Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() SSMinnow - 2010-08-16 11:05 AM WAY TO GO TRACY!!! Since you didn't mention it I am going to assume the body held up well which is great news! Nice work Mark. You've come a long way in a short time. Just remember that hard breathing is NOT always a good sign. It's workout dependent. If you were out there doing intervals or fartleks, makes total sense. Your long or recovery run, not so much. Not a lot to report from me. I am going to get fitted for a new saddle this afternoon. Oh and will be taking in the RU at the same time. I went to ride it this morning which is a rarity and the DI2s are dead. Insert eye roll here! tahrens - 2010-08-16 9:33 AM Howdy everyone. Hope all is well in BTMG world. Great job out there this weekend Suzy. Sorry the saddle is still giving you issues. Hopefully your scheduled saddle fitting will provide some relief. I had my first epic training weekend. 7 mile run on Friday, 50 on the bike on Sat and 7 run again on Sunday. I've never done that kind of combination before and am super stoked I did it. Actually I ran on Sunday with a girlfriend who was struggling so it was an easier run than I would have liked. I was really feeling the juice and could have attacked the course. Oh well. BTW, I GOT A DROID THIS WEEKEND!!! No clue how to use it. My productivity at work today is totally shot while I sit and play with my new toy!!! If you get pi$$ed at the Di2 and want to get rid of it, send it my way... ; ) |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Grats steve, I remember when my daughter was so tiny and small. It was so much fun, I will never forget holding her when we brought her home and being so scared to hurt her. She was the size of both my hands and looked so small. Now she is 2.5 and wears her blonde pigtails everywhere. Such a personality too, it is so awesome. My wife and I are hoping for another but some issues may prevent that but I will say that we have a perfect little one now so I am happy with that. What is funny is how people react that she is so polite. We have taught her (what I thought was normaL) to say please and thank you all the time. People act so shocked when she says please or thank you though, too funny. We bought her a betta fish yesterday and we named it Jessie after her favorite toy story character. Last night she ate dinner next to the fish tank, had her snacks by it and even read the fish her books. |

But who here hasn't blown through a traffic light at 4am (after stopping to make sure all's clear, of course)? It just bugged me. I fully intended to let any speedy cyclists know they were there... but only seemed to see the low-key or commuter ones after that! In the future I'll likely slow down a bit near the bathroom buildings just in case... cuz even though the guys didn't look fast, I'm sure they could catch my pokey a$$!! |

Majority of these people out there are VERY RECREATIONAL, and time and time again it is bound to happen that a cyclist will be going to fast and run into some rollerblading idiot, or something like this. I almost dumped my bike out there once riding in a paceline because of a traffic log in front of us.... We had to lock up our brakes to avoid taking others out. It is a crowded pain, but yes 6:00am is a different story. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Kyla, I understand your complaint. It does seem extremely unfair that they are speed gunning cyclist when they are riding OFF THE ROAD, yet cyclist receive so little support when riding on the road. I'm sure we've all been screamed at countless times by angry drivers to get off the road. Guess we should all stay inside on our trainers and at spin class. |

I never heard of bike cops, that is crazy. Isn't there something better for them to do and are speeding bikes a problem in that area? I do think some people don't exercise good judgement when the trail is crowded. And some cyclist are arse-holes. I've run on this trail much more than I've biked on it, and before I started cycling I always felt like the cyclists had this attitude like the trail was theirs and everyone needed to adjust to them. Quite frankly, it pissed me off, as clearly peds should have the right of way. It would not surprise me if there have been incidents involving fast cycling... Maybe what bothers me is that this is likely a case of 1-2 people ruining things for others. Not that any rights have been taken away, of course. Along those lines... a local triathlon (Black Hills) was canceled this year due to a biker yelling unkind things to park-goers. A friend of mine was there and saw the incident. She is not a fast athlete, and was explaining that he was just ahead of her, so it's not like he was gunning for a podium slot or something (not that that would make it OK, of course!) Here is the post from the RD: A statement from course director Jon Atherton of AA Sports: In 2009 an older couple entered this very busy park and stopped to read an informational sign just inside the main gate. A participant who was returning to the park near the end of the bike segment of the race was forced to slow down and go around the vehicle. While passing the stopped vehicle, the participant shouted a series of expletives at the driver who was not even aware of the cyclist's presence - all of which transpired right in front of the Park Ranger. The result – the event can happen ONLY if the Transition Zone can be moved to the small grassy area at the park entrance, which is simply not feasible. This course modification would have made the venue disjointed and would degrade the quality and safety of the event. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused the athletes aiming to participate in this year's event. |

When I was in DC at the end of July, I saw a park police guy around Haines Point parked in his car just past a corner. He was picking off cyclists that didn't stop at the stop sign. Now there was the regular stop sign but hanging underneath it was another sign the same size as the stop sign that said something like "Bicycles must stop at stop sign". So it was clearly marked and guys were blatently going through however, while this cop was giving these cyclists tickets (with lights flashing on his car and all!!!) there were cars doing rolling stops through the stop sign and not getting pulled over. Just seems like they should be addressing the higher risk activity. Just make sure you cover up the license plate on your bike so they can't track you when you get all aero and blow them away!! |

I was a disaster on the siting front and used my same "easy effort" mentality and even with that I would have made the cut off by 30 minutes. Pretty funny as we were in transition changing I started talking to a woman who was also training for her first IM WI. She finished the swim in 2:10 and was totally jazzed. Said she never swam that far before. She said she barely biked and was planning to walk the run, but had zero fear for the day. Puts it all in perspective for me....while some of us worry over every little detail others can just go with the flow....there are days I wish that was me! Awesome story!! It is cool how people just roll with it. I try to learn from them and let a bit of it ooze on to me. But I'm not very good at it. And congratulations on a successful swim!! When I woke up this morning (and even still, this afternoon), I was amazed at how sore I was after yesterday. Running mile after mile after mile of easy pace doesn't faze me one bit. Running 3+ fast... OUCH!!! Just goes to show ya...!! A big welcome to John and family to their new home!! Happy settling in!! What fun to explore new running and cycling routes! Have you found your OWS spot yet, too?? He doesn't know where the OWS spots are but I bet he has located the nearest Beer Store! ![]() Actually the best running spot around is only about 10 minutes from his house and the best biking trail is only about 15-20 minutes. He'll have to go about 30-45 to get to the closest OWS area.....shhhhh don't tell anyone else but he is only going to be living about 5-10 minutes from me and I don;t want the neighbors up in arms. ![]() ![]() WOW steve...lucky you. |
