Recent phone conversation with my dad - a life long runner...

Me:  Hey dad, guess what, I signed up for the Whiterock Half Marathon.

Dad:  That's great when is it?

Me:  December 13.

Dad:  Next year?

Me:  No, this year!

Dad:  You can't run it, you'll never be ready for it that soon.

Me:  Thanks for the tacklin' fuel Dad

Dad:  What?

Me:  Nevermind, how's Pat (step-mom)....

Isn't funny not only where find inspiration, but also how the relationship between parents and children never seems to completely mature?

sdalessio - 2009-09-18 8:43 AM I'm not sure how to get pics up on BT from a race so I'm passing along the link instead.  These are pics from my son's race.  Now the hard part - deciding which one(s) to get.  :-)

http://www.backprint.com/view_user_event.asp?PID=bp%18sC&EVENTID=50898&BIB=387&S=230&PWD=

apparently he's having a good time which obviously cost him dearly as he only finished second.  he needs to take this more serious and train harder. and maybe teach him a rule or two...clearly in 009 he is passing on the right.  wtf?

those are some of the best race images i've seen.  order all of them.  006 and the two on the bike are my favorite.  and he's wearing a race belt!  i love it!

I am tempted by the CD.

The race belt is wrapped twice around his waist and tied in a knot around the back.  It was the only way we could get it fit right.

Woo Hoo - race on Sunday should be wetsuit legal.  They just posted for the Int. distance on Sat. that the water temp was 71.

That is a big relief b/c I'm not sure I could have done the swim w/o my wetsuit.  I am so out of swim shape.

I'm thinking mine will not be...  besides, I don't know how to swim in one - I'll have to learn all over again!

There was some talk at some point in time about compression socks from Walgreens / CVS - has anyone been using them?  They are about half the price of the others...

I think the more expensive ones Zoot, CEP, etc might be the way to go if you want to run with them.  The cheaper ones from the pharmacy would probably wear through pretty quickly if you tried to run in them but if like me you just sit around the house in them they would be the way to go.

You can get the same compression in both, the cheaper ones actually have more options than the higher end ones. IMO

Most definitely will not be running in them - I look like Forest Gump when he was kid enough already when I run.. I don't need help looking like an dork...

Who said gambling doesn't have benefits? I went and played in an industry poker game on Thursday night. I finished in 3rd out of 66, and won over $800!! Wife asked how I want to spend it, so I've decided I am going to get a coach for next year.

Tracy--are you out there? what did you decide about this weekend????

GOOD LUCK TO ALL and REMEMBER TO REPORT BACK ASAP!

Had a really good run today.  There were so many people on the trail and you could tell most were training for that Fall marathon.  I was a little jealous.  Madison is still living with the IM high. At least 5 people asked me if I did it.  I must have had that worn out haggard look or something.....

Beyond fashionably late but X 3 on the luck to everyone racing this weekend.

I've pretty much decided to do the Muskoka half again next year. I want to seriously improve my time. I just have to figure out hopw to get more training in. I think I will concentrate over the winter on a specific area each month and work on strength over all.

Great job finishing 3rd and I am sure the coach will help you finish well in tris next year as well.

I will be racing in my final sprint of the season tomorrow. I haven't swam much at all, but am not too worried about it. Looking forward to a run focused off season and spring marathon.
