Hey team! I got a swim in this afternoon and hope to do some PT stuff while I watch Biggest Loser tonight.  I am on track for my running goals but I don't have much wiggle room left.  I need to stick with the plan.  Thinking I may try some glucosamine and see if it helps my knees.  Any one else tried it before?  Any improvement?

It helps my dog. The vet said it does seem to help animals. (And they're not subject to the Placebo Effect or "the power of suggestion." )

ebshot - 2010-01-18 1:24 PM Okay, I got out and ran.  It was icky and windy and just nasty but I got it done.  And, my shoes came untied, 3 times! WTF??

Good job Erica  - maybe try some Yankz or something similar...

I haven't tried Yankz before but I used to have something similar but didn't care for them.  However, I dislike my shoes coming untied 3 times even more!  These shoes have been the dumbest running shoes I've ever had.  I don't know what Asics did to my Nimbus between models 10 and the new 11s but I HATE them.

I wish they didn't change models so often. It drives me crazy.....

I did a swim this morning and got very frustrated with new swimmers who are clueless about sharing a lane.

Hope your back is okay tonight.  Maybe you should do some run walk intervals to start.....just thinkin

So far so good (8:14 p.m. here)  was a little stiff this afternoon and evening, but I'm pretty sure the nighttime pt will cure that.  I did alternate some walking today - 2 minute walk to warm up - ran for 13 (I think) another 2 minute walk and finished "strong".  Had minimal (none really) pain during the last 5 minutes, but, I'm still a little nervous about the jarring.  I think I will do another 2 and 2 tomorrow if I feel the same.  If they had a bigger mat, I would do some of that same pt before and after the run - but it's usually full.

Hey team!  I just got back from San Fransisco.  I managed to stay caught up on the PT, but it looks like my butt needs to get in the pool a lot in the next 10 days.

And the best part is after spending 6 days in California I am welcomed home by a lovely little ice storm.  It's good to be back.

Did a 20min CP test last night on the trainer...  it hurt.  Then I went to run a mile as a brick...  it hurt too!  Eased my pain with a couple of "recovery" beverages....

Discovered that I thrashed my quads pretty good when I had to climb the stairs at work this morning....

Artemis - 2010-01-19 2:39 PM I ran 3.8 miles today.  It was pretty tough.  My lungs are still congested and that is making the running tough.

Nice job getting all your naps in this month

Its dedication like that which will put Tased and Confused over the top!!

ETA:  More hilarity...

Hello peeps.  Got a 1/2 hour treadmill run in this morning.  Felt like I was running under water.  Whatever this bug is that I'm fighting, it's all in my chest.  Was tempted to slow to a walk a few times, but kept going for a little over a 5k.  It feels like I've been away from it for a month.

Although I have been able to run lately and I've seen my mood improving

I figure if it's applied right it could be something like electroshock therapy!

I don't know, just got up feeling cruddy and the kids were being all lazy and such (leaving their dirty laundry on the floor instead of putting it in the laundry basket) and it made me crabby.  Tired of cold weather too.  Just blah.  Perhaps a little jolt of electricity could get me back to feeling like my normal self!

When I had the bug last month - lots of coughing and the like - I would put a Hall's coughdrop in my mouth on the way to the gym, still had it for most of my run and it seemed to work wonders.  Have you tried that?

Lunch hour workout went great!  Did 30 minutes (and 7 seconds) on an exercise bike with a cross country program.  It said I went 7.5 miles.  I wonder how accurate those bikes are on distances?  After that, I wanted to do a tiny run, so...I did a rehab run, of sorts.
5 minute run at 10 mm pace, 1.0 incline
3 minute walk at 2.0 incline
2 minute run at 2.0 incline
2 minute walk at 3.0 incline
total of 1 mile.
Only thing barking today were my calves from that bike ride!
636 calorie burn, if you keep track of such things.
Ok.  Back to work.

Wow.  Do they still make that stuff?  Or has their market share been eaten up by the so-called energy drinks?
