Nice avatar, Ms. Podium!!!sdalessio - 2010-07-25 4:29 PM Hi gang - back from Hagerstown, just finished eating a huge piece of leftover birthday day and feeling a little queasy. Why does doing stuff like that seem like a good idea at the time. UGH!!! Anyway - met Linda. That was definitely the best part of the day. She was super nice and part of a kick butt tri club in Frederick! And she came home w/ a little hardware herself. We hope to meet up again in 2 weeks at Ft. Richie. Although I did somehow manage to win my AG which is very nice and I don't want to sound ungrateful but I was quite a bit slower than I wanted and thought I could do. The heat was horrible. I have no idea how Linda managed going so late in the morning. I did not have a good run and really had to push myself to keep going. I was also cramping (my quads) which has only happened to me in a marathon. So not sure what was up with that. I was pretty hydrated and took a electrolyte pill before the race. RR will be up soon. Hope everyone had a good weekend. Still working on the race report but I did add a new avatar. My friend got some good pics from the race. I will try to get to my RR soon but right now the house looks like a bomb went off b/t the birthday party, race and travelling. I'm afraid some gov't agency will come by and comdemn it. ![]() Ok, I cannot see the new avatar..what do I have to do again...something about being cached?!?!?!? |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() jvanis - 2010-07-27 6:26 AM Life has gotten crazy here, and its not Wednesday yet, but I am anxious for Suzy's post! Did a group ride on Saturday that turned out to be quite eventful. About mile 40 I was about 3 back from the front and managed to hit a rock the size of a tennis ball, kicked it up and it hit my toe and then the frame. Immediately I dropped back in the group due to a sharp pain in my big toe. When the group stopped, I took a look and noticed the rock had seriously gouged the front of my bike shoe (no damage to the bike thankfully) but left me with a bruised toenail and lightly jammed big toe! The jammed part is mostly better, but still black and blue under the nail. I was in shock how much it stung. About mile 45-48 of the ride, I got dropped something fierce. The group decided that 26 MPH was a good pace, and my legs just would not push the numbers, so I had a nice 15 mile solo ride home! The good news of the ride is I found some good hills (early in the ride) to start biking more that do not offer much time for recovery, something I need to work on greatly. Had Friday off and swapped out my aero bars to some PD T2+ and they are working out well (outside of one mechanical malfunction last night) I didn't think too much when I replaced the FD cable, and put it on the left side of the screw, which under tension would loosen the bolt, luckily I had an allen wrench in my flat kit and tightened it back up, better on a training ride than during a race. After my Race Report from the Lifetime Fitness Tri in Minneapolis, I got contacted by someone from LTF, a day later and a dozen emails back and forth, I will be heading to Chicago at the end of August to race the Chicago Tri as well as getting to attend the pro/sponsor pre-race party. I am quite excited for this opportunity. It sounds like it is a very large race, so I am looking forward to that as well as spending a little time in Chicago with the Mrs. How/why? Was it because of your results (which were awesome!)? Because of your race report? Someone you know? Is LTF paying for you to go to this race? Anyway you cut it that will I was just curious how it all came about. ***MORE IMPORTANTLY*** I am glad the bike is ok. The toenail-- It'll grow back, and having a bruised toe makes you look tough. Adds a lot of character ![]() |

Adds a lot of character ![]() I was guessing from reading his RR on his Blog, it's kind of crazy how much companies are paying attention to what people write online. Have heard stories about people Tweeting complaining about cable service, or something simliar then getting a call/e-mail from that company within a few hours and getting things fixed. |

I mean why not just rip on my stupidity of pulling off my wetsuit in Lake Michigan and getting it stuck, having to hop my way to the beach while people chant "you can do it"....three minutes later totally covered in sand I run out of transition? That at least still has legs.... |

Adds a lot of character ![]() The toe is good enough, I rode on it last night and going to run tonight without much pain, very glad the bike is ok! I posted the RR and then linked on Twitter, I am assuming they saw through Twitter, read the RR, and asked to publish the RR link on their facebook and race pages, based on the experience I had mostly around the Expo and opportunities to talk with the Pro's. It is one thing about this sport that I find amazing, the pros are down to earth and accessible, as opposed to the NBA etc. The conversation went something like asking for permission to link to the RR, then asking if I was doing Chicago and if so that they could get me into the pro/sponsor part, fired back that I had not planned on it. I said I would love to take them up on the offer if they would be willing to get me an entry to hedge some of the cost and the rest is history. I used to work on cars and had a car that I would show nearly every weekend, I had multiple big name sponsors by building relationships. It is amazing in working with companies how they are willing to work with people in all capacities. It is a bit harder to get the super large companies, but there are a lot of options out there. |

It says from aero tuck, to aero tuck with tuning, so probably already a good position to begin with and made tweaks to save 56 seconds. Aerobars is the same, sitting up on top of the hoods vs. in the drops vs a bike with aerobars, that would be more useful. 30 seconds with shoe covers seems really like a lot doesn't it? |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Another thing to add, I have mentioned before the trip I am taking to Africa with our church. During the discussion process, something came up about baseball caps being a highly sought after item. One of the places we visit is a village of outcast women and children with HIV who cannot produce the food they need, so they are forced to buy it, in order to make money they often work at markets selling various things so they have donated these caps before and the value to them is many times over what the cost is here. I reached out to a few places and was able to get an amazing donation of hats from a company who does custom orders (based on some order rejects or items that may be slightly out of spec for retail sales that may otherwise be destroyed) The biggest thing I have found, it never hurts to ask! |

Very uncomfortable and its not that hot here today. 27C or 80F. I think that most of it is from the great weekend I had. Too little sleep, too much food and maybe a couple of extra beers all coming out now. The good thing is that I didn't get lost anywhere. Now off to the pool to cool down some more. Later gang. We went out to banff today. Watched the tourists. Lady comes up to me at a light from the vehicle behind me, says that a bunch of liquid just started pouring from our vehicle. we just bought it last week. I pop the hood. green coolant everywhere!! Let it cool down, and drive it down to a shop. We pop the hood, and I can see a hose has popped off. Was worried it going to be a $$$, but turned out to be $25 for coolant, and a wash of the engine. |

Someday I'll have a pic that good of myself which I will use. Tony don't take this the wrong way but you're wife is smokin. You should have her pic up for your avatar and not the cheerleaders.
