Hi, all!

12:32:50 for me. Kept it easy throughout. Thought the swim was pretty rough, and the bike much, much windier than anticipated. Walked more on the run than I'd hoped, but was able to finish pretty strong. Great experience overall.

When you all wake up, I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

What a hard day. I mean, I know IM racing is hard, but I had a harder day than I even anticipated. 14:10 or so for me, far off my goal times. But, I did make goal number 1, which is always to finish. And goal #2, finish and not end up in medical. But, the wind, and the chop in the water, made for a very hard day for me. Much congratulations to all who competed, it was a finish well earned.

CdA was an awesome town to race in, too. There was some serious endurance being shown by many of the parties out on the course! Made for a very fun "run." Race report to come, but just wanted to put out some initial thoughts.

Congrats all!

Congratulations to all of you that raced. I watched many of you finish while working security between the finish chute and the med tent. After seeing the brutal windy conditions on race day, I didn't feel quite as bad about not being able to compete due to my ankle injury! hehe
Again, congrats to all who raced on such a tough, tough, windy day in CdA!

Congrats to all who participated! I wanted to thank Stan (Flyboy) for his generous time and tips. He offered a tour of the bike via his truck that I thought was invaluable. I really took note especially with regards to the bumps on the small loop going down. Then he volunteered his time as a medic in the tent during in the evening when a finisher passed out. It was great to see Tony (tlancer23) (also joined on the tour) as we bumped into each other a few times on the run. With over 2400 athletes, it was nice to recognize them during the day. It helped to pick up my spirits especially after the wind slapping me around on the bike lol.... Good luck to all with your future plans!

Yeah, I can see how you'd be thinking you picked a good day to miss. At least the air temperature was good. I hope it all comes together for you to get to the starting line next year.

11:28:59 for me. I was aiming for sub-11, but I've got no complaints. Ok, the wind wasn't great and I lost some time with it, but I still got an ironman race PR in all three phases and felt solid all day. No major issues and only a few mild bad patches. Apparently, I drank a good deal of the lake because I had to take three very long porto stops on the bike. I couldn't believe how much liquid was in me!

The highlight of my day was being along the boards in the finish chute during the last hour. It's just awesome.

Great job everybody!

I finished in 12:03:16!  I had been aiming for sub-11 until I got injured 6 weeks before the race.  I am just thrilled that I was able to finish.

The chop on the swim was like nothing else I had ever swam in.  It took me a while just to figure out how to breath.

I did well on the bike despite the wind, I was only about 1.5 miles/hour slower than my race plan.

I hadn't run for 6 weeks leading up to the race, but my injuries didn't really slow me down too much until the second half of the marathon.  Although I had been shooting for a sub-4 run split, I was still extremely pleased with my 4:59:34 marathon.  My quads completely cramped up about 20 feet from the finish line.  It made for some epic finish pictures........

Congratulations to everyone who finished.

Next year I'll be doing Whistler, but I'm sure the crowds and the atmosphere won't compare to Coeur d'Alene.

Back home here in Florida after taking in the west coast for a few days after. What a great time at the race, tough conditions for sure. Props to all, I've read the race reports from some of you, great stuff. I'll put mine up sometime this weekend.

Just like Brad I was hoping for sub 11 going in. I put the training in and felt good. On race evening I read the forecast and told my support that I would be happy with 11:30-12:00 based on the conditions.

I crossed the line in 11:30:xx, which is a big PR for me. I am very happy with that. I usually don't like to race the same venue as I like to pick a new spot, but CDA has me thinking about coming back next year.

Take care everyone and stay healthy Ironmen and Ironwomen.

Tom

Congrats to all of you! Some pretty tough conditions out there from wind, choppy swim to a hard rain! I spent the morning as a wetsuit stripper and then caught at the finish line from about 530-9pm. Very inspiring! I got the itch to do CDA again, did it last year, so signed up for 2015! Again, congrats to all of you that finished!

I am a little bummed by my 14:43:15 finish. I had some GI trouble for the first 2/3 of the run. I had not taken in allot of calories on the bike, but I think I wasn't digesting anything with all the effort that the wind hill combo required. Most of the run was spent diluting my gut, I started to feel better about mile 18. Oh well live and learn. At least I now have Idaho for 50 states. Post race blues have kicked in and I need a new goal.

Congrats to all of you for great results and solid racing. 10:33:26 is what I came in with, good for 16th M40-44 and 108th OA. It was my first Ironman after 7 years in the sport. I sustained two injuries during the 12 week build leading into the race, right achilles tendonsis and left calf tear. Since the first week of April my running was affected greatly all the way leading into the race. Instead of topping it off with several 50mi/weeks and some specific race training, I was visiting the PT office 3x week in order to get me to the starting line......dry needling, ART....Graston....
My time includes the 4min draft penalty on the bike. I was not dropping back out of draft zone fast enough when being passed by a horde of 6-7 riders passing abreast at the same time and in train formation with less than 4 bike lengths....... Totally my fault, no arguing with the ref.

Loved the venue, breath taking, the best volunteers and spectators in the sport. I have never seen better and I do race a lot traveling around the country, 13-14 70.3 races to date and nobody can touch CDA.

Back to running now, 2014 California International Marathon on 12/07/2014, goal of running sub 3, my first open marathon. Hope to see you again next year at CDA as I shall return to chase my dream, Kona slot.

Grats to all finishers. I ended up having a back spasm for an entire week before the race, then did the race on muscle relaxants, finished, but slower than I would have liked. Great group, tough swim/day.

Congrats to the 2014 finisher! I have signed up for 2015 and live in VA. For those in the know, would the La Quinta on Sherman Ave or the Days Inn be a better hotel for the race. Everything else looks booked up. I am traveling solo, so a VRBO seems a little too much, Thanks Jim

You did the race on muscle relaxants? Wow, that must have been interesting. I hope you didn't have any other troubles. Congrats on getting through that.

My family and I stayed at the Days Inn on Northwest Blvd this year. It's right across the street from a new development of restaurants and shops that was quite convenient. It worked out well for us. The rooms are older so it's nothing fancy, but the staff was very nice. They were very aware of the race and made an effort to be welcoming. Little things like putting a table in the lobby with free bottles of water were a nice touch for those of us always looking for something to drink. If you stay there though, ask for a room on the other side of the building from Northwest Blvd. The windows let a lot of road noise through.
