I did Pilates this AM. It was the same routine I always do but today it felt especially hard. My abs are feeling it! I'm now at 100% for this. Still need 2x swim, bike, and run which shouldn't be a problem. Maybe I can go over 100%!

D001 - 2010-01-21 4:22 PM There are a few different ways to do this, but for sickness/injury, here's one way: (Original goal) x (Days that you COULD work out) / (Days in the month) = Revised goal For example: January has 31 days. Say your goal was 50 miles, but you missed 6 days due to illness/injury. 50 miles x (25 days that you COULD work out) / (31 days in Jan.) = 40 miles revised goal If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. Dee

Hello Dee... just wanted to get clarification... I had a 20 workout goal for this 4 week challenge.  I lost the 1 week for jury duty, so I was just going to drop my goal down to 15 workouts.  Is that OK?

And I must be delirious, because I'm actually contemplating going to the gym at lunch for a SWIM (GASP!).

D001 - 2010-01-20 6:43 PM So, short of tasing my heel until all feeling is gone forever.... Is there actually any way to get rid of PF?

Kendra suggested myofascial release.  I did it once and it was a huge help!  She's had to do it a bunch of times, but it does keep hers under control
Really? Hm......... I wonder if anyone around here does it. Wait. Maybe I need to find out exactly WHAT it is before I go rushing into it. If it's more painful than a taser-tap, maybe I'll just opt for the taser. Or amputation. Do I really NEED a heel?

It was like a painful massage.  It hurt a lot at the time, but it felt great once it was done.

Jumping in kind of late here, but been traveling and haven't kept up with all the posting.  Have you considered trying extracorporeal shock wave therapy.....kinda like tasering really.  I have a gym friend who has had great results with it.  It is somewhat painful, and requires multiple sessions but I've heard positive things.  Not tried it myself. I've kept the princess feet happy for a couple years now with orthotics, lots of stretching and ice but would have been open to amputation at one point.  Good luck.

billsorg - 2010-01-22 8:59 AM Good morning team.  I had a bit of a frustrating morning.  Got up bright and early for a 1 hour dreadmill run... didn't even hit the snooze button ONCE!  Got on the TM and the belt kept slipping.  No biggie, just needed to tighten it.  Well, it took me a half hour to find the stinkin' allen wrench that I needed to tighten it!  So I did a ANNNNGRY half hour run at an average speed that is much faster than my usual. It felt good to get out that aggression/frustration.

Anybody have any fun/interesting plans for the weekend?  I was hoping to get out and see Avatar, but it's looking like about a 50:50 chance that will happen.  Definitely watching some football on Sunday.

Aside from football watching and a lot of swimming to catch up on my goal a friend and I will be having our annual birthday celebration.  We've been doing this since 1st grade since our birthdays are just 4 days apart.

I agree... and I will as well!  Well I made it over to the Y for a swim at lunch.  Yes, that's right... I said a SWIM.  First swim in maybe 2 months.  It was nice to know I could still do 1,250 yards without stopping.  Ok, I had to do a recovery backstroke on 2 of the lengths, but I was still moving forward (sorta).  Then I got peer pressured into a game of racquetball.  I'm completely spent.  Is it happy hour yet?Undecided

Morning team.  What's everyone up to today?  I'm hitting the trainer as far as training goes.  Cole has therapy and then family stuff and church this evening.  Tomorrow is a 4 miler and then family day.  Hopefully all goes according to plan.  I am having the hardest time getting back to my bike training after Christmas vacation.  Just cannot seem to make it work.

Hello all.  I'm shooting for a jaunt on the treadmill at some point today.  The whole family is off to a bit of a slow start.  We have ice skating lessons for the kids this morning and then HOPEFULLY we can get a little productive.  I feel like this week I finally got my mojo back with regards to training.  I think getting in the pool for the first time in ages "got the juices flowing".  I updated the spreadsheet finally... my goals have been revised.

My wife and I are trying to get a baby sitter tonight so we can go out to dinner.  There's a great restaurant that opened near us not too long ago and it is fabulous.  A local family turned a 100-year-old bank into this quaint restaurant and the food is out of this world.  And it's BYOB which is always a bonus and, to top it off, we have a gift card.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Revising goals due to illness or injury - Another way to recalculate....

If you have specific workouts planned, but missed them due to illness or injury ---> You can revise your challenge goal by leaving out those missed workouts.

For example, if you'd planned 10 runs of 5 miles each, but missed one session:
(9 sessions that you could do) x (5 miles per session) = 45 miles revised goal

I went once and it got rid of the PF I had.  Granted, it was pretty mild and just starting, but I haven't had problems at all with PF in over a month.  I was really skeptical, but it was SO helpful!
