No grains - if you're desperate some rice on occasion.  No potatoes. I haven't had bread, pasta, pizza, candy, potato or potato chips etc or sugar or chocolate in 9 weeks and I feel great.

Jo, do you remember the issues with the rice? The processed ones I at least understand more, but wasn't sure why the rice comes up for some.

. The problem is we have become so insulin resistant with our over consumption of processed grains that now any carb can give us a sugar spike. So if you occasionally want rice be sure to have it with fat like cheese or cream to cut the spike effect

Or lower GI (like brown rice instead of white)

In the past, I had this exact position with a competitor of this company.  I did VERY well for myself both years that I worked for them.

I am excited to get back into this line of work.  It is also a virtual position, only requiring me to go to the office once per week for a sales meeting.

I start 8/12.

YEEEE HAW!

Originally posted by ponderingfox I swam 3600m tonight!  That's the furthest I've swum (swam?) by 400m.  We did 1800m before we hit our main set of a T-30 (swim for 30 min).  I made it 1550m in the 30 min.  And honestly, I felt good the whole time, which really surprised me.  I found the zone where distance doesn't matter, and tried to stay in it.

WOOHOO for training PR!

That zone, and learning to access it, means there's no limit to how far you can go.

(S)witch, real food for me equals either Honey, which I carry in a tube or Fig Newtons. Bento box to carry either when I train, but I may experiment with the single pocket in my tri suit (which came in last night) to see if it'll work better. I may try Twizzlers during an upcoming Saturday group ride, just for a change of pace. I have done Gummy Bears and Swedish fish on those rides, but I'm not sure how "Real" they are

I also love Hammer Gels, but they are faker then Pamela Anderson.

Ooooh, slammed Hammer Gels and a Canadian in one fell swoop!  Ouch!  Hammer seems to be the product my body will tolerate...apparently they are a slower digesting carb (maybe because they are fake??)

I was curious so I looked this up.  I've been using Hammer because that's what's on course at B2B and I plan to live off the course for the run.  Left to my own devices, I generally prefer the Gu flavors and smaller packaging size but I do like the Apple Cinnamon Hammer when it's hot out.

Hammer Gel = Maltodextrin, water, depends on flavor

Gu Gel = Maltodextrin, water, fructose

Powerbar gel = Dual Source Energy Blend (maltodextrin, fructose), water

Honey stinger = tapioca syrup, honey, water

Breakdown of sugar composition typical to honey (from wikipedia)

Fructose: 38.2%
Glucose: 31.3%
Maltose: 7.1%
Sucrose: 1.3%
Water: 17.2%

Maltodextrin is sweet, but many people find it not as sweet / doesn't have that icky sticky sweetness of the simple sugars.

I'm a bone head.  Is this the composition of maltodextrin?  And it's like honey?  Just want to make sure I understand the post.

I haven't had maltodextrin (that I know of).  It's not sweet?

Kind of a disappointing day here today.

We took our two girls to the vet to have ultrasounds today. Unfortunately it looks like no puppies for us this year

I hope so!  If I don't die on the swim.  Probably should have done more of that.  I don't know why I'm so anxious.  I think it's the tri tomorrow, but mostly my work situation.

Remember how I was considering NOT doing this race because of the race organization?  Yeah, I should have stuck with my not doing the race.  Went to packet pickup.  My registration was missing.  Fortunately, I could pull up confirmation on my phone, so I got a number.  But, I don't get a shirt or anything else that I should because I "didn't sign up in time and they might not have enough."  I can check in the morning.  Oh, and they didn't give me the swim cap I'm supposed to wear either.

TOTAL BS!

If I don't get a shirt, they are refunding me and I'm making complaints here.  I'm so tired of them.  I don't even want to do the race any more.

The only funny thing about the registration screw up is that I'm #420.

And apparently no one got swim caps - we might get them tomorrow.  I assume the RD didn't order them in time.

Jen I hope that you enjoy your race even if it is poorly organised and that the swim goes well for you.
