Sorry that I kind of dropped the ball on the how do we all finance this hobby.  I do computer support for North Carolina Cooperative Extension.  I work of NC State University in Raleigh.  Right now I am working towards an event management solution (held up by federal rules on how Extension can use money and what we can charge for, etc. and by university politics).  Part of this may or may not be email marketing and Customer relationship management (CRM) software.  Oh, and as long as we are working with accounting, how about a storefront?  Oh yeah, and...  While I am waiting for the powers that be, I'm working with getting folks into our web solution which sometimes means moving their old site in by hand.

This is a previous list of Manatees in the working world (with a few updates from recent posts)

Chris - DBA/Sr. System Analyst/Data Processing Manager at a small multi bank holding company.
Janyne - NCSU computer geek
Stacey - business manager/financial controller for a system of private schools. So I do all the accounting and finance stuff.
Ann-Marie - attorney for a law enforcement agency
Jonathan AK - US Army Black Hawk Mechanic/Crew Chief in a Medevac Company.
Chad - route sales for a wine distributor plus website development and swim coaching
Richard - self employed truck driver and haulage expert
Salty - environmentally sustainable design, currently doing retail design work for a large corporation (designer (architectural/interior) for SBUX)
Tom - contract analyst for a seven hospital system
Jen -  Postdoctoral Research Fellow at a Medical Center attached to a University in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Department
TJ - federal criminal investigator for the U.S. Treasury
Kate - zookeeper at the Sacramento Zoo, one of the primary keepers of reptiles and amphibian
Jo - retail/merchandise planner
Felicia - college English professor
Kirsten - Veterinary Technician and a Vet Tech Educator
Marcus - E-6 in the USAF and a Crew Chief/Engine Troop on C-130-H3 cargo planes
JoGo - RN, manages cancer research, mainly in radiation, at a large university hospital.
Brie - Associate at small law firm, doing civil litigation, mostly defending property owners from suits by people who slip and fall on tiny patches of ice or non-existent liquids on stairs.
switch - research assistant in a biochemistry lab (job 1) and a grant and paper writer for a congenital heart surgeon (job 2)

I am also a mediator. As a mediator I need continuing mediator credits, which is why I'm spending my day at a boring seminar. So, please get the chatter going!

I had to send my laptop to Phoenix for... something technical... so today I am attempting to be at least somewhat productive on our "public" computer. Yell

C'mon, what are the odds that the fed govt is paying attention to what happens on computers?

I think in edit mode there is a button at the bottom. Near where you make it public.

When Salty gets back I need to ask her about a new builing in Santa Fe that looks a LOT like it could be a SBux. *swoon* If so, it is in a SUPER convenient spot for me.

Hopefully it wouldn't increase my usage much but would make it more convenient when I do go.

No coffee??  I'm not comprehending this... Why no coffee??? Whyyyyyyy??

On a side note, that's the same gym my parents go to during the winters when they're at their place in Casa Grande.

Depending on the route I take to walk to work, the minimum number of S'Bux I pass is two... and darn if I don't love getting those little stars every day on my app.

Yes, I'm addicted, and I don't care!  Cool

Yeah, me too. Triathlon and Starbucks. There are worse addictions. Laughing

Albuquerque and Santa Fe aren't SBux on every corner kinda cities. I do pass one on the way to work but it's not a convenient one to get to (left turn in and out on a busy street). This new one will make it much easier. There is also one on the way home from the gym so I stop in on my swim mornings Cool It's my motivator.

I am addicted to coffee in general. Within .5 mile of my house there is a Dunkin Donuts, Einstein's and SBux. I frequent all of them. After my morning run I usually grab the dog and head to Einsteins for a medium coffee. It's a ritual that the dog insists upon. Really, it's him. On the way to work I then stop at either SBux or DD. often I'm still drinking the coffee from Einsteins. Don't judge me.

Exactly!  I figure as far as addictions go, I'm doing pretty well... even if they DO cost about as much money (or more?) as the bad kinds of addictions.  Cool

I see absolutely nothing wrong with this!

With other things I might be a Judgey McJudgerpants, but NEVER when it comes to coffee.  It's essential to my life and the life of those around me.  It makes me less stabby.

No coffee? That's just wrong.

Oh please, someone please deliver. I'm not too far from Erin Laughing

You still can't tip with your card. OHHH! Yep, I am the guy with the big ol' wooden spoon, just stirrin' it up!

I'm still waiting for that addition to the app as well. It's awkward being at the store and asking for your change in $1 bills Cool

On the way to work I then stop at either SBux or DD. often I'm still drinking the coffee from Einsteins. Don't judge me.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with this!

With other things I might be a Judgey McJudgerpants, but NEVER when it comes to coffee.  It's essential to my life and the life of those around me.  It makes me less stabby.

No judgement from me either. I didn't understand the DD obsession until recently. Hadn't tried it. When DS2 was here a few weeks ago we stopped at DD because he doesn't have them in SoCal. That is some smoooooooth coffee!!! Still prefer my Sbux dirty chai, though.

OhOhOh, when we were in Denver last weekend I actually ordered something different! I know, right? My kids were shocked! I tried the "shaken iced peach green tea lemonade". Yummo, but what a frickin long name! And you can't just say part of it because it's too much like some of the other drinks!

How the Manatees make a living

AKA More Manatee Time!

We may not be talkative enough today.  Where's the coffee?

I currently am a professor of Mathematics.   Former gig was that of a Reconnaissance Marine.   Everyone should change careers every twenty years or so.   Keeps life interesting.     Cool
