I guess it my have to be solo stuff cuz the wife works late and sleeps till noon, so we only have about 1pm to 8pm to do anything together.

We say The Butler last night.  Wife was nagging and nagging every day for a week to see it.  It's ok, a little emotional I guess.  No edge of your seat kind of stuff.  Just a long (but interesting) slow moving story.

Seeing all the people that played the presidents was kind of fun.  Pretty big names.  The guy who played Eisenhower is a chuckle and the guy who played Reagan was a surprise but also made me laugh.  They all did a pretty good job though.

Going to Mattoon to jockstrap Monica for the Great Illini Half Iron Distance Triathlon Race (copyright patent pending legal mumbo jumbo). Then off to Indianapolis for dinner and watch Nebraska play and then a couple drinks maybe and then heading back on Sunday.

St. Elmo's followed by the Slippery Noodle. Great night out in Indy. Look for a hole in the wall called Joe's stew if you want authentic dive at food.

Later today is a 4,000 yd swim, Saturday is a 100 mile ride then Razorback football, Sunday is a rest and Monday will be a 15 mile run, then taper time for my 140.6!!!!

Psh - I can't believe you're even training for this thing!  I mean, it's not like it's a REAL 140.6 or anything.

No, but the world's best shrimp cocktail, a 30 day dry aged steak, followed by a great blues bar is likely better than televised colleges football....

If it bit you yesterday and you're reacting to it today- you probably don't have to worry. If you have any afterbite stuff you maybe want to put that on the bite area. Otherwise you could probably take an anti histimine or some benadryl if you have some and avoid any heavy activity until the symptems subside.

running an hour this afternoon doesn't count as heavy activity, right?  i took a claritin this morning, it's all i had in the house.  it itched yesterday but nothing else.

Hmmm I'd say running counts. But see how you feel before. If the other allergy symptoms have gone down and it doesn't itch its probably ok. Depending on the dosage claritin isn't that strong. But if thats all you got then thats all you got. I have a lot of allergy issues and always try to keep benadryl or big dose Telfast nearby.

Morning TAN.

Back from Iowa.  That was a LOOONG drive.   If anyone ever needs to try Chinese Pizza, head to Fong's in Des Moines.  The Crab Rangoon pizza on thin crust is incredible.  The Thai Chicken on hand tossed wheat crust is pretty freaking fantastic, too!

I had a crappy race, but it was a really good workout.  The water was HOT... like 86F. If everyone could have synchronized farted, it would have gone into Guinness as the World's Largest Spa.

Yes, it was the Hy-Vee 5150 he was talking about and Fong's is in the downtown area of Des Moines, but we usually end up at El Bait Shop!!!  120 beers on tap and 150 different in bottles.

Training our bodies to work efficiently in Zone 2 will help us keep our HR and pace even throughout an Ironman. This theory would hold true for the bike and run portion of an Ironman race.
