For those not racing, Given one workout, what time of day do you prefer to train and why? No racing here. Headed to Dallas Friday for a board meeting. Hope to get a couple of runs in there. I like lunch time. Gets me out of the office, keeps me from going out to eat, and just fits a lot better in my schedule then anything else. For longer training sessions on the weekend, I like to get them done early so I don't loose too my QT with the family. Good luck racers!

Elite 3072 san francisco | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN fast, furious, and closed No racing...weekend big 5-0 party for a good friend. Morning workouts work best for me. Seem to do better energy-wise. Swimming after work when I have to do two workouts/day has gotten much easier...just have to watch what I eat that day. Trevor-I hear you on that motivation thing. Time to sign up for a race or start planning next year's season and goals is always helpful. |

^^^ X2 Still trying to get the hang of my new work schedule and more business travel. I see lots of hotel treadmills in my future... Been doing a lot of lurking... there's always so much going on around here, it's hard to keep up!
No racing for me this weekend but I did register for a Half Mary in Norfolk, VA on 13 Nov. The Norfolk Freedom Half Marathon. I seem to be most focused on running right now...
edit: Training times: Early morning for runs and afternoons/early evenings for rides - I still don't like riding in the dark. Fall is in full swing... closed our pool up last weekend and got the hot tub running Edited by Scalded_Dawg 2011-10-19 2:18 PM |

Master 2009 Charlotte, NC | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN fast, furious, and closed No racing here either. My favorite time to train is whenever I can sqeeze it in between the kids, all their stuff, traveling husband, etc. If I had my choice, I suppose first thing in the morning is when I would choose but that is not always a possibility. |

Me too, minus the lurking part. I need some sort of incentive program, other than my pants being tighter because that doesn't seem to be motivation enough. |

Ditto. Not complaining about a new job by any means, but with the long hours, kids lives, husband training, and lack of daylight it is very easy to do a whole lot of nothing. Hope everyone is doing well. Not feeling very motivated to work at this 4 oclock hour so I'll catch up on some BT posting. Very productive use of time. |

We don't care if you are running, biking, swimming, cross-country skiing, racing Cougar's up a mountain, or some combination of something I missed ...... WE WANT DETAILS!!!! For those not racing, Given one workout, what time of day do you prefer to train and why? Hi Peeps! I'm back home, but boy am I a mess. For the second time in a month, I am SICK. At first I thought maybe being back in the pool and allergies was causing me issues, but two days ago, I started hacking, ratthling and now have almost no voice (some people in our house think that's a blessing!). Certainly not nearly as debilitating as what Linda is going through with her son, but I'm irked! Heading to the doctor tomorrow. To answer Dineen's question, I always prefer first thing in the morning workouts, but I will say I've gained a little flexibility on that front and like it. During the season and lately, I haven't been able to get them in right away and I am finding that's ok, even harder efforts. What I can say with certainty is I could not hold workouts until nighttime like Kim and some of the rest of you. Zero motivation. I will also say I'm enjoying working out a whole lot less than during the season. With no major Spring races on my calendar I don't see a huge ramp up anytime soon like when the group did Lonestar or REV3. So far so good with it. |

*FYI - I got my new bike frame, size 44cm that will fit on 700c wheels, a few weeks back. I was on a 48cm that caused me to be a little too stretched out, and did cause issues as I went on much longer rides. I still have my old frame so I can either sell it or build it as a back up bike. I LOVE MY NEW FRAME!! It feels so much better and I'm much more faster/aggressive. She is...Roulette 2.0! The fork had the red to be repainted (Bike guy did it for free) to match my frame - as it's Sea Foam Green accents.* I know I'm terrible with this MG, but I'm gonna try to keep up and read up on the RR's and reply there. I don't think I'll be able to be on MG for the Winter. :-( I would hate to join, and not really post anything. :-)
DJ, Congrats! Hope you keep popping in on the mg. Every time we hear from you, you've done some amazing and interesting thing!! |

Prefer, or do out of necessity?? I would love to be able to fit in a lunchtime workout, but it's not an option during the school year. So, I usually workout at 5am and again in the evenings when I'm doing doubles. I like the fact that nothing EVER interferes with my morning workouts (except me), and they leave me feeling very relaxed and full of energy for most of the day.

I'm definitely a morning girl. I'm always beat when I get home form work then it's full speed ahead to kid stuff and household chores so squeezing in a workout is rough. So tonight is going to such running in the rain in the dark. Fun!! Fun!! BTW - you northwest folks can have your crappy rain back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
