Nice 10k run after an actually productive day of writing up some work stuff. Those productive work days have been few and far between for me since social distancing started. We just got hit with another four weeks of shelter in place. I’m at six weeks today already. That announcement was tough.

Got in a 3 mile run yesterday. Did some early morning grocery shopping today in place of a workout so I didn't have to go at a busy time and wait in line outside. Hoping to get some yoga in later today!

Grocery shopping this morning was like a workout!! Between the mask and the store’s heating system, I was dripping with sweat by the time I finished up.

Then spent the morning wrestling with my food sealer. It didn’t seem to want to seal today.

Afternoon run—beautiful 45’. Was hard after yesterday’s run, but got it done and the overall time wasn’t bad, even though the start was slow. Now more patio work—time to shovel some gravel!

Shoveling gravel definitely counts as a strength and core workout.  LOL  Nice work on fitting that in with your training.

A really rough three hour trainer ride today, followed by a great 30’ brick run. You win some, you lose some, I guess. It is raining here today, so a break from patio building.

Can anyone explain how one gets a flat mid ride on the trainer?!?

Yesterday’s ride took a distinct turn for the worse at the 90’ mark. I didn’t notice until after that my tire was flat. No way was it flat at the beginning. I would have noticed while tightening the drum. So...what happened?!?

Two hours on the trainer today (after fixing my flat). Now on to shifting gravel in the backyard.

Hello again?

I spent a few good years on BT and loved the online tri community. I suffered pretty sever plantar fasciitis in late 2015 that pretty much took me out of the sport. After finally healing up, and in the process getting extremely out of shape, I'm ready to jump back in. This was the group I was in when I exited and was hoping you would welcome me back. (I still have the bike jersey if that helps)

Hi Chris, welcome back.

so after 2 week's illness, one week rest and one week training, I am back to square one. Thought I was getting sick again on Saturday, same symptoms, very scary. So no tri-training for me for another couple of weeks at least. Thank goodness for GOLF!

Of course, Chris.  Welcome back.  Glad you finally got over that injury - that's a tough one.  Any races planned (cancelled or not)?

Hi, all.  More trainer work over the last three days with all the rain we've had lately.  Friday was a 40' primer workout, Saturday a 15-ish mile circuit race on Zwift (55th out of 85, executed this race pretty well other than one mistake where I lost my group when we passed a smaller pack and I got hung on to the wrong group for a few seconds, which is all it takes to get dropped - oh, and I got out kicked by a U12 rider LOL).  Sunday was about 75' Z2 riding around Yorkshire, still on  the wrong side of the road.    Lots of core work this weekend, too.

One of the changes we've had is that we don't set alarms in the morning anymore, which as been awesome.  I usually get up at 515 AM but there's not reason to now with no forced workout or school schedule other than my daughter and I need to be at our desks around 830 AM for work and school.  So we've been "sleeping in" every day to between 6 and 630, so I'm waking up naturally.  I used to think I could live on six hours, need seven hours, and want eight hours of sleep a night but am re-thinking that to add another 30-45 minutes to that as I've consistently been getting over eight and the difference in my training/mood/energy has been pretty dramatic.  Of course, this will all go to hell in a handbasket once things open up again and 6 AM yoga class or 545 AM swim sessions return.

Hope you all have a great week!

Yay welcome back! And not only because you still have the bike jersey!
Glad you've healed up. That's a tough injury b/c you pretty much have to completely rest it. I had teammates in college who never got over it and were in the trainers every single day getting treatment.

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend.
I got a long run in Saturday (~5 1/2). I felt pretty good in the beginning, but about halfway through my back was feeling really fatigued. I've never had this happen to me before. It made it difficult to hold up my arms and keep them moving. Has anyone experienced this before? I haven't been doing my PT (I'm the worst), which would have explained this happening. I think I'm just getting really out of shape.

Roomie and I did a workout this morning with a personal trainer. We've decided we're going to train with her every Monday while we're stuck at home. It's a good way to start the week.

Hope everyone else is well!

Can't help myself

8 miles for me on the correct left hand side of the road! And then just a quick arm w/o. Physio mate said to save core work (as it includes planks) for non riding days so i don't aggravate the injury. Felt weird not doing loads after I got home.

Hope everyone doing as ok as possible!

Rest day here—so patio work it is! Finally got to the point where I’m ready to start laying bricks for the retaining wall. It has been a lot of digging to get to this point, so I’m super excited!!

I don't think you get the concept of a rest day, Gretchen.

We need some pics when it's all done.

30’ run this morning and off to the patio!! It is a cut back week for training, so hopefully I’ll be making good progress.

Progress deterrent though, yesterday I broke my left ring finger by slamming it with a mallet. Not, I repeat not, a great thing to do. It isn’t that bad, except it is so swollen that my skin hurts and I don’t have any fingerprints anymore on that finger! I didn’t know that was possible!! Oh well, off to the patio!

Owie!!!! On a gentler note I managed 35 minds core/rehab work. I am having a hard time working my obliques. What do my fellow beer drinkers do for those?

Sappho—try Russian twists. They’ll blast your obliques.

One hour on the trainer with 2x10’@95%FTP. Fun! Raining here today, so taking a break from the patio work and moving furniture so we can get new floors.

Hi everyone! Did a boot camp workout yesterday with my roommate. It was ROUGH.
Then today I did a 3.2 mile run, followed by a core challenge. I listened to a podcast on my run. Sometimes I listen to music, and try to do music that is set to a certain tempo. There is a minimum of 10 seconds/mile difference between music and podcasts haha. Does anyone else switch it up and see a difference? I think podcasts distract me and the music keeps me focused and hitting a certain pace since I can match my stride with it.

I have never run outside with headphones on.  I guess that wasn't an option when I started running (in 1982!!!!) and never really got into the practice.  I do have different music tracks for indoor cycling workouts...I can do a movie on Netflix, etc. or watch the Tour de France or something like that when doing lower effort work, but need some music to nail races or really touch interval workouts.
