jlamm66 - 2011-11-03 2:54 PM First for me.  My wife and I picked this one because we wanted to turn it into a vacation.  We needed one late in the year, due to her job this is the only time she can take off.  She works at the STL ZOO.  Initial plans were to hike down the Grand Canyon and do some back packing through Arizona. Then hit the National parks in Utah and Colorado on the way back to STL.   Well the plans changed a little when she got pregnant with twins!  The babies are due in December so she is staying home per Doc's orders.  Will not be the same without her.

Happy news about the babies, but sad she can't be there.  I'm a little sad my wife can't be there.  It would be nice to have someone there at the finish to share it with.

Snow on October 30th and 70s on November 7th, I love New England. Making up for the missed long ride last weekend with a long ride tomorrow (bundled up of course). I am thinking I will need bike sleeves during the bike in AZ and will have the run sleeves available if needed.

Anyone leaving a light jacket or gloves in there bag that you get at mile 62? or just gonna start with them. Can i drop stuff off then? Will I get it back?

SOrry for all the questions, first full IM.

Hey IMAZ'ers! Just wanted to extend an invite to all of you for our 2nd annual Slowtwitch?TRIBE Multisport Pre-IMAZ Party! Meet the pro's and we have an amazing raffle! Oh, and free food and beer.

It is finally time!
The Slowtwitch Gathering at Tribe Multisport is happening again, and we can't be more excited about it! Last year was a blast so we're doing all we can to make this year even better... and raise even more money for our local charityNot One More Foundation. Once again, we're having financial advisor and fellow Slowtwitcher (one of the top age group triathletes in the country) Bryan Dunn co-sponsor this event. We're hoping that whether you're racing, volunteering, spectating, or just looking for a good time, you join us.

The event is planned for Friday, November 18th from 3-5pm at Tribe Multisport. The time should give participants ample time to make it to registration, the pro press conference, etc. and then allow you to get back to transition for the athlete dinner (store is about 6-7 miles from IM village). We're planning on having free food, drinks, and some pretty kick raffle prizes (keep reading!).

As part of the ST gathering, I've once again arranged with a pretty deep list of pro's so you can “See what the pro’s are riding”. About 14-16 pro triathletes (participating at IMAZ) will be at Tribe with their bikes as they'll be racing them on Sunday. You’ll have an opportunity to check ‘em out, talk to the pro’s, take pictures, and get plenty of autographs. We're very flattered and lucky that these pro's have taken time out of their day to join us for the event.

Here’s the list of confirmed Pro’s:

- Linsey Corbin (2nd Year)
- Meredith Kessler (2nd Year)
- Lewis Elliot
- Ian Mikelson (2nd Year)
- Jozsef Major (2nd Year)
- Kevin Taddonio
- Jackie Arendt
- Sebastian Keinle
- Jessica Smith
- Kelly Williamson
- Christian Nitschke
- Chris Boudreaux
- Donna Phelan (2nd Year)
- Leanda Cave
- Michi Weiss
- Heather Wurtele (Maybe Trevor as well)
- Erika Csomor (2nd Year)
- Eneko Llanos & Dirk Bockel (unconfirmed)

As for the raffle, we're very lucky to have some great partners that have donated some great prizes. Everyone in attendance will receive 1 raffle ticket with the option of buying extras. ALL MONEY RAISED via raffle tickets will be donated to the Not One More Cyclist Foundation. NOM is a local organization dedicated to ending cyclist-vehicle accidents on the roads that are unfortunately all too common. Thanks to Shimano, Cannondale, SRAM, Reynolds, Nineteen, Scott, Vittoria NA, Speedplay, Louis Garneau, Profile Design, Smith, and ISM Saddles.
List of raffle prizes...
Please RSVP so that we have an idea of how many people to expect, how many ST Gathering T-shirts to make, and also how many kegs to buy. Feel free to bring guests, our store is 9,000 sq ft so we should be able to accommodate everyone. Email ([email protected]) if you have any questions.

Bryan - hope all is well.  Great job Wed night at the ONE meeting.  Was going to talk to you afterward, but had to run and you were already in conversation with others.

I am going to try and make the pre-race event at Tribe.  It is on my wife's birthday, and she is already giving up time for me for IM, so we shall see..........

Weather is cooling off here in Phoenix (at least to us it is).  Last few years at race time it has been in the 60's or 70's, with wind and rain thrown in there a little bit.

A NH individual will not likely find it cold, but I would recommend bringing a light jacket and a few warmer items for your race bags, just in case.  You will probably laugh at many of the AZ natives who will be bundled up tight come race evening.

Bryan, I'll be there possibly with a few other racers that don't read or post here.Really hoping Bockel shows up so things can get awkward when he sees me in my "Mind Bockeling" shirt I bought off his website.

Bryan, I plan on stopping by for a bit at least. I quite word of this via ST, found Tribe on Twitter, followed, ended up I was the 500th follower--so I gotta at least go by to get my $25 gift certificate, water bottles, and visor I apparently won! Woohoo!

lol, looks like there will be some extra excitement come race weekend.

My brother just called to let me know that he submitted us (him, me and my dad) for the Ironman Training Team contest for AZ and we won.  That means, interviews, cameras following us etc.....

Oh, and $2500 and entry into any race next year.

I forget, how long to register?  I remember some pretty decent line times.

If I leave Vegas at 8, get to Tempe Beach by 2 at the latest, think I can get through check in to the ST gathering?  Maybe I should leave by 7...

And find my hotel, check in, athlete dinner...  Phew, busy day.

Maybe we could get a BT table at the dinner?
