Totally ridiculously funny. So hard not to laugh at them (don't want to embarrass them) but it's the funniest thing ever to see them trying to walk without putting their feet down!! Kind of like when I tried to get my cat to wear a harness. She's an indoor cat only who really yearns to be outside. I was hoping to be able to take her outside on a leash. First she wouldn't move at all, then she lurched around like she was drunk. She ultimately ended up learning how to slip the harness so it's been relegated to the "failed attempts" box. Oh well. At least it was some good entertainment while it lasted. Hahaha! Oh the poor things, they have to KNOW they look completely ridiculous - but OMG is it ever funny to witness! We've thought a LOT about getting harnesses for the kittehs to be able to take them out, it makes me sad to think that it's possible they've never, ever been outside since we have NO idea what they're previous living situation was. However, I have no doubt that it would probably be a disaster in the making and if we're crazy enough to try it, we should buy shares in Band-Aid before any attempt is made. You all kept me quite entertained during court today with thoughts of doggies in boots (my dog hates them) and kitties in harnesses (never tried it, never will) Well I went with the SPD-SL system. I installed them last night and practiced today on the drainer. I really like the feel of it. More.... solid I guess. I think I got the hang of clipping in and out. It's just a smidge different from the SPD so hopefully I'll be spared the slow-mo tip when I go on the road. Thanks for the input! ETA: Fi looks GOOOOOOD with her new black pedals! Yay! Glad you figured it out and like it so far. Does the bike album need updating with her new "bling"? |

Back from vaca (awesome family trip) where it was tough to connect. Lots happened here! I'll comment as I'm able to catch up... On this end, it looks like my season is in trouble. My knee won't go more than a couple miles running, despite a rest period and easy ramp. So, while I can do a couple miles at a time (so, lots of short runs in my future - which is better than the couch!), I can't do anything like "train." We'll see what a season without racing (might complete a couple, if I can get the distance back on the run - even without the speed) is like, as racing is my thing. Or maybe I'll be able to get back on track for the second half - we'll see. Ugh - all that winter base evaporating… At least I'm in shape for bikini season. Matt Well, crud, Matt. That stinks. I suppose if you get desperate, you could do some tri relays and have somebody else do the running. It wouldn't be the same but at least you'd be doing something that remotely resembles racing without killing yourself. Wouldn't advise fishing in a bikini, though. Could lead to a nasty sunburn. Matt, I read this one when I was on the road and wanted to respond. I think the relay idea would help you stay involved. Is it possible to have your wife do the run leg? Maybe get one of the kids involved and make it a family thing? I get the impression that you are an "all out" kind of racer and your knee might balk at the idea of running 5K at top speed, given where you are at the moment. |

Member 2689 Denver, CO | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2014 CLOSED Thread 2 Today's dumb bike rider sighting: woman riding peach cruiser, fluorescent yellow back pack, no helmet, black leather boots with 4-inch heels. Guess she can use one of her boots to punch holes in any car that dares to get too close. |

It's SUPER windy and my knee was sore for a week after packing Mak last time. Race Sunday? Yes. Monica- I sent coordinator a note last night asking if Max had missed his flight. She replied "No. Dogs delayed due to all dogs needing to leave at the same time." lol IDK Um... okay?? That seems kinda weird to me, but whatever... I'd like to think she knows what she's doing? I know! I even researched the nationwide rescue group she works with before getting involved. They ship dogs all over. It's not new to them. I think she's just a flake about communication...or she hopes he stays with us. sigh. Flaky people are my irritation today. Had another lady pull a no show for meeting me. Hurried out of my swim and everything. I PROMISED Jason no more permanent dogs. Like pinky, cross my heart, hope to die kind of promise. Yeah, well, my parents promised not to move from Iowa while I was on a three-week camping trip in high school. Guess what? |

I've been off since last Friday (well, I had a couple pick up shifts this week, including anesthetizing a pig...) and I am getting some stuff don't around the house and yard. For any Manatees that were around last year, you may remember that I was taking Calculus II and failed. Well, I retook it and found out a couple days ago that I got 80% on the final (last year I got 41%) and ended up with an A in the course. Good thing, cause I don't think I could have taken it a third time... Good luck to all racers, heal up DL'ers! |

I read his, and re-read yours yesterday. I think they are both applicable to way more than sports. Good stuff. BTW, any of you Twitter users, Jesse is a good one to follow, because he has a good blend of goofy and intelligence. And for you Instagrammers, Adrienne has been putting up great shots of herself in action, so if you want to be motivated (or demoralized), give her a follow. I have a couple pictures of hers that help remind me of what reality is all about. Jonathan, I'm heading over to Strava to find you man! |
