.

The scale I use has disappeared, so I have no idea where my weight is.  May have to spring for one for the house.  I'm sure I'm sitting at 230 or slightly under, though.  No biggie... my pants are still growing, so all is well.

I've been on a small hiatus.  Didn't run Sunday due to duty.  Didn't run Monday due to being in pain.  Didn't run Tuesday due to torrential down pours.  Didn't run today due to duty.  Tomorrow and Friday are looking to be 7 mile days, with duty Saturday and a 10+ miler on Sunday.

I'm thinking about throttleing back on mileage in an attempt to improve my ability to hold a sub 9 minute pace for an entire 10K.  I really need to get to doing a sub 8 minute pace, but I've gotta take small steps toward being better than yesterday.

I log my activity on sparkpeople. It tracks my running miles, too. Then I have Garmin Connect data to stare at as well. So I don't log here. I may go with Training Peaks. I think I read that BT can import? I don't want to make a daily job out of updating my workout logs to multiple places. Anyone have a suggestion for the most efficient way to go?

Up  1 lb for the month to 215.4  - considering I saw over 220 for a while during the month, I will take the Pyrrhic victory.

Hopefully March is better.

I'm hopping on the scale tomorrow...but today was not a good eating day for me. I took a rest day from training - and somehow my body decided that meant it was a free eat day too. Ooops.

I bought a new scale for the home tonight.  It's a Homedics that measures percentage of body fat, lean muscle mass and weight.  I'm sure it isn't as accurate as calipers or dunk tank measurements.....but it will be a consistent reading.

Today's weight in - 183.6.  Next stop, 180.  End goal = 170.

Travelling today so no chance of vendor pizza messing up this Friday, unlike last.  Will be away all weekend so it could go either way for eating habits this weekend.

204!

Down two from last week.  I am pumped.  I've kind of upped my training over the past few weeks with the weather warming up.  Additionally I haven't had cause to completely wreck my diet so even though I have been over a few days here and there, I've been under more often.  Great results.  I hope I can continue to repeat them.

At the beginning of the week I was up to 230 due to letting my nutrition spiral out of control. I'm at 225.2 today.  I haven't done much in the way of training, but my nutrition is back on track finally.

Wow, lots of people down!  CONGRATS!

I'm still avoiding the scale...hate the thought of seeing a bigger number than 2 months ago when I started all of this.  Frustration does not begin to describe how I'm feeling.

Ended the month at 158.6 - (after hitting 157.8 as a low for the month) down from 161.8. Yeah!

Last night had a serious carb/sugar bender and today had a rough lunch (banquet at work). Need to toss off these two days and get back to business.

Goal for March = sub-155.

Maybe you need to buy one of those new scales like Judi just got?  Seems to be working for her. Sealed  Seriously though, just move forward.  Forget what was 2 months ago, today is here now.  My wife's favorite saying, that I've sort of adopted lately, is "the best time to plant a tree was 30 years ago.  The second best time is now."  ok sorry, I don't mean to sound all preachy.  Just know you can do it, cause you can!  And did.  And are.

I have been using a scale at my gym but they are so overused and keep getting moved around so I question their accuracy.  I would not really own a scale except my husband is actually trying to lose wieght since he was diagnosed with diabetes a few weeks ago.

NEVER sweat your weight.  Your waist is going in the right direction; that's for more beneficial.

X2...my husband is always telling me to judge how I look in my skinny jeans or how I fit in my favorite dress, and not just focus on the number, but I hear ya, sometimes you like the objective number on the scale. Still, I'd be THRILLED to have a smaller waist, good for you!

Lots of success here, congrats everyone.

Sadly, after the stress of seeing family and the trip for my grandma's funeral, all the family dinners and lunches and eating on the road...then coming home and getting a chest cold and not working out in 7 days....eek. It all added up. Gained a pound and weighed in at 126 lbs today.

I'm trying not to bum about it and doing ok. I know I had a bad week, plus I've been eating salty things and soups because it makes my throat feel better. I should probably be gargling with hot salt water instead of downing salty soups hahahaha. On the tail end of things, should be good to start exercising in another day or two. (Still in the chest, not above the neck.)

Good work everyone!!
