Ahh, riding a bike on a road.  Seems so simple.  So close and so far away.

we got another 1-3 inches of snow this morning. What is this "riding a bike on a road" thing you speak of?

LP is really creeping up on me.  I feel like I've just gotten everything under control and am really enjoying it.  I'm also going through the phase where I realize that there are only 179 days left.  What happened to the other 6 months?

So how much MORE snow did people get last night? We got about another foot. And it was 34 degrees and bright and sunny today and the roads were in great condition. Is it Ironic that today was actually one of the better days to ride outdoors?

We got too much snow here on the north shore of Long Island.  Seriously, I can't see all of this snow melting until early March.

Downtown DC only got ~5 inches where I am (suburbs got a lot more) but you still can't bike on the roads. There is some light snow falling now. I agree, it will be very nice to get back out on the roads again soon!

Ya, I got about another 15inches.  My dog can't even walk around in the backyard at this point and he isn't little at 75lbs.  There's like 2 1/2 feet just sitting there.  The snowbanks in my driveway are like a tunnel.  Shoveling was hard just because to move the snow I had to actually heave it over a  foot wall of snow on all sides....heard we broke the record for snowfall in a month in CT.

Still been getting the training in though and going to Florida for a week in a couple days...pumped to get out of new england for awhile.

We got 16 inches and a total of 62".

We live on the corner of a T and neither road is plowed to the curb well. Makes it hard to back down our driveway as we can't pivot in the road as it's to narrow add in folks come around the corner and can't see us from the 8 foot corner snow pile. It has been slightly warmer so finally much of the roads are down to pavement and easier to run on other than there is no shoulder and roads are quite narrow so not as safe running as I'd like.

Next month I'm going to Vegas with my husband and helping a friend move from FL to TX so I'll be someplace warm about 9 days in February but away from my bike.

7 weeks from today I head to CA for tri camp.

I'm on my third round of PT trying to get my left knee, quad and pes anserine better. I have a very significant loss in quad strength on that side and unable to flex any of my quad muscles without aid of other muscles. I can't do much running and hope that resolving the underlying issues allow me to get back to normal training. Cycling is okay if I don't unclip and swimming is fine.

Yet another humorous/sarcastic Ironman video.  This time it's Ironman vs. UltraRunner man.  There is foul language and very adult humor.  You've been warned: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuBw39uCT4Q&feature=player_embedded

Great video, I have sent several of these to friends and they all agree. We are crazy when we tell them this is fun. Kind of feel sorry for them.

I see so many of you putting in some great numbers for the month of January- despite the terrible weather in many parts of the country. Great job!

Ya'll are making me feel like I need to get my a$$ in gear! Thanks for the motivation.

Kathy - 7 weeks from now, when we're still waiting for all the snow to have melted, you better post some pics of Tri Training in Cali!

Here in the Northeast, they are calling for another massive storm Tues/Wed.  The channel 2 forecast said it may be an 'ice event.'  Greeeeeeat.

*hangs head in despair*

This has been a pretty brutal winter compared to years past, however, they have been taking care of the roads around here pretty well that I have only resorted to the dreadmill 2X and still have broken a personal monthly running record. I remember last year being colder. This has just been a much more snowy winter minus the frigid cold for us.

Been looking @ my bike logs from last year, and I didn't get outside on the weekends until Feb 20th, so I am not freaking out YET. Would like to get outside sooner this year, especially on the weekends. The trainer is cool, but outside is better

So imlp is on my bucket list. Next year hopefully will be the year. Does anyone know of any training programs for charity like "team in training" that would be able to get me a spot into the race. I don't want to do the community fund thing as i think a group would be really fun. Thanks!

P.s. It was 70 and sunny here in ga today. Used to live in upstate NY so I know how many of you feel!

YIKES!!! Don't even say that! I shudder at the thought!

Find a local tri-club and you'll probably find some people to train with. Even if they're doing other Ironman races.
