No Problem! Very honest article that should help us get through this week and realize that this "taper blues" thing is normal.

I have felt like this already this morning.

And that twitch in my shoulder....

See you all on Sunday!

Important questions:

Hard alcohol only sold at state run stores?  Beer & Wine only at grocery stores.

Can you buy anything on Sunday?

I mean let's pretend a guy is thirsty around 8 PM Sunday, what are the options?

I can guarantee I'll be thirsty at 8 p.m. Sunday...I'll likely be somewhere around the midpoint of the marathon course, so my options will be water, Gatorade, Coke, and chicken broth.  But to answer your other questions, when I am thirsty again at 11 p.m. or so, I'm hoping one of you guys will still be awake, still be at the venue, and ready to hand me a beer.

I see that you are working on getting your T3 bag together.  At one time, you could not buy hard alcohol on Sundays in Idaho.  I do not know if this has changed.  To be safe I would plan ahead and bring it with you or buy on Saturday.  No restrictions on the sell of beer and wine.

Don't forget that the first rule of preventing dehydration is to drink before you are thirsty.

State run liqour stores not open on Sunday to my knowledge.  Beer and wine are no problem and you can buy mixed drinks or shots on Sunday, but has to be at a bar.

I am off right now to set up Monday at Toro Viejo.  Right at the corner of 2nd and Lakeside.  You will pass it 7 times during the race!!

I will be jockstrapping, and would be more than happy to hold the post celebration beverage if needed.   Payment in vodka will be accepted!!

Well, if we are going to pass it 7 times during the race, why not stop in and try an enchilada plate??  I'm sure I'll be hungry, and tired of gels, at some point.

Man, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who's feeling like a 16 year old waiting for the prom.  Geez...will the weekend ever get here?

My poor girlfriend just keeps repeating over and over, "I'll be soooo glad when this race is over!"  My coworkers don't even say anything anymore...just roll their eyes and shrug their shoulders in resignation.  (although a lot of them are going to be there in support!)  I'm trying to keep my excitement in check but it's getting more and more difficult.  Soon though...very soon!!!  WHOOOHOOO!

As I begin packing my stuff, I have a few questions for some of you IM vets.

  • Will I need my normal transition bag (TYR backpack) or does everything go in the bags provided by IMNA?
  • Will I need my chip strap, or do the chips come with a strap?
  • Once I finish, is there a place to change into dry clothes, and if so, where are these kept during the race? (with my jockstrap?)
  • Is there post-race massage on site?  I have reservations for a massage Monday afternoon, but if there is a massage tent there on site, I may want to use it.  If so, where do you keep money for a tip?

Trans bag - bring it.  IMNA provides bags but you may want an extra bag for post race dry clothes.

Chip strap - bring it.  IMNA will give you a cheap plastic one but after many hours these might start to cut your leg.

After race you can change in the transition tents.  There is a spot to leave dry post race clothes in the transition area.

Post-race massage on Sunday is in the finish line tent next to the post race food tent.  I guess I'm cheap since tipping never even occured to me.

Thanks, T.  Two more questions that came up based on your responses.

1) Are friends (aka jockstrap) allowed in to assist with gathering stuff up post-race?

2) Will the wetsuit strip over my chip strap, or will I need to take the chip off and then put it back on after the wetsuit is removed?

1) Friends are generally not allowed in the transition area.  You are given a card at registation to give to a friend in case you are unable to pick up your stuff.

2) Never had a problem with getting my wetsuit over my chip.  Before the swim tuck your chip up into the leg of your wetsuit so it will not get grabbed during the swim start.

Post Race Fiesta (Monday Night)

TORO VIEJO - 117 N. 2nd Street - 6pm!

The BTer's have the bar reserved (entrance actually on Lakeside) for food/fun/story swapping/beer drinking and general carrying on!

Bring families, camera and what ever else you think you need!  Please let me know by PM if you are thinking about coming so I can give them a headcount.  We can order off the menu or I can throw something together for like $10/person.  Let me know your preference.  Majority rules!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Thanks for putting it together Bryan.  Sent a PM as well.
