Got a run in.  I have no clue what I was supposed to do but I ran a 5k with my head pounding.  Please excuse me while I shower, get the kids off the bus and go take a nap!

Hey guys,

This hasn't come up here, but it's being discussed on the other teams, so I'm going to repost "procedures for dropping "missing" people or changing goals" here, too.

First off, please don't remove anyone from the spreadsheet. That's for the Challenge Organizer (me, this month) to do. The reason is --> It's up to the Challenge Organizer to determine what rules will be followed, and apply them uniformly across all the teams. That way, different teams aren't doing different things, etc.

That said, here's the procedure for my challenges. (Again, different organizers have different procedures, so this is just for the challenges that I put together....)

When people seem to have disappeared:
1) The Team Captain lets me (the Challenge Organizer) know.
2) The Team Captain sends a PM to the missing person. (But only the team captain does this. That way, the person doesn't feel like he/she is being stalked.)
3) If the person doesn't reply within a few days, the Team Captain lets me know.
4) I'll check the person's logs and determine their last login date. Based upon that, I'll set a date for dropping the person. If the person hasn't checked in by that date, I'll remove the person from the spreadsheet.

If it's the Team Captain who has disappeared, feel free to select a new captain!

When people have been sick or injured (or just overwhelmed with life), but do NOT want to drop out of the challenge, I'll let them revise their goal. There are a few different ways to do this, but for sickness/injury, here's one way:
(Original goal) x (Days that you COULD work out) / (Days in the month) = Revised goal

For example: January has 31 days. Say your goal was 50 miles, but you missed 6 days due to illness/injury.
50 miles x (25 days that you COULD work out) / (31 days in Jan.) = 40 miles revised goal

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Dee

D001 - 2010-01-20 6:43 PM So, short of tasing my heel until all feeling is gone forever.... Is there actually any way to get rid of PF?

Rest, ibuprofen, and PT?

That would require patience though....

I'm thinking more along the lines of tasering it away....

Really? Hm......... I wonder if anyone around here does it.

Wait. Maybe I need to find out exactly WHAT it is before I go rushing into it. If it's more painful than a taser-tap, maybe I'll just opt for the taser.

Or amputation. Do I really NEED a heel?

GROUP TASING FOLLOWED BY A WINE CHASER... Sign me up!!!  Althought these winter doldrums have me reaching for something a little stronger, like a dirty martini.

So Dee, I wasn't quite clear.  How do you feel about PF?

*ducks*

The frozen water bottle rolled under the foot did wonders the one time I felt PF flaring up.

Eh. All it did was make my foot cold..... :P

TinkerBeth told me to take an ice bath. I told her that I'm allergic to ice.

Hey team.  I am going to test ride 2 tri-bikes this afternoon.  I am very excited but a little nervous.  The shop is in a cruddy part of town with really lousy roads (pot holes & narrow double lanes) not sure where I am gonna ride.  I don't want to crash on a test ride!!

Well, at least if you crash on a test ride, it won't be YOUR bike that's hitting the ground.

I'm thinking the shop will have a recommendation as to where to ride?

What time are you going? Are you going to report back to us with full details? (Of COURSE you are, right? )

Oh, well in THAT case, sure, I can handle a little ice.

Maybe I should just drink a sufficiently large number of margaritas that I don't notice the ice under my foot?

OMG!!! I am in love!!! My current bike is 10+ yrs old and sorta a road bike, sooooo riding a carbon frame tri bike was unbelievable.  It took me a few minutes to feel comfortable with the tighter geometry and I am still a little nervous on the tri bars but what a difference.  The ride was great!!!! I am looking at end of year clearance stuff so I rode a Cannondale Slice and a Felt.

The fit guy told me where to ride and while there was less traffic, the roads were still really beat up.  Lots of sand and potholes with patches on top of patches.  I may ask him to let me take the Felt for a longer ride on a nearby bike path this weekend or later next week.  But wow, what a difference!!

I didn't get my nap yesterday.  It was too crazy of an afternoon.  But I am feeling a bit better today.  Hopefully this is the last day of my dumb cold.

In other news, tonight is Cole's first Pinewood Derby.  His tank is almost ready.  Just a few more finishing touches.  We know it won't win but it's been fun building it!

I never realized what a big deal Pinewood Derby is....  apparently there are people that travel around the country putting on races...  I guess there is a niche for everything...

Very cool!  What a difference that frame makes, huh.

Hope you get a little longer test ride in and make a decision soon!

Good morning team.  I had a bit of a frustrating morning.  Got up bright and early for a 1 hour dreadmill run... didn't even hit the snooze button ONCE!  Got on the TM and the belt kept slipping.  No biggie, just needed to tighten it.  Well, it took me a half hour to find the stinkin' allen wrench that I needed to tighten it!  So I did a ANNNNGRY half hour run at an average speed that is much faster than my usual. It felt good to get out that aggression/frustration.

Anybody have any fun/interesting plans for the weekend?  I was hoping to get out and see Avatar, but it's looking like about a 50:50 chance that will happen.  Definitely watching some football on Sunday.
