Now I have two boards to follow, Madison and this one.

I saw the male leaders go by about 2m from my house.  Man are they rockets and not tough on the eyes either.  Those legs are something else.....on the way home some dork ran me off the road and up a curb.  He claimed he didn't see my signal.  I saw him slowing down so went to turn left when all of a sudden I hear him locking up his brakes, I turn around and boom.   Knee scraped up bad again in the same spot and stretched some ligaments in my left ankle which I am going to have to watch closely.  Other than that, my bike looks ok.  I'm off to watch some more of the race and then take up my slot for the rest of the day/night.

Rob's through the swim and first half of the bike.  I don't know that "canadian" conversion...but the numbers look fast.

Go ROB!

SSMinnow - 2009-09-12 2:24 PM I'm a half ironman!

Finished in 6:22 which was slower than I hoped for, but I'll take it.  Will give you more details later, but lets just say the swim went well (no idea on time yet),  I stuck to the bike plan, but the run was awful.  The ladylike version is gastric distress brought on by swallowing a mother load of air when I swim and the 6 10% grade hills that I walked up every time.  Ah well, all in a days work.

Awesome job Suzy!  And congrats on the AG finish.

BOOYAH! Congratulations! That's a tremendous accomplishment. Sooooo awesome! And I just got back from watching Birdy and Kim do an Olympic. They EASILY took the "family championship", since Birdy got 2nd in his AG (and a new PR too, I think), and Kim got 3rd in hers. Way to go, all you speedsters!

Now if you would only hurry up and get over here... You can pour me a Jack n' Coke since my calves are shot!

Thanks for coming to watch today!  Always awesome to have support! Even though I didn't smile once today

Congrats on the race finish!  And I thought you were going to just cruise around the course.

Linda

Right down on campus at a place called Library Mall.  It is close to our main drag, State Street so the area is packed.  I get to service runners both coming down and up State Street so it is berserk (in a good way).  There are 90 of us working at one time.  Best of all, the volunteer t shirt is my early trump card to register tomorrow morning.  If I bring it, I get to go into the "special line" ahead of all of the other slugs that are signing up, but didn't volunteer!

I'm off......

Hi gang.  First off way to go Steve and Suzy!   I was thinking of you when I was swimming.  I don't think either of you have done a race all year that you didn't hold a podium spot.  Super fantastic!!!!

GO ROB!!!!!

I had a great training weekend.  Went down on Friday night to practice running on the course in the evening to get some race conditions and I set a PR for my race pace!   Was only 12 miles but the best 12 miles I've ever done.  I am excited for race day when I hit that part of the course again I'll have happy memories.

The next day was the swim.  Yup, the ocean is salty, yup 1.71 miles is a long way, and yup, I DID IT!!    Getting in through the waves was a learning experience but other than that it was all good.  Race Report is up and there is a photo album of the race if anyone is interested.  Here are a few photos to prove I did it.  Thanks for the advise Linda. It helped.

Great job Tracy

Well I did it, 51 miles this week.

Was a bit nervous after getting to bed really late but run wasn't bad at all today.  Based on Tuesdays 19 miler I took this one easy just in case so maybe that helped also.

Plainsman AU - 2009-09-12 12:35 PM I just had a great workout that I thought I would brag about.  I mean I posted on Thursday morning about how crappy of a workout I had, well this morning made up for it.  Did a 54 mile ride this morning with our group, and we really pushed it, but felt like there was no chain on the bike.  Off the bike I did a 4.5 mile brick and ran faster and easier than I ever remember.  It was a great feeling after being deflated thursday after my "long' run.   I think I really needed this as a confindence booster going into the taper weeks.

Rob and Suzy should be well into their races right now.  Hope they have the wind at their backs

Awesome training session dude.

Rob--Way to go!  Can't wait to hear all the details in your RR!

Tracy--you are my swimming hero.  Swimming in salt, in waves like that is amazing.  Excellent, excellent job!

I volunteered for 5 hours today.  I was the sponge girl, a backscratcher, and  all around cheerleader.  The atmosphere was elecrifying and frightening all at the same time.  So, so many athletes were walking zombies by mid afternoon.  It was hot and very sunny and the vast majority were just spent. Walked a few people to the med tent to turn in their chips which was sad.  The really interesting thing is these athletes in all their pain and suffering were so polite; please and thank you were regular things I heard today. I saw some great finish times for two of my friends and am still tracking the rest, including TripleMom if you know her. I admit I briefly asked myself "are you sure you want to put yourself through this next year?".  I am off to stand in line at 5:30am tomorrow so I guess the answer is yes.
